    The first video you did I could see how useful it was for milling. The thought never crossed my mind though about using it to flip big rounds up like this. Definitely a good alternative use for it and I also liked the idea of using the noodles to hold the round still.

      It didn't cross my mind either but I left it out after using to mill logs. It was nearby when I needed to move one and my initial impression was, "Holy cow!"

    Excellent demonstration on the multi uses of the tool great video as always. You sure keep your chains sharp well done.

      I read somewhere on the internet that the second you notice the chain is dull it's time to sharpen. I take that to heart. I've changed my methods since the last sharpening video and it's getting easier and better.

      John my question is [and you might do a video on it] how many times do you sharpen before you replace the chain? My point is that by the time you have taken 50% off the length of the chain tooth it isn't cutting as much wood. Am I right in guessing that on your larger 066 actually cuts faster when you have sharpened to 50% due to the fact that there is less drag. You have never talked much about dressing your bars. I personally think that keeping your bar in good condition helps greatly. I have also noticed that the harden bars like the Stihl bars tend to chip more than the Oregon bars. Any thoughts on any of this? As for Danny Glover's quote "Get that sh*t off my lawn" would be the sort of thing my wife would say if I had our yard covered in logs. ;-) The baby logrite looks Ok but I prefer a hookaroon. As for the noodling, I should use the noodle on the top of my neck and do it that way. Because I'm a fat cat who needs the exercise I tend to spit the rounds with wedges so I can drag them to the spliter. Keep them coming.

    Please do a video comparing a pickaroon vs a pike pole spear to pickup split firewood. We are all looking for ways to save our back while loading and unloading firewood

    What’s the point of noodling? If the rounds are firewood length, isn’t it easier (and less wasteful) to just upright split at that point?

    I prefer my Fiskars felling lever with turning hook. The black one with orange handle, not the woodxpert mumbo jumbo.

    Thanks for showing this way. Had some elm that was a pain to split. This made it so much easier but yes your chain dulls like crazy!

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  7 років тому

      Oooh. Elm. I wouldn't touch that without a hydraulic splitter or use my saw to 'Noodle' it.

    When you're doing this "noodling" cutting, is that with a regular chain ?

    If you were to get just one length cant hook, what size would you recommend that would do a decent job for most tasks? I was thinking of getting a 42", but was wondering what your thoughts were.

      This would be the one ua-cam.com/video/gzd6zbspE8c/v-deo.html . You can go to your Stihl dealer and get it or the Logrite website and get the same cant hook in blue.

    I can't believe you haven't tried a quality carbide chain with the amount of dirt you deal with on the wood.

    • @CTSCAPER
      @CTSCAPER  7 років тому

      I try to keep it simple and not have a ton of chains. Sometimes easier said than done. That day I was using a semi-chisel chain which helped and it's amazing how quickly you can touch one up if you don't get carried away.

    The line I'm thinking of was when he shot the guy with his exaggerated aiming technique for long shots and then he said something exactly or with great similarity to, "diplomatic immunity revoked!"

      I have a forked white Oak I'll be cutting next week that's around 38" at the base. You're going to want to avoid that video. I know a granberg could do the job but I just want it out of the way right now.

      They are what they are and so many times damaging a foundation beyond repair so it must be done. I have a friend that deals with these on site and saws wonderful planks on site for the cost of removal. A win/win situation.
