I've been a pilot for 47 years flying in/out of LGA. This video was excellent for both visuals and narration. Good job! 👍
Thanks! I'm honored that a pilot which such experience enjoyed my video! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your service! #911neverforget
Great video and narrative. As a lifelong “jaded” New Yorker, I can confirm those Manhattan skyline views coming into LGA never gets old. Nicely done sir!
Thank you MaryNYC1!
@@PeterMasella I don't suppose you could wind back 18 years or more and take the BA01 flight from LHR to JFK ? That would be something else with modern filming. 👍👍👍.
@@markwestwood9730 I wish!
One of the best commentator videos I have ever watched. Great work Peter.
Wow, thanks for that great comment and thanks for watching, Mark!
I’m really enjoying these detailed narrations. I’m glad the algorithm sent me this channel.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching!
Wow, I saw my Bronx home neighborhood at Clason Point. Thank you for your video!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
LGA is a very busy airport. It was always my delight to sit by my window in Astoria to watch the ever busy landings and takeoffs of planes. I was on vacation from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Awesome!

Another substantial effort. Many thanks!

Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Excellent views Peter as always !
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Great channel. Your narration is perfect. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks, will do - and thanks for watching! More to come!
Spectacular! The approach over Flushing usually gives you a view of Manhattan on the left, and the turn over Flushing is pretty exciting. Please do more of these but at night!
Will do!
I was trying to look for my building. lol. This is such a well-made video. Thank you, Pete. You have made us all proud of being New Yorkers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your narration and steady video recording is just awesome. Beautiful. Perfect. Awesome. Thank you so much for your efforts in making this great video for us with great editing. Stay safe.
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!
Outstanding video! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Peter Masella's lucid, superb and engaging narration is extremely enjoyable! All the prominent places are precisely pointed out, with comments on their claim to fame! So commendable. So impeccable. So informative... Please post as many such video-clips as you can! Keep up the Good Work!!!
Stay tuned for more videos like this!
Very well done !
Spectacular views, and excellent narration.
Thanks James!
I have lived in NYC for almost 20 years, I learned a lot of the place names beyond Manhattan in your videos! It is amazing to know one’s city better looking above from the air!
Thank you very much!
Very well done. Nicely narrated. I was never bored.
Thanks!
Incredibly beautiful and interesting. Great video, thx a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing this video. I really enjoyed the explanations. I learned a lot today!
That is awesome! Glad you learned a lot and thanks so much for watching!
Man, Americans build impressive cities. City lay-out fascinate me endlessly.
sadly theyre all dumps now
We'll be flying in to LGA from DSM on the 10th... my first time in the city... looking forward to it. Thanks for posting these videos, I just hope the weather is this clear when we get there!
I hope you get great weather too! Don’t forget to check the wind direction before you leave to try to optimize your view!
NYC is not like it used to be when I went there for the first time in June of 1993. The city still was a bit gritty.
Wow, incredible. I spend a lot of time watching videos like this on UA-cam. I have posted a few myself but I must give you Academy Award for best approach and landing video with narration. With the type of luck I have this would have been an ILS approach with minimums.
Wow, thank you!
This was wonderful. I've always been fascinated by things like this. I sure hope to get to New York soon and you've given me a great idea on how to do this for my channel.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Peter. Another totally enjoyable, informative, and absolutely technically accurate video. If you are not a pilot or controller, you're one of the most knowledgeable laymen I've ever heard. Thank you for this very professionally-produced channel, it's one of the best.
Thanks so much! I’m just passionate about this stuff!
@@PeterMasella You're welcome sir! I'll be watching regularly and recommending to others.
That's Awesome ☝🏾 haven't flown to NYC since 1992 thanks for sharing, just Subscribed 💞 saw your JFK landing also ☺️👍🏾
Thanks for the sub! :-)
Incredible video And commentary. Safe travels
Thank you kindly!
Great Video= really enjoyed your narration
Thanks!!
You flew over my house in Westchester. Excellent narrative! Thank you.
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
Wow! What a great video with great explanations. I love New York City and enjoy this immensely.
Thanks Anna!
Best video ever of flying over New York!
Thank you!
Great Video, Great Narration, thanks. I was able to freeze it and see both my apartment building off the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn and my office building on Broadway in Manhattan at the same time.
Cool! Thanks for watching!
of all the approaches into NYC ... this by FAR is my favorite. I see my job (DTBrooklyn), My Home (Upper West Side), My mothers home and where I grew up (Harlem) , My College (Columbia) and my sisters home in New Rochelle ... it's the absolute best to spot landmarks. Great narration!!
It’s such a fantastic approach! Thanks!
Good explanation of everything. Back I the 90s it seemed every time I left or arrived at LGA wed go over the east river.
That is common too! Thanks for watching!
Awesome job! Thank you
Thank you too!
great video Peter thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Wow, that's an incredible amount of information and education about NYC and the flight patterns. Also breathtaking scenery. I'm going to have to re-watch it a few times to soak it all in. Do you record the ATC radio traffic somewhere else and then go back to your footage or do you listen as you fly?
Thanks Preston! There is a lot to take in. I listen to ATC live and also go back!
Yesterday was a beautiful day and I enjoyed watching the airplanes from my backyard in New Rochelle as they descended to make landing at LGA. It was awesome. Thanks for a great video.
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
Wow what an approach! LGA has the best climbs and approaches its unreal. Seeing NYC that close is incredible! Great job Peter!
Thanks so much!
i live in Flushing, and i like those afternoons with wind coming in from the NW cuz i can open my apt door a crack and get a swoosh of cross-ventilation in thru the window and out the apt door. Those days coincide with planes flying right over my apt bldg too for the reasons explained! Great video!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
I like your videos and your commentary
As a airline enthusiasts and window seat viewer ,you're definitely getting a new sub and a 👍 om all your uploads. Nice work!!!
Welcome aboard! Thanks so much for watching! It's not worth the flight if you're not in a window seat!
Great video !! I am a native New Yorker and have been in and out of LaGuardia a million times. I had no idea about most of the details you discussed. Very interesting and informative. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Great video, well narated, very informative!!
Thanks so much, John!
Just fab! Thank you -
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic video!
Thank you!
Great video! You know a lot about NYC
Thanks!
Awesome video. Very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was an amazing vid!
Thank you!!!!!
I usually don’t like narrated vids but this… this is different and I love it! And now I know departures and approaches in NY thanks to you !
Very nice! Thanks for watching!
WTF are vids?
What a stunning city. Been there only once, will go back one day hopefully.
It is stunning from above as well as on the ground!
Hudson Visual 22 is the best approach into NYC. I always hoped for this view and sometimes got it. It’s worth the whole ticket!
Totally agree!
Nice vlog!
Thanks!
Fantastic !
I've got great memories of our last tour across the pond. I selected the right side seats during anticipated check-in for our Orlando > LGA after checking the weather. And the reward was marvelous : a runway 13 approach a bit after sunset with the same views except a right turn just North of Central Park at a very low altitude.
It looked like we were lower than the top of the skyscrapers. Absolutely gorgeous !
I was praying the universe for that approach but seems to have forgotten the name as I write this comment. It's roughly the same Hudson approach from the South, then right turn over Manhattan and straight into runway 13.
Certainly my favorite one.
This was a great video with exquisite views !
Greetings from Paris.
Thanks for watching! Sounds like you flew the "River Visual Runway 13" Approach
@@PeterMasella Ah yes, that's the one !
I keep forgiving "river" and replacing it with "Hudson".
Anyway, I was stunned by how low the River Visual 13 approach is. Especially just after sunset, the top of many skyscrapers seems to be above our altitude when doing the right turn, and that's mesmerizing !
Thanks a lot for the video and making me remember the name.
I agree. Great video and great narration. Landed there 30 years ago on Ozark airlines and flew up the west side. Still amazed at how long you fly and still see sky scrapers.
Cool! Thank you Carol!
Nice view. It is very rare but I have been on a flight that went up the Hudson the same way but turned right and went straight into runway 13. Also I never knew Rikers Island was considered the Bronx. Another great video.
Yes that is rare! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for watching!
Great video! Once over lower Westchester I was able to screenshot my neighborhood zooming in on my house.
Ha! Thanks for watching!
Bravo Peter! Fantastic…..👍
Thank you!
Great Job. Tnx's 73
Thanks!
Great vid.
Thanks!
Extraordinary mate. I'm kinda speechless. The videography is technically awesome *and* focuses on the right things.
And although I know most of the facts, the quality of the narration brings them together in a very coherent picture that I was missing before
And to top it off you have a great screen presence.
FFS, I have a very high bar for subscribing. I've never had more than 10 subscriptions. But I'm feckin subscribed.
Amazing.
Thanks a ton! I appreciate your comment and subscribing!
As a former NYer this never gets old. Always interesting views coming in for landings at LaGuardia. Thanks for the narrative.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
I live in Texas and you identify things I've always wondered what they were named so I appreciate that and after watching two of your videos subscribed. 👍
Glad I could help! Thanks!!
Truly a breathless view of Manhattan. TFS
Thanks for watching!
Another great video! I'm wondering if you review ATC communications after your flight to hear what was said between the controllers and pilots...
Yes, I do. I am also very familiar with the procedures in NYC so even without the ATC I can make some determinations.
Coming in to r22 always scares me a little. It always looks like we're going to touch down a little short (in the water). For some reason it was worse flying in Eastern Electras. BTW a possibly even more spectacular view might be the same approach, but on a clear night! Great narration; thanks.
He did a video of the same approach at night 👉 ua-cam.com/video/nwkL1xR5Mig/v-deo.html 🙂
As a person that lives in the country outside of a small town with a house on 3.5 acres, my mind can barely comprehend Mid-Town Manhattan.
I have just booked my first trip and first flight to NYC and I am so excited. I know I'm in for a treat by looking at the views shown here. I am flying from the south (GSO).
Very excited for you! Welcome to NYC!
Thank you .
Quite the view! Fantastic commentary and great video! 13:37... what's left of the old iconic LGA tower... Soon to be demolished to make way for the taxiway lines.
Thanks! Yes, that old tower will be completely gone soon :-(
I chose this bc I've never seen LGA but have a 1940s postcard of it that I love. Pretty! Too bad the old is getting torn down! Sad! Your info is plenty. Glad others understand. My brain heard a foreign language. Lol. I appreciated it though. Thx.
Wow wow I love this video great I am a big fan of plane and I love to fly and travel I enjoy every bit of it thank you very much 🤗 amazing 👍🙏
Thanks for watching!
Excellent recording. Truly, truly excellent............ If one may, what device was used to record..........??? Thank You!!!
Thank you! I use an iPhone for my videos.
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
Marvelous!!!
Thanks!
You present excellent videos with great narration. It looks like you're based near MSP. Have you ever done videos of any Sun Country flights? Thanks.
Thanks so much. No, I’m not based at MSP nor have I flown Sun Country!
Ah the memories. TY for a wonderfully narrated video. What is it like flying into the new LGA? I was able to see a lot of the construction before leaving NYC.
Glad you enjoyed it! Since I am flying on Delta Air Lines which operates out of terminals C and D, most of the flights arrive/depart from the "old LGA" since Delta is the last airline to get the new gates (only 1 of 4 Delta concourses is completed and this flight arrived at terminal C which only has one active old concourse as well as a new concourse under development and not ready for use) On my channel, I have many videos documenting the progress of construction on LGA's east end (Terminals C and D). Terminal B, which is home to other airlines, is a well documented terminal in terms of construction, and is currently "the new LGA" as most of it is completed. There are many videos of terminal B that feature "the new LGA". So I can only partially speak about "the new LGA" since all of my flights this year have been on Delta Air Lines. I have departed out of the 1 new Delta concourse a few times (only accessed from terminal D) which is gorgeous.
TY?
Newly subscribed 😉. I’m interested to know how you have a such in depth knowledge of flying 😊
Hi Sassy! I have been studying airspace in NYC for many years and with the ability to listen to ATC online, it makes the learning process easy!
I loved seeing everything but Central Park was my fav. part.
Central park is a great place! Thanks for watching!
Lovely landing video. Cheers from Mumbai India ❤️💜💚💜
Thank you very much!
Excellent Enterprising Endeavour in every parameter. Hearty Greetings from India 🎉🙏
Many thanks!
Awesome video, had the pleasure to visit New York in 2019, fabulous to see Manhattan from the air, New York a truly wonderful city
Glad you enjoyed it! It sure is wonderful!
Awesome video! 4:46 I can see my bedroom window @ 79th/Bdway!
Nice! Thanks for watching!
Nice presentation.
Thank you!
Beautiful city. I want to finally go there.
There's also a lot of ugliness there, so be prepared. If you take a cab from JFK to Manhattan, you'll think you're in some depressed 3rd world country - until you get to Manhattan, when it becomes beautiful.
@@gaetanomaximus8650 It's all in one. It's a complex city but amazing nonetheless.
رحلة ممتعة ❤😂👍🥰
Great video. Nice photography. How did you get to listen to ATC?
Thanks! ATC is available on the LiveATC app.
Peter, you luck out and your Milton approach clip into JFK was truly amazing. I always loved this approach in this video as it’s the best approach into New York. However, I mostly used to get the Expressway “tanks” approach which is impressive but nowhere near as nice. It must be rather unsettling for those not familiar into 22 when it seems the pilot is going to land in the East River. The same can be said for 31 after the hook by the stadium.
Glad you enjoyed it! I'm sure many passengers do get unsettled! I hope my videos calm them!
Excellent trip report, really outstanding. It is a pity that not recorded in 4K. Bravo.
Many thanks!
Great video as usual. I was at the Jax Inn Diner on northern blvd not too long ago and the planes were coming right over us. I assume they were landing on this same runway but from the south where the tires almost touch the car roofs on the grand central.
Yes, that would be runway 4 (runway 22 in the opposite direction). Here is more info: ua-cam.com/video/Cg5RSuFtfcc/v-deo.html
Very impressive.
Thank you! Cheers!
