This pattern uses quite a few techniques and I would say it is not for beginners. It might be good for advanced beginners, which basically means someone who has mastered all the basic stitches and just needs to learn some of the other techniques. This project uses a magic circle (or ring), it is worked in joined rounds. It has increasing and decreasing and post stitches. This skills are easy to learn individual, but trying to learn them all at once could be overwhelming. I would look up and practice each of these skills individually first.
I love this pattern. I'm having fun making them and gifting them. I have different sizes of yarn I would like to use up could you tell me the measurements for the wide part of the hat for each size? Only because I am not sure I am aching the same size intended by your pattern. Thank you.

It is very very difficult to include more than one size in a video. I have been experimenting with it in my newer videos and I am still gathering feedback to see if the process is helpful or confusing.
I would call it easy not beginner friendly. Mostly we only use double crochet, but you will work in joined rounds, you have to follow the pattern for the increases and we are working in the front and back lops for the brim. So I would label it easy but NOT a beginner pattern. That said some beginners maybe be up for the challenge and willing to learn the skills needed to complete it.

What is the hat measurement when all done for the adult hat. I finished and it looks really huge. I used a weight of 4 yarn and my hook says g 4.50. I followed your pattern off of Pinterest.
If you used a #4 weight yarn it is mostly likely too large. I used a #3 weight yarn and #4 weight is double the thickness. Based on the gauge the Adult size hat when laying flat would have a 10 inch diameter and the circumference of the brim would be 20.5 inches.

The numbers in the parenthesis are the different sizes. The hat starts the same for all sizes but the larger hats have more increase rows to make them larger. They all have the same number of decrease rows.

It sounds like your tension might be too tight. You can try crocheting looser or maybe use a larger hook. What is your gauge?

Great video! Im using a bulky yarn and want to know how wide the hat is before the 3 rows of dc's.
What size are you making? I can tell you that 6 rows gives you a diameter of 5 inches. So 12 rows would be a diameter of 10 inches.

Yes it would be altered. So if your last increase row was 12 DC, inc then your first decrease row will be 12 DC, decrease.

If you use a smaller hook then the hat will come out smaller so you may need to make a larger size than you intended. It will take some experimenting.

If you only do 8 rows of increases and then the even rows then decrease you will have a smaller hat. (Assuming you gauge is the same.)

Did you check your gauge? If you crochet looser than I do then your hat will turn out bigger. 11 DC X 6 Rows = 2.5 inches

I would count your stitches to make sure you are not adding too many stitches.

The sample in the video is a child's size and has an 18 inch diameter brim. There are other sizes with the written pattern.

Hi, i have little confusion for Row 1, you said 3 chain and 12 dc. So it means it has a total of 13chains?
I do not count my turning chain as a stitch. You will only count 12 stitches. At the end of row 2 you will have 24 sts.
