Yesterday I heard this song for the first time. It was on the local AM station and I stopped everything I was doing. Yesterday I heard this song for the fiftieth time. ...still blown away by how perfectly it was constructed. There are no things to say that already are unsaid in the lyrics. I imagine this song started out way busier when it was being wrote... but the fine tuned craftsmanship whittled it down to simply stated, ..a masterpiece. Not just every songwriter, but also every human should look at their world with this lens. What a humble song... to admit it's all you and accept all the blame!! In these days of "look at my truck look at my dog, I got a tractor painted any color you want..." it sure was nice to stumble across this honest gem yesterday.
When you hear a song and your head tilts way to the side like your dog looks at ya...and your listing to something for the first time...you are BLOWN away by where it came from, where irs been, and who still cares to practice the art of it. Real Country Music.
Big City Rocks heard this on the real country station today , and had to say wow, a country song that's new! want to hear more check out the Handsome family
Damn straight! Not all, but so many posers & average Joe's with their ridiculous bro-country...If it didn't all sound the same & keep artists like Ray Scott, Will Hoge, Jason Isbell, Brandy Clark off the radio I could tolerate but I'm sick of it!! It's the same regurgitated sh*t over & over & I'm fed up! Check out Travis Meadows - anything by him, but What We Ain't Got (Jake Owen cut) & Riser are my favs. HIS VERSIONS. A real singer-songwriter. How Dierks can go from RISER to what is it...Somewhere On Beach ?? is mind-blowing. Lost on me. Travis Meadows & Steve Moakler wrote RISER. It took 5 people to write that Beach thing Dierks has out now. Pitiful.
Ray is REAL country folks!! We all need to get this GREAT music back on the radio..let's do this!!! Post vids of Ray's on FACEBOOK,TWITTER, send emails to your friends, call radio stations....
I never get tired of listening to this song, reminds me of the good times adrinking n sometimes hurting but I had some great friends thru the years too, love this song alot Ray.Thanks for it,its a top number 1 hit for months if I had the vote on it.
I have listening to Ray Scott 4 years now you tell me how he's not one of the greatest country music starts now I guess because he writes his own songs he don't sing about jacked-up pickup trucks or drink and corn from a mason jar he sings from the heart honestly this guy should be in the top three people and country music right now put him up there with Jamey Johnson Eric Church and maybe Justin Moore
This song for sure caught my attention. I'm a "prime country" fan. When I first heard this song, I honestly thought it was a "oldie" that i somehow never heard. This song just has a classic sound to it. Very much reminds me of something Keith Whitley would sing. Very impressed. Last song I heard like this was when Mark Chestnutt covered Keith Whitley's "She Never Got Me Over You". Great song. Love the sound of steel guitar in country..... something you don't hear that much anymore.
Indeed. Awesome. (Surprise, surprise....not). Please people, stop name-checking the "pop country"-ness of certain other artists and just focus on how thankful we should be for the sheer goodness of this one and of this song. While the other stuff may be true it is beside the point.
Im glad some ones singing real country.....when #possum sang who's gonna fill their shoes,...i think people like this guy is who he meant, not georgia Florida line or taylor swift,,,.great song and awesome country music #rayscott
Man I hope this song gains traction. Such a great song all around. Country radio needs real voices back, it's nothin but feminine sounding dudes except Brantley Gilbert who sounds like he chain smoked 10 packs a day between his last two albums.
i was moving when I first heard this song. everything came to a halt. I don't know RAY SCOTT but its nice to hear a song that sounds like it came from our classics! keep it up! Love it!
Excellent job on the song and music video, Ray Scott! The raw emotion and lyrical content are pure gold here! It's nice to see you making music videos for your songs again, too!
What a GREAT video and, song! I can't tell you how much I love your voice, the emotion you put into everything you sing and all the awesome songs you write - you got it all, Ray. I have all your CDs - please, please keep it up - there's a whole lot of us out there been waitin' a long time for someone to bring the REAL stuff back! My daughter and I are HUGE fans of yours! This is a #1 for sure if "country" radio will play it ........
