    I've visited Banff 8 times... My number one thing to do is a day trip on Bow highway. Drive it at 20mph and turn into every available side road.. Ending at the gondola overlooking Lake Louise..

      I'll be in banff for 5 days in june.
      Should I take one full day to do just that? Sounds interesting, and maybe a less crowded thing to do?

      @@guitareMTL yes. Allow a full day to explore the turn outs and take in the view...Johnston Canyon is another great place on the Bow highway. Take the trail to Stella falls at Johnston. Have great time.

    We enjoyed our trip to Banff in 2019. Enjoyed your video and agree with your selections. If going north (eg. Columbia Icefields), make sure you stop at Peyto Lake. It's a little north of Lake Louise. The brilliance of the blue lakes is greater appreciated from elevation and when parking at Peyto Lake it is a relatively short uphill walk to a magnificent viewing area of the lake as it is much lower than the parking elevation. To get the same brilliance at Lake Louise it is a much longer uphill walk that may be difficult for many. So much to see in Banff and the surrounding areas

    This is awesome thank you! I am planning a 10 day trip for June 2024. I think I want to stay in Jasper my first few days, then a night or two at the Fairmont Louise and then maybe finish in downtown of Banff. Not sure if that is over doing it though. Thanks for the tips!

    Thanks for the very informative video. My wife and I are going June 7th for 2 weeks with a Camper through the Canadian rocky's and we start in Banff where we stay for 2 days. then we continue our trip to Jasper and make it a nice route to go back to Banff via Clearwater, Enderby and Revelstoke. can you give us some advice on what kind of clothes we should bring? greetings from the Netherlands.

    • @NorthernVikingExplorer
      @NorthernVikingExplorer  Рік тому +1

      Weather it can be hit and miss. It can be up to 25° in the daytime and close to freezing at night. It's tough to pack for because you need clothes to keep you warm. And clothes for summer weather. I would pack layers so you can layer up if you need to.

      Hi @Jeroen Dekker we did a roadtrip Jasper back to Banff, Clearwater BC. Banff onwards Jasper had route to Clearwater BC about 5-6 hours away go back through Jasper to be able to back to Alberta (where Banff then onwards to Okanagan to Enderby OR from Jasper to Clearwater BC then into Kamloops BC to Enderby in the Okanagan, to Revelstoke then Golden BC then finally back to Banff. Make sure your have GPS on ya. There is no Banff and direct Clearwater, BC route.

    Great video! I need some advice though. I’m planning with a friend to drive from Vancouver to Calgary (Whistler, Revelstoke, Banff in between) during the 2nd half of october. Is it actually advisable to drive that route and what would the weather conditions be like?

    • @NorthernVikingExplorer
      @NorthernVikingExplorer  2 роки тому +2

      I'm not sure about Alberta but I know in British Columbia you need winter tires from October 1st to April 30th to go through the mountain passes. Every year is different as the conditions vary widely. We travel the pass to Vancouver quite commonly and it is often a snow storm and then the next time it's clear even in the winter. As a general rule of thumb the routes are open year around but they will shut down from accidents and severe weather conditions.

    Coming from the US, do we need to exchange US dollars to Canadian dollars...or can we use US dollars there? Also, is canoeing really that much for an hour?

    • @NorthernVikingExplorer
      @NorthernVikingExplorer  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, Canoeing was that price. Extremely expensive. As for US dollars, most of the stores will accept them however you will not get a favorable exchange rate. Your best bet is to use a credit card or exchange into Canadian dollars before you come.
