    My fiancee left me when I was 23. A few weeks later I went to a meditation class for some kind of help. The meditation teacher immediately asked me, "What great loss have you suffered? I said " How did you know?" He said " Nobody goes to a meditation class without having a sense of loss".

    *I USED TO BE A MILLIONAIRE* in 2015 I suffered brain damage in an attack my narcissist girlfriend organised on me. 18 months later I was bankrupt and homeless.

    I believe that one of the greatest secrets to happiness in life is to always be thankful for what we have, because that automatically causes your subconscious mind to search for reasons to be thankful for. Which also causes us not to focus on the negatives things in our life. Then we slowly start to realize that we have much much more positive things in our lives, as opposed to negative things,, and this will end up making us even more happier . It's what I call a Happiness circle, as opposed to a Viscous Circle,, and the best part of it all, is that the more Thankful you become, the more the reasons for positivity and happiness will increase in your life.

To develop you need these challenges to grow with insight, grow compassion and empathy....makes "problems" seem small and thus liberating because these challenges aren't personal...they are the way things work on this planet. Be present, practice opportunities....it will never be totally satisfactory...there is another dimension to who you are....there is more to you then the personality and the personal history....I found this clip soothing to the spirit....bookmarked it to revisit when needed :)

    However and as I much agree with disruption aiding the evolution of consciousness... Let's not forget that Mr. Tolle became highly successful in this material plane (through his writing and talks) and according to himself, thanks to and as a consequence of his own dissatisfaction and suffering (as he has revealed through his writing and previous talks). I conclude and believe that this success was inspired and achieved exactly because of having attained to this consciousness and state of enlightenment. It would be great if he spoke of whether awakening could be or if it actually IS the foundation to becoming more successful in our lives as a consequence of coming into alignment and under the guidance of a Higher Intelligence that we didn't have access to before.. This "Universal Source" of which he has spoken about too.. Thank You

I recently surprised myself by explaining to a friend that the illness I had had was a blessing because it made me aware of how wonderful being healthy is. And the power outage made me grateful for electricity which I take for granted most days. The difficulties remind me that I -we - live better than kings did 100 years ago. That “You might have noticed it” made me laugh hard.

    • @tempesnyder6243
      @tempesnyder6243 3 роки тому +2

      Yes, I should think so - you could say that because our lives end up with us “working out our story “.

      It seems we are here to dissolve the story. the story is inherently problematic...

    • @freetibet1000
      @freetibet1000 3 роки тому +5

      @@natk4275 Ironically, to look for our purpose in life is what holds us back from finding it. As long as we think we can see a personal “narrative” or meaning we are stuck with the illusion of self and thus separated from the experience of a greater reality, beyond the duality of self and other. At the end of a spiritual journey even the journey itself must be abandoned in order to reach transcendence. The Buddha finally sat down under a tree totally exhausted after six years of tremendous hardships and abandoned any further laborious attempts trying to break away from the inner hindrances that prevented him from reaching transcendence and liberalization. Because all the hardships he had gone through had brought him to a very near collapse his complete surrender that night under the tree became the breakthrough moment that eradicated the last vestiges of the illusory self identity. But without that arduous journey that precludes a complete surrender will we achieve transcendence by just give everything up? Or, are we too destined to travel the gradual path, step by step, before our own breakthrough is mature to happen?

      If you have read any story books or watched any TV Show, you'll notice that there's always an issue, an issue that is always overcome, and the outcome is always positive. This means that you'll have to go through hardships to reach that positive conclusion. If there's no problem there's no story. It's a universal thing that every human must face

    • @freetibet1000
      @freetibet1000 3 роки тому +3

      If all delusions of duality have been transcended there is no need for a “personal story”. It just doesn’t appear in the mind of such a person. In Buddhist thought the practitioner is never asked to explore or work out his own personal story (that belongs more to the realm of psychotherapy). The practitioner is instructed into methods of finding out the true nature of that we call “self - life - lifestory, etc”. Instead of just hearing or reading about our own true nature from a teacher in Buddhism the practitioner is encouraged to explore and discover the true nature for himself. If that process is fully completed the person is no longer in the need of a spiritual path nor a “story” about himself any more. It just doesn’t make sense any more. He will have realized the illusory nature of “me - self - life - spiritual path - progress - results - suffering - no suffering, etc”. He will have arrived at the beginning. He is awake and have realized his own awakened nature to be timeless and perfect.
      The paradox is due to our dualistic confusion we believe in a self that needs to be placed in a narrative within the illusion of time of past - present - future. From that perspective we try to transport ourselves to a state of enlightenment which cannot be experienced within such dualistic confusion. This is where the need for an experienced teacher comes in. Although this conundrum must be understood and transcended by the practitioner usually it cannot be done without relaying on a qualified teacher and proven teachings.
      So, the conclusion is that for a Buddhist practitioner the path towards enlightenment may superficially look like a “lifestory” but in reality the whole meaning behind this illusory practice is to reach the complete abandonment of all dualistic views. To reach the state of absolute truth, which is utterly beyond all types of fabricated ideas and dualities. To reach the true nature that’s always been there, since time without beginning. But without the illusory path of breaking down all hindrances and obstacles we will never reach the time-less state beyond duality. We will remain in our present state of delusion that is the source of countless sufferings forever.

      Hi. I think You make a good point. I think there's a little weakness in some of the framing Eckhart does. So, related to what You are saying, the grip/impact that an issue has on You at the egoic level cannot be dissolved by simple observations that it can't be all that bad. In the egoic frame, there are some genuinely very painful things to deal with and accept. These things have a realness and cannot be simply brushed away. Coming to terms with many of these things, at least partly, is going to take place in our normal state of being and our normal frames of reference. Denying their meaning or significance is not helpful. It is only after sitting with and working through these issues and events that we go through a process that can serve to make us more resourceful to our approach to life and more grown up. What Eckhart talks about beyond the egoic domain, has value in that it gives us another perspective to view and come to terms with our lives. It may be that perspective is broader and more encompassing and liberating, which is to be celebrated. However, important personal work will generally need to be done using both egoic and nonegoic frames of reference, and both have value. If for no other reason, then that the path to the nonegoic domain is generally very gradual and takes a significant length of time. Hope this helps. Sorry I took long to explain. 🙂🙂

    What makes a human being really happy? Two main things: first, connection to nature; second, connection (which means sharing the same beliefs, the same culture, the same rituals) with other human beings, in your closest neighborhood. And empathy, which goes with it. The rest is illusion...
    With modern life in rich countries, we have none of these things. That's why we're so unhappy.

    I love this segment!!! Thank you for saving me from myself, Dear Eckhart.... the past couple years have been a strange whirlwind of ideas and wisdoms learned from suffering with mental health stigmas and my spiritual awakening. I get angry that I haven't made money, yet. However, my stability is more important for my long-term goals. I'd love to hurry myself, but ambition takes time when you've felt like a loon up until recently. I finally stopped having temper tantrums.... Woo-hoo haha
