Last night, I somehow got this dummy key out...but had no idea what I did. Thanks to this video, I now know. After replacing my fob battery, it works again. I may leave a spare battery in the car. Can't hurt. 😎

Its easy NOT to look there and the language isn't immediately obvious, but now that you've seen it in action, maybe it will ring a bell. And you can save this in a play list... And yea, why is it a damn secret??
Well, if I understand you're question correctly, you need a back up start operation for your 2010. So, if it has the same "dummy" key as the one in the video, the process is the same. If it doesn't, I would look for the symbol of a key with lines radiating from it (see one of our Audi vids). Could be on the dash, the console or the steering column. Hold the key fob against it while starting. Cannot be sure because Porsche does not release their owner's manuals. Yours should have the procedure...
I have a 2015 Cayenne. One key fob is working but the spare that I haven't used for 2-3years is not working. I changed the battery in the spare key but it is still not working although the battery light is lighting up red. The Porsche dealership think they may need to resend it to my car or I may need to order a new key and sync it to my car.... have you any suggestions?
QUESTION “The first part = This opens the door GREAT. But can you use this emergency key to LOCK the car?” I think I tried last night and it would not lock the car. But going to try again in daylight now lol. The other solution is (and I’ll go test this shortly) is I think! The car automatically relocks itself after 30secs anyway if you don’t start up (assuming no flat battery)
I got 2018 Porsche Macan for a couple months now, 2 days age, after pulled out driver side door with my remote key, but the car alarm sound was triggering keeping on, I don't know why? I tried to press the unlocked button on the key, it won't stop and turn off the alarm, Dose anyone know help me how to turn off the car alarm? thanks.
@@DashboardSymbols Thank you very much for response my car problem how to turn off the alarm, I did try everything after watched your posted video clip few times, but it won't work ( after started car engine the alarm sound triggering won't stop until you shut off car engine after 5 minutes) I requested a Porsche roadside service, they sent 2 service agents came to take a look and couldn't solve the problem and said many Macan model had such problem cause thief protection setting up too sensitive. I have to bring my car back to Porsche dealer to fix.
Kinda thought that's what u meant. Anyway, just one suggestion. Set the good fob aside, away from the car. Using the fob that's not working, unlock the car with its mechanical key. Then plug in the fob in place of the dummy key and start the car. This may re-sync it. If not, let the dealer try to re-sync. Also, one of the few companies we can't get manuals from, so check yours for a reset/sync procedure...
this didn't work for me - I have been locked out of my goddam car for 24 hours now...just spent half an hour trying to open the car with the emergency key. It can turn either clockwise or anti clockwise - neither way worked to open the car. Driving me crazy!!! How can porsche design something SO difficult to use???!!!
Can't speak for Porsche, but there's really only one answer -- which is that they included the wrong emergency key in the fob. Hard to imagine you're doing something wrong to unlock. Do you have a spare fob and so another emergency key?? Maybe...
@@DashboardSymbols Thanks for the suggestion - I have two keys and I tried the emergency key from both. No joy :( Can you actually open the car without a working emergency key!? Seriously worried that I will need to get my car towed to the porsche dealer now... this is crazy!
@@testusername3000 Well, you SHOULD be able to open the car with a working fob. Does it need a battery or is the car's start battery dead?? Also, I have a video to help you install a battery in the fob. You'll need a CR 2032, available practically everywhere.
@@DashboardSymbols Both of my fobs are showing a red light when I press the button - which says to me the batteries are still ok. Would be a massive coincidence that they both suddenly stop working at the same time. I will check out your other video and try and change one out. My first thought was that the car battery had died :(

I don't have enough to go on here. If you can access the key hole, your physical key will unlock the car. Otherwise, you have the wrong key!!

Yes on the auto lock, and yes the mechanical key will lock the car. Turn it the opposite direction...
