Great song. Thought it was about ghosts at first but actually seems to be about a bad break-up. Brilliantly evocative lyrics, an emotional interpretation from the singer and great playing from the band. I found this by piece from an early 1950s commercial video
Marc Almond , post Soft Cell, did a very nice version of this in the mid eighties Never knew it was a cover, but I should a known, he does so many covers... Jaques Brell (sic??) Is a favorite of his , I like this version a good deal, thanks for the posting
I have liked this song for years, but the version I remember (I no longer have a copy) was I believe sung by Carmen Lombardo. Great song...this is a nice version, too.
The song was interpolated in the revue “Ziegfeld Follies of 1934,” where it was introduced by Jane Froman in her Broadway début. The song replaced “Moon About Town,” in act 2. Froman did not make a commercial recording of the song, but who knows? Someday it may turn up on a radio broadcast.
Incredible - loved the ending for we are all haunted by the music that has framed our good times and our bad times. Thank you for bringing these treasures back to life.
jurek46pink sorry I dropped the project and picked it back up can i use this in monitized videos? I plan on putting up an urban explore of a 1920s mineral spring hotel
'jukek46pink' I just found this song--today--quite by accident; the version I listened to was by (I'm guessing now) a male quartet, played at the beginning of a 1935 Chevrolet commercial regarding their suspension systems. [Sorry, Grammar Police for such a long sentence!]. I found your video of the song--'jukek46pink'--on You Tube just this evening. Thank you, thank you so very much for sharing that wonderful song with us. And...so very appropriate for Halloween too! a new subscriber, 'Zahc'
You clearly believe your sentence is too long...that's on you, don't blame "grammar police" for your own failings. There's nothing wrong with the length, only the contents are moronic. By mentioning it, you become a fair target to anyone who wishes to correct you...just because you're being a dick.
I hope its not too late to ask, but this track would be absolutely perfect for a short horror film I'm working on. Can I use this for a scene in my short film?
It is nice of you that you ask this question before any action. Very rare nowadays on such a field like this. Yes you can, if you only put in your work the info about the source of this sound (this channel) and inform me about the fonal result of your work.

I lover it, too...
Imagine waking up and it's pitch black and you hear this...

Very atmospheric and Denny Dennis sung it so well.

The vocalist is Denny Dennis and the recording was from May 1934.
I would have thought he was Russian from the way he says “your lest goodbye.”

Beautiful track I’m working on a project and have been looking for music like this for it, can I use this track for a scene in one of my videos
Nice that you are informing me and asking. Of course, I do not mind using it if you only could show me your final "product", later on.

Thanks for the visit and for the details.
Excellent !! un peu jazz avec la clarinette.
świetnie...
Does anyone know who owns the copyright to this song and this recording? I would like to use it in a short film.
It's out of copyright. You can find it if you are lucky on a shellac record, or look for various CDs or LPs of Roy Fox.
