I tried the famous BIC Crystal Ballpoint Pen for drawing. They have a bigger nib and are awesome for art and illustration. I only use colored Ballpoints in this video, if you are an artist as well, I can only recommend to try this.

So with these pens I use them two ways personally:
I use them in tandem with colorless blender alcohol markers to manipulate the pigment
I also use these to sketch in color, or 'choose' the best thumb nail in my sketchbook by putting a block of color behind the sketch of choice or coloring in the sketch lightly.

@@modauth You can also use water and watercolor to get some more manipulation, you just gave to be careful with using a ton of water on bristol

I have tried doing pieces with ballpoint pens, but the main problem is that I am TERRIBLE at controlling the pressure in order to vary the line strength. Still, thanks to them I was able to learn some crosshatching while doodling during class back in high school lol

Yeah, the pressure is hard to control. These ballpoints are pretty smooth though, they almost feel like a gel pen. And the thicker nib and stroke is also cool
