After watching your videos I bought a female blue. And I guarantee staffies are great with kids, I got two little princess here and my dog is very carefull and tender with them. Another true, english staffies barely barks. Fortunaly down here in Brazil staffies are not so rare, in my neighborhhod I found other three staffies and we have four breeders in Rio. By the way, I do this crying thing all the time. Thaks for your videos!

@@recs5351 you have no idea about the breed. Its known as the nanny dog… my girl is 14 now and is the softest dog you will ever meet. I got my girl at 8 weeks when my boy was 6 weeks old and then 3 years later my daughter was born. She has been amazing with them both and everyone she meets. Because of her most of my family now have one. They’re are smaller the then a pit ball and American. (not that I think these are bad breeds either)
Stop generalising and hyping up something that isn’t there in this breed. They only issue I have had is she is always full on. (Not these days, just wants to sleep or cuddle). 💯 play, 💯 love. But mine is very vocal, different to this guys pup.

Here in the UK most Staffies bark. Ours does it if he sees our neighbour or the postman because he loves people and wants them to come over to give him attention. Great dogs, ours is still a live wire at the age of 6! As soon as he sees a small child though he calms right down - it's as if he realises he needs to be gentle with them because they're little. Wonderful boy is our Reggie.

My staffy is 11 and gets the cutest bursts of energy when we take her to the park, she's like a puppy. She is on the larger side for an English staffy, standing a little larger than most male dogs of the breed, but we have found that her breathing is better than smaller staffies. She is the most gentle, sweet girl you'd ever meet

Hello Here from South Africa. I agree 100% . My (English) Staffies were beautiful and fantastic with kids. I had two when my two kids were born. They grew up with my kids. When the 2 staffies passed on at about 14 i got another two. My kids were taught to be gentle with them and vice versa and i was never once, ever, was nervous or worried leaving them alone with the kids. They are super clever, intelligent. When my kids were born i brought their clothing and fist poo etc from the hospital every day and let them smell etc. By the time i bought the babies home the dogs were so excited. We put the babies on the carpet and the dogs went and sniffed and were so excited they were hopping around from, foot to foot and trembling all over (if you have a Staffie you will know what i mean )
We had 4 dogs over the years. A male and female each time and i can tell you, each had a totally different personality but all had the same Staffie traits. When you get home from a bad day at the office, just looking at them will bring a smile to your face and lift your heart. LONG LIVE STAFFIES

As an Englishman, glad you made this video it's the BIGGEST frustration Ever people who don't know the difference in a Staffie and a Pitbull, in the 80s and 90s over here in England the Staffies got such a bad reputation through Pitbulls attacking dogs kids and owners it's unreal!
My parents got one when me and my brother were in our mid teens and my uncle had one in the 70s and 80s, the breed has got a bit taller over the years they used to be 14-16inches max by the breed standard set in 1800s. But our Staffie had a big mum and Dad he had 14 show champions in him including his dad and him mum was as big as he was as an adult he grew to 17.5inches by 11months old then filled out after, we showed him as a puppy and they said his height they weren't strict on now as the breed has got bigger since the standard was set 150years ago, so he was fine at 17.5inches as long as all perfectly proportioned. (Much like people were 4.5-5ft tall 150years ago I suppose we've also got bigger) His mum had the British record of 10pups that all survived he was the biggest bit softest/kindest natured out of the 10, and all were healthy! He was THE BEST and Softest Dog we could have ever have hoped for All the other dog owners even used to say he was the best dog ever..
He is as fit as a fiddle at 11yeaes old, but we think someone poisoned him and we had to have him put down just 4 months later just before his 12th birthday but they regularly live to 15-16 years old in England and I've no doubt had it not been for his liver packing up he'd have been right up the top end he was solid but soft as shit.. loved kids loved people even other dogs as we socialised him at puppy classes from 14 weeks for about 6 months or so, so he got on with other dogs then we Carried on training him ourselves.
He was super intelligent and super living, exactly what you said about if upset he just knew instinctively and came up and comforted you..
We had him put down in 2003 and my parents couldn't even get another dog as he was just irreplaceable!!
They are WITHOUT doubt the Best dog breed in the world for protectiveness, loyalty, friendliness, for being great with kids and just all around amazing companions..
And yes they hardly ever bark unless they hear something at night or someone at the door bit then if your at home they'll often just stay in their bed as they tend to have a sixth sense whether they need to show protectiveness.. He did "Talk" all the time though to let you know if he wanted something or to go out the garden to go to the toilet he worked out to rattle the security chain instead of bark lol!)
Luckily American Staffordshire Terriers/Pitbulls are Banned in England since the 90s/early 2000s and since then Staffies(Staffordshire Bull Terriers) have rightfully just started to regain their rightful reputation as being the soft loving breed they really are, not monsters that attack people..
They're even seen on dog food adverts here now which is a 180degree change in last 10-15years of WRONG opinion and BAD media they got! (Due to the Pitbull thing)
End of the day as long as you train then right treat them well and they're not mistreated then they're amazing family Dogs! Ps. You got a lovely example there mate. We had a Black Brindle he was about 4-4.5stone fully fit as he was taller example and very muscular as they are.
Thanks again from London England 👍💪❤️😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Greetings from the UK, I've owned a couple of staffs and its true what you're saying about their character, extremely loyal and very protective of children in particular, the best advice I could give to anyone thinking of getting one is to make sure you socialise them with other dogs from a very early age, they are very intelligent, and a well trained obedient Staff is a joy to own, a disobedient unruly Staff can be the complete opposite.....

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the greatest breed of Dog that has or will ever exist.
I've had two in my life sadly both are gone now and I am craving another as our home is empty without one.
Here in England the price of SBT's and many other breeds has got out of hand however that said if you choose a SBT you will congratulate yourself every day because the love they give back is immeasurable.

Gents, first congrats for your girls. I had a staffy some years ago and I think that I can share some experiences with you. Yes, the dog never went against my kids, true BUT, unfortunately, he did so against a friend of my daughter and the situation went really grouse, he almost killed the girl. She didn't die because I'm a paramedic (part of my Army training and focused on keeping a person alive, no matter what) and because my neighbor is a doctor and he got actively involved. Imagine, everything happened under my supervision and responsibility, within my home!! They're so fast and strong that you'll have little else to do than controlling the damage, if you can and later, of course. Therefore, even if you're around, don't give them a single chance when you have other than the family kids playing at home. Please avoid my terrible, quite terrible experience. In public spaces, always use a leash, he killed one of my neighbor's dogs, and severely wounded another one, in the same episode, and again, nothing else to do about it but to apologize, later again. Enjoy your staffies, they're cute and apparently kind but, never ever forget that you have a gladiator there, in the shape of a small dog and also, they are just what they are, a really tough and mainly effective fighting machine. Cheers!

I really enjoyed this video! I rescued my boy Hudson about half a year ago. He’s 57% Staffordshire Bull Terrier and 43% Rottweiler. I’ve had Rottweilers in the past but he acts and looks way more Staffy, he’s my first Staffy. My girlfriend and I rescued him when he was around 6 months, and we were expecting at the time. We now have a 5 month old beautiful daughter and a year and 3 month old pup. I definitely relate to this a lot, he’s certainly one of the most compassionate and loving dog I’ve had. I’ve never really heard him bark ever as well, have heard the whine noise you played as well when he gets excited. He loves “his” baby so much, and is really careful around her for the most part! He always gives her and us lots of kisses. To burn some energy I put her inside of her car seat and set it in the wagon and he pulls her on our daily walks with his harness on and I have him on a leash just incase of a squirrel! Haha. He enjoys it, wags his tail whenever he sees me get the wagon around. He’s also very smart, good with training and daily exercise!
I hope all is well with you and your family! Take care brother.

    Cracking video.
We've had our boy just over 7 years and it's been an absolute joy.
As was said in the video they have outstanding loyalty which even over shadows their strength.
Our boy loves mud and being a white staffie he goes from clean to filthy very quickly.
I noticed in the video the staffie doing zoomies....sprinting round in circles hahahaha they love it.
And they definitely don't know when to stop playing.
Thanks again for the video, it's superb.

Sorry for your huge loss. I have had my Staffordshire (she is crossed with American Pitbull, pretty common here in New Zealand) for just gone 2 years and already I dread the day I might have to say goodbye. She is my constant companion, I cannot even go toilet without her shadowing me. She has had 2 litters (23 puppies in 7months!),i kept 2 puppies now 1 Year old. That was puppy BootCamp for me! I have had her fixed now. So I have 3 Staffordshire pittie mixes, just the perfect number for me (if I had a bigger house I would actually like 1 more! 😂😂😂,) they are all very clingy and affectionate, but I definitely have a very strong bond with the Mummy dog. They are incredibly loyal and very intuitive and very good guard dogs too, and on top of that they are also big goof balls a lot of the time! No dougt you have some awesome memories with your Staffordshire, they still teach us so much.

Hi Dan. Have just found you and have now subscribed.
From as early as I can remember there has always been a Staffy in our family. I grew up with them and if I'm honest I cant imagine what it would be like to have any other breed.
My Avitar is of my dog Trump( yep, named after the Donald) and he is the nuts mate.
Everything that you have said about this little strong loving tenacious breed is spot on.
Congrats with your upcoming bambino and in Shadow you know that baba will be so protected by him.
Every Staffy i have have ever known just love kids, but as you have pointed out the only thing you have to watch for is their jumping up...they just love their family sooo much that they find it hard to not get over excited.
Big up from the UK, and all the best👍

Hey Dan I used to breed & show staffs here in the UK. Your dog is what we call a black brindle.. The brindle marking is a throw back in the line. Not a fault.. I agree with what you have said.
The history of the breed.. They are a fighting dog. Before the pitbull. The original breed was the same size as the French Dogue de Bordeaux. As was the British bulldog. That's our most dangerous dog in those times. There are several theories around the breeding. Lord Hamilton.. But reading about him I think more than likely he invented the pitbull.. Because he used to do a lot of business in Ireland. One of key dogs in all of the terrier breeding is the Kerryblue. Those dogs were originally 25' to the shoulder.. And different Lords had different breed of dog. The northern dog come from Staffordshire.. Was known as the half n half. The people who worked the Lords land in Staffordshire would have also bred his bull baiting dogs for his entertainment.. Then he might sell or do a deal with the Lord or Bedfordshire. To own 1 or two of his fine dogs. But in Northamptonshire that Lord may have preferred the British bulldog he got from Cornwall.. For his bullbaiting. The fighting come about who had the best breed. English bull terrier, British bulldog, Staffordshire, Mastiffs.. There were no real rules. And dogs got killed.. Fighting was over too quickly.. So a new dog needed to be invented. Lighter, so could entertain for longer..
The pitbull.. Was much much smaller than any of the others.. Weight maximum 30lb. They still used the larger dogs.. But not so much.. Then it was made against the law 1835.. Still went on..
The other terriers played a big part also In the pit. Some times a miss match.. Or rat killing against the clock. All the geans are still there in the breeding. The reason for reduction in size was the kennal club. To be honest they have ruined every breed they invite in. Constantly reducing the true size given the breed health problems. My dogs were still a bit on the tall side. At 18' I used to weight train my dogs.. Pulling, spring pole. And mine were all black.. We qualifyed one year for Crufts.. We turned up in Birmingham Nec. I got given a dog handler.. They would not let me take him in the ring. And my dog took a dislike to the handler, because he was very harsh and shouting at him. He hit him with the leach.. My dog was also trained for guard.. And warned him. So I refused to let that handler walk him. So we never appeared. After he died. That's it. Because the kennal club is distroying the breed.
Now I do miss the breed. I still know all the best lines here and top breeders. But I have a dog breed the kc don't recognise. Patterdale Fell Terrier.. We call them Fell, Or terrier. Simular to the pitbull. But not in looks. Breed for ability.. These are easy to get. But of top quality lines extremely difficult. It's took me 3 years to find what we call a none watered down line. Or scatter bred dog. And I have had her a week today. They still work these dogs. Her parents are both working dogs. Internet may tell you different what is the best line.. But I waited 3 years to Nick Stevens lines.. The others I could have had.
If you have any questions about staffs I had the breed for 20 years. So I might be able to help..
    pete.mcadam@yahoo.com
Since the kc got hold of the staff.. Reduce the size.. The geans still there but has breathing problems, and eye issues.. Your AM staff is more close to the original breed. But has the wrong jawbone.. Got too much pitbull in it. A true pit is out of its league face to face with any of the original breed. Not strong enough. The most cleaver was the staff. The English bull terrier most stupid. The strongest British bulldog. Now its a little fat thing. Can't walk, can't breathe.. Life span 7 years at best. The longest fights were the pitbull. There were the size and build of a whippet of today. With a square muzzle like the Am staff. They are breeding bullhounds today. Finding an old line staff x that wth either a greyhound or whippet. They look a little like the original.. Depending on what they will use it for. But to get the breed back will take generations. Because the line needs the terrier.. That's the key. The kerry. Nobody is sure where it slot in. That's why there's alot black, and blue come through.. Blue become fashionable. In the show, it would not be there. Or back in the day. Because original colour was mainly white with brindle patches. Then come brindle. Then black.. Black brindle.. Your dog.. Brindle when back to white, Giving red / brown. Line breeding become produced another throw back.. A fault.. Apparently dog was useless in dog men eyes. Rednose. They used to nut them. (kill) usually shoot them. Then they started to use the dog with the fault in Ireland. And became old family Rednose. This is all long before America was discovered. When you got them.. All breeds were legal. They were taken over by the Irish, the English.. Carrying on with their weekly entertainment. All breeding was near perfect by then. Owners took to the new world with them what dog they preferred to use. For dog on dog. Big stuff as we say. Or small stuff. Depending on what was your thing. Some preferred rats to kill. As I have said before.. All geans are still in saffs.. The size has done the breathing.. As you say.. Don't know when to quit.. He won't.. That's over 200 years of selective breeding.. Its too the end. Dead. That is all he understands.. All or nothing. There all the same.. Weight class and training.. Staff all day. Because he was a smarter dog. But there's hardly anything I know of close to the correct breed left. Lots turned to the pit after the sport became illegal.. Being maximum 30lb little dog you could hide under coat walking into a tavern.. No be seen. Where all others were big dogs. So with more breed the winners only, shoot the looser and damage was probably too bad anyway. Survival of the very best.
Good example is, I think you call them bully's.. Big pit. That's strong.. But low extra wide. I have seen them.. Can't breath properly.. Your staff is small simular to the kc stuff. He will go 5 to 7 miles.. That bully 1 mile at best. Lay down.. Original breed staff 10 miles running easy.
Its wrong what they are doing. Never mind it would not stand any chance against your dog. Just it's general health. Another thing nobody seems to understand.. There were 3 in the pit. 2 dogs and a ref. Make sure no foul play by owners and decide the winner.. None any of the bull breeds would ever bite a human. That's pitbull included. Even a growl towards anyone..never mind a bite.. Champion.. Winner.. Dog bitch.. Don't matter.. There n then. Get nutted. (dead) No barking.. Before, during or after.. Another bad sign..
I love the breed.. Some times I wish I had enough room to do the breeding program to get the size back. Fix the breathing.. We got this stupid dangerous dog act.. Called pitb type.. Basically some so called expert tells you your dog is a type of pitbull. Bang.. its seized.. Gets the needle. Anything staff not to the breed standard.. Loads got the needle. Because the kc say a staff should be now maximum 16' male.. 14' female. The government butchered thousands of dogs. The word "type" is the open door they used.. To take dogs and kill them.
Your never find a more loving loyal breed.
Had the staffy hand shake yet ?

He was my constant companion for 9 great years.I'd love to adopt another one, but English Staffies are few and far between in the USA. Here in Australia they have been very popular since the 80's, we've had 3 Staffy's over the last 32 years and lost our last one Tazzie just recently, she would bark, but mostly did the Staffy talk to other dogs in the area at night. You are right that they look you square in the eye, Tazzie would even attempt to wink back at me while doing so. We have 5 grown children and 3 of them have Staffy's as well. As you know there's nothing like a Staffy smile. will check out some more of your videos. Alan

Soooo refreshing to see an American who actually knows about English staffies! I'm in Australia, and staffies are one of the most popular dogs here, as in the UK. There's so much ignorance about English staffies in the US, and I now realise why, and it's because they're not well known in the US. I'm always getting into arguments online with Americans who insist that they're pitbulls, and the fact of the matter is, they're not. They're a bull breed, but not a pitbull. If they were classified as a pitbull in Australia, they'd be subject to the dangerous dog laws (that's how pitties are classified in most states in Australia) and would need to have special enclosures, signage on your house, all that kind of thing. So thank you for being so well informed, and spreading that knowledge with your countrymen! xoo

Bliss certainly acts like a Staffy! Since she was a rescue dog we will never know for sure. But it don't really matter! We love her!
One difference that the breeder mentioned was the shape of the dog's head. A Pit Bull has a round head like a human, A Staffy has an oval-shaped head!

It's nice to see staffies getting some love in America. Staffies are one of the most popular breeds here, amazing little dogs, I've owned dogs my entire life, I'm 34, I currently don't own a dog but my past 2 dogs were staffies and they were without a doubt not only the best dogs I've owned but probably the best friends I've had. They were perfect in every way. And you're right about the barking, I only heard my boy trooper bark of howl twice, once at a bug on the ground of all things and once, which is weird, but he howled when the dog next door passed away. Everyone was his pal and he was a very sensitive guy so he must of known his pal next door was gone. But yea, staffies are amazing. Great video!!

Hey Dan, my little love Lulu went to the vet and it's not good news... The lump has spread into the groin and possibly else where... As I said she's nearly 13(aug) so all I can do is keep her comfortable and happy, which even though she's not well, she still acts like a puppy... Crazy dogs lol... I don't know if I will get another, but if I do, you can guarantee it will be an E.staffy... I'm trying not to cry writing this, as you well know, I will have her on my knee... Goodluck with your baby girl and I'm sure Shadow will be a wonderful big brother... Heaps of love from Australia, Shaz and Lulu ❤️💋❤️💋❤️💋🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

Hi hi I'm from the UK 🇬🇧 got the facts down pritty well.Nice to see the staffy love in the 🇺🇸.
Tip with the over heating I used to keep a 2L bottle of water in the fridge or freezer depending on how long I was going out for to rub it on his chest. A small tea towel to cool the chest if the bottle is still frozen to prevent shock, it helped quite a bit in the hot weather.
Oh and with the play time they need atleast 90min a day as they can scale a 6foot fence with ease trust me on that one 😂

Greetings from South Africa where we are staffy mad!My staff has no ball drive. But give him a tyre or rope and hes happy. Even happier when he gets to sit on the couch with me. The only dog for me. You should go to shows and show your dog. Great way to meet breeders and friends.

I used to be super fearful and had a slight dislike of Pitties and Am Staffies but as I’ve been educating myself and talking to my neighbor that has a couple of Pitties I know love them. THEY WERE trained in bull baiting and dog fighting long ago but I could definitely see myself getting one if my lifestyle was right for them. Great dogs 👍👍

Love my Staffy. I can agree with everything except the barking. She's only 6 months old, but Luna will bark and it's loud! However, it's usually for attention and not at random strangers or dogs. For instance, if the cat is ignoring her...she gets upset and starts to bark! I will add one thing. I was surprised to learn that most Staffys hobby is chewing and they will chew anything if they are bored an unattended. We invest in high quality, digestible chew treats. The harder the object the better. Antlers are about the only thing that lasts. Also, most Staffys are high energy dogs. They love exercise and are very trainable so expect to invest time upfront with funneling that energy into positive activity. Otherwise you may be in for a chaotic relationship.

My staff is the same, She doesn't know when to stop running after the ball at full speed. About 7 or 8 times, I thought she was going to have a heart attack. She's now 5 years old and luckily she has calmed down and started pacing herself but it was so scary. Every time it happened I thought she was going to die. I'm in the UK and even hear most people don't understand the difference between a real Staff. So many times people are shocked when I tell them she is a pure breed with champion bloodlines. They think Staffs are much taller. You have a really beautiful little boy there bro. congrats on the new baby, I'm sure he will be great with the baby because my one calms down when she is around small kids. I just think these dogs have a great loving family nature. My one hates it when everybody is not at home and only really calms down when she knows everyone is at home.

One of the most loyal and best breeds we’ve owned along with the Dogo Argentino and Rottweiler.
Only thing our SBT barks at is snowmen 😂 but he is very vocal

They do tend to oveheat in warm weather you got to watch that as they are stubborn they will walk and play until they collapse so plenty of shade in your walks on hot days and keep em shorter is my advice

And unfortunately they still have a bad rap but love your video and definitely identifying with your comments about the breed. Thanks for the video because they are the kindest dogs you’ve ever met.
