Well, the Netherlands is maybe small, but we've got great entertainment!
Defqon1 Festival is a hardstyle music festival in Biddinghuizen. With over 70,000 visitors every year, it is the biggest hardstyle music festival in the world.
After an absence of two years, Defqon.1 returns stronger than ever by adding a full day to what already is the world’s biggest hardstyle festival. For the first time ever, our journey will take place from Thursday till Sunday, setting the stage for a legendary journey which includes a record number of artists, specials and shows.
One of the biggest additions is Fresh Friday, a complete festival day that rivals the magnitude of the Saturday with all areas open throughout the day and two major show moments at the RED.
With a reputation to bring only the most elite to their festivals, Defqon1 Festival’s recent lineups have included Andy Svge, Max Enforcer, Ransomnia & Friends and more.
Held at the Evenemententerrein Biddinghuizen, this festival mixes the joy of a classic outdoor festival with its hardcore music.

The best edition of Defqon.1 I've been. After 3 long years we finally reunited at the holy grounds we call home 🧡
Love the reaction. I was there in the crowd and it was indeed amazing. You just hugged the people around you that you didn't know from the beggining. After the closing ritual a lot of people just sat down on the ground where they were standing before and talked about the 4 amazing days. I remember the "speechless" feeling I had. Like, "what have I been a part of", you couldn't understand the emotions you had. Q-Dance really stepped it up this year. Thanks for the reaction!

And then for me to realise, I live only 10 miles away from the place they have this festival and I've never been there, but last year the music was so loud, i could hear it from home

This is why i am into hardstyle as well. The big difference between there crowds is in metal you still have to follow some kind of clothing type or some will look at you (have been on many concerts with my parents) and in hardstyle you can come as whatever you want, like in a carneval ^^ And the show.. the effort they put into it i just insane.
I was there myself, it was as stunning as it looks. The sound, the vibes, the visuals, the stage, the people, everything was fucking amazing there.
hardstyle is not main stream here in the Netherlands so if you go to a party/festival like this you will be a part of the crowd because we go there all for the same reason....party!!! we are a down to earth kind of people here but in a crowd like that we are on another planet and party hard nice reaction btw

Only Q-Dance can pull off a show like this. They’ve been doing this for more than 20 years now. They’re seriously good at it. I was at this edition of Defqon 1, and it was seriously one of their best editions ever. Gonna be hard to top.

I was there in the crowd. The whole thing is so epic and emotional. Being there with all the fireworks, the music, surrounded by friends, after 4 days of partying, I couldn't help but cry a bit. I felt so happy that I was able to experience it.

Some extra info to explain the weight of this song. Defcon is a 4 days festival and this was the first edition after the corona restrictions were lifted. And this song was the last cherry on the cake of a fantastic 4 days after so long being locked in our homes so the feeling of comaderie, which is always high in this scene, was so elevated during this edition. And then this song at the end.... It was amazing.

We went to the defqon in 2019.. Me, the wife and our 5 kids and their girlfriends. in total 11 of us. At that time in the age of 13 to 22. And it is as we say over here in the Netherlands.. Rave to the Grave

Your reaction is beautiful. I can only imagine it's no way near your favorite music, but in this case the experience surpassed any favoritism or genre.
I've been here several times ('03/'04/'15&'16) and always had a blast. Even though is pretty hard music and could attract the rougher part of society, it somehow doesn't. I've been to over 300 festivals and parties over the past 20-something year and just can't get over the fact that these events always top anything else. It's the overall message but above all its the eagerness of the crowd to be together for a few years.
I've worked on this festival for two editions and seen the lists of preparations...this show is just SO expensive and to make a better and more immersive show each year is no simple feat. They do it to thank the visitors, the 40.000+ on the camping site who stay there for 3 days...and on Saturday the 20.000+ extra folks that enjoy just one day.
You're Ozzie's right? There has been festivals of this organization down under...they might still do.
I've got too much to tell but I don't want to overdo the superlatives...
In summer there's over 400 events each weekend here in the Netherlands, some small, some big, some with many genres, sone fixed on one style.
I do have a 'script' with all these preparations for this festival somewhere. I can't share, but I can tell you the short version is over 250 pages.
It is the beat that will catch you even me age 60 not to lissen to every day but to party on it is oke

Those sub wolfer notes have been used for centuries and used to inspire tears and strong feelings of awe in cathedrals that had huge Pipe Organs.
The fireworks is brilliant all over.. but the best bits are at the centre sort of on the wings left and right depicting the flapping of the giant wings like it's flying away. The whole fireworks is part of this movement from the flapping of wings do the dust it releases and the sound of hitting the sound barrier with them big bang's.

The people singing in the song "This is who we are" are various hardstyle djs.
I think you have the best of these kind of festivals in the low-countries. This include besides the Netherlands, also Belgium (Tomorrowland!).

the perfect balance between the feeling of emotion and power in my opinion hardstyle is one big family if you go to festivals like that nobody looks at you weird everyone is there to have a good time and that is the beauty of hardstyle ❤
Nice. I live in a area with many of these festivals, in the Eindhoven area. The closest one is 3 km away, and I feel the windows tremble sometimes.
It's for sure a experience, and you'll meet people from many nations. My first one was in 1996,a inside party. Many followed.
It's really a joyful coming together, not only because of certain pills and powders.

It is structured. That's why it is good. It has all kinds of comprimises buty in the end there is a structure that stands. And that's preccely how the Netherlands works.
Make the time to go guys, push it to the top of your bucket list, you will remember it for the rest of your lives.
The Dutch know how to party. We can be a grumping complaining bunch of rude individuals.....but when the partying starts, we really go for it and transform into a collective force....You really catched the collective joy and happiness this is giving.

the closing ritual is the final moment of a whole festival weekend and it is the perhaps most visited moment besides power hour and the endshow... the endshow is on saturday, the closing on sunday... and if you have the chance to be there... if you like the music... take the chance... it is insane
