This is my first project on the MPC Live 2, so I decided to do a remix of a song I've recorded on a Tascam 688 cassette portastudio. I started off by sampling audio from the 688, sequenced a song and recorded it back onto the 688 to create the final mix. I've still got a lot to learn about the MPC but i'm starting to get my head around the workflow now.
Wonderful job
Thanks for checking out the video and much appreciated!
Guitar sounds amazing
pure analog power
Much appreciated, thanks for checking it out!
I’ve had my eye on this Akai for a while. This has confirmed I need to get me one! Great demo.
Hey, thanks for watching! They are really versatile machines but take a bit of time to get your head around the workflow. 👍
If you don't wanna spend over a grand just get the mpc one. Same thing but with more buttons. Only downside is no speaker and no lithium ion battery but who cares about that
Good job. The live 2 and mpc one are quite possibly the best all in one machines ever made. In 99 if you told me in 20 years we would be able to buy a mpc that can literally do everything from sequencing, sampling, record vocals, midi up, and mix and master in one box for 800$ I'd have called you a psycho
Thanks, and you’re so right about the amount of functionality they’ve squeezed into these new MPC! I’m only just scratching the surface so far, but it’s mind boggling.
wait till you say it's battery powered, and not a game boy.

Man that tascam sounds great , I’m assuming you can get that mix down to a computer somehow but still retain that warm sound right ?
Thanks man, yes it still retains the warm analog sound when you mix down to the computer. I just did a stereo mix here, but the mixer also has 8 tape outs so you can also mix on other units.
Good job! :D
Thanks, Mark! 👍
Niiice ! Thanks for making this vid. Just wondering, once you've recovered your final production onto the tascam and now you plan to send that beat to someone as an audio file ( mp3, wav etc) , is there a "simple" way that one could do it ? Would it still require a transfer to Pto tools or other software if they prefer it tracked out? Thank you
Thanks for your kind comment! It’s possible to use a CD recorder or portable digital recorder instead of a computer to export stuff (I’ve got a little zoom H1 which is pretty handy).
@@wehappyfewmusic aaah ok thank you I appreciate the reply. I'll look into that zoom
I just bought the model 16, and I also have an 18i20. I was using the 18i20 as my main interface for my monitors, but I might switch it to the 16. These units sound great, even better than my focus rite, really blown away (really nice gain). I might have to copy your setup. MPC live 2 has 6 outputs without an interface from what it looks like.
I can probably incorporate this into my DJ sets too crazy enough.
That would be a great combo, especially for DJ sets so you can have more hands on controls! Ive not tried the model 16 but it looks like a great unit.
@@wehappyfewmusic I've been looking for more videos with mpcs combined with standalone mixers.
@@TranceCore3 How many have you found?
@@wehappyfewmusic there doesn't seem to be a whole lot. There's a few content creators though. That's how I landed on this video. I believe you're the second one I saw using an interface along with this kind of mixer and mpc
How are you connected to the workstation with no wires? I have a Tascam DP32 track and need to know how to hook up my MPC Live 2 to it. Please help
You can hook up to you Tascam in a few ways, but you will need cables (I think it must be the clips where I’m playing audio back with out wires here?). Easiest way is to just run a stereo out from the MPC’s line outs to your DP32. I used an external usb audio interface which gave me 8 separate outputs though so I could mix the levels on the 688.
What kind of tape did you use here?
I’m using a chrome type 2 tape by Quantegy on this tune.
Whats happening with your display?
That’s the way I bought it unfortunately. I think the previous owner must of dropped a heavy object on it. 😬
