I have never heard anyone talk of this problem when picking juries.

What does “inside baseball” mean?
That makes no sense.
In baseball, if a batter is crowding the plate and a pitcher wants to back him away to give him a better strike zone, the pitcher will throw the ball directly at the batter's, uh, well let's just say most batters instinctively back away from the plate when they see it coming.
That's an inside baseball, and the term when used in other situations means you wanted to back somebody away from something, so you tried to hit them where it hurts the most as a friendly warning.
It often means the details are uninteresting to most people, that the subject is esoteric.
So lawyers geeking out about evidentiary rules might be cut short by normal people by calling it 'inside baseball' and wanting to move on.
If criminal defendant trump was normal and had good attorneys, he probably could have made a deal on these charges a long time ago and they would have gone away with a fine, some kind of probation and maybe Community Service.
I didn't realize the objective in court was to "score a lot of points". My understanding is they're attempting to prove guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
