Not even finished yet on the video and watching as I type. Fantastic listening to her. Tons of knowledge from her experience and inspiring. Huge kudos to you Ted if/when you take this on. Big respect. Just thinking that this hike could definitely be a life changing event. Thanks for the interview Sophie and Ted.
Last summer I hiked the Kungsleden with my girlfriend. We met quite a lot who were hiking Gröna Bandet / The Green Ribbon. All of them were super friendly and gladly shared any experiences / info they had regarding their hikes. It was amazing to finally get the opportunity to meet other people who wanted to geek out talking about gear and so on! I had some very nice talks with WayfaringInTheWild and Offtohike who both finished the Green Ribbon in 2020. Really cool guys! Kinda made me wanna try do it myself one day (glad they recently changed some of the rules regarding boats, haha).
This is so inspiring, but one question that always come up in my head when I listen to hikers that are out for these long times. And especially when they quit their jobs to do it... HOW do you pay for it? In Sofie's case, yes she had a well paid job and might have saved some money. But it sounds like she's planning to, not go back to work, just hike 😂 I love that thought but... money? How? 😅
That is true, hence UA-cam for me, trying to earn enough to make a living out of it. it's not just money coming in but also money going out, I'm very economical with everything!
