Yes, the Holy Eucharist. Even if a person pays attention to the words of the priest at a modern mass, they would know enough to recognize this as the Eucharistic prayer.
See comments on how youth doesn't like this, well I'm 16 I find this pleasing and gets my soul closer to GOD. And when I go to Mass its more powerful. Praise the LORD, Jesus Christ.
Priests should start chanting the Ordinary Form Mass more often, especially on more solemn occasions. The same people who object would be triggered to find that the trend among younger people is moving back towards more traditional practices. I'm an 18 year old Catholic convert, I have always received Holy Communion kneeling and on the tongue, and I attend Mass in the Extraordinary Form by default. There's something very rich and fulfilling in all the traditional expressions of our Liturgy; the Latin, the chants, ad orientem, etc. I'd say the average age at the EF Mass is around 30ish; the priest even comments how nice it is to see so many young people at Mass! One who does not appreciate the Beauty and Mystery of our traditional liturgical heritage, simply does not understand what the Mass is or the organic development of the Liturgy.
"One who does not appreciate the Beauty and Mystery of our traditional liturgical heritage, simply does not understand what the Mass is or the organic development of the Liturgy". That is an arrogant assumption. You don't know what is in their heads, you assume. The Tridentine liturgy-the Mass of my childhood- had too many problems to address in a post and Low Mass was often neither beautiful nor full of mystery. It was often a rushed, rote affair said in badly pronounced Latin by distracted priest and heard by an even more distracted congregation few of whom followed in their Missals. The Novus Ordo has all sorts of problems of its own but to try to characterize the TLM as it was practiced as some kind of ideal to which to return-particularly Low Mass- is a distortion of what actually happened.
Ever since my parish priest did mass this way, i looked at mass way differently and i PREFER it this way. Fact, my parish priest presided mass for a youth congress of over 400+ youth and all of them were awe struck. So don't judge youth. This generation is growing to love tradition.
+Annie Au Excuse me, but how exactly is Eucharistic Prayer II "tradition"? It was written in a Roman restaurant at 3 am... Goto the traditional Latin mass which uses the Roman Canon if you want tradition dear.
I've been to Traditional Latin Mass. I like the extraordinary form and ordinary form But for the ordinary form, this is pretty spot on to "tradition". My point of that comment was saying that youth won't find this "boring" and to not point out that the generation i come from will fall out of faith if a priest chanted instead of just simply read it out.
Infact its ok for people in the city who have a Western background but its will be alien for people of other cultures. Especially for a Hindu convert from a village it would be very difficult .Anyway this is only the Latin rite in the Catholic Church. There are others. May the music we use help us to glorify and worship God most high.
@henry01090905 That depends on how many youth attend mass in the Western countries....And you don't need to just blast music but good music and help brign the presence of God down ..... Mostly the mass is become a ritual...
@jedi1991 You are saying that.. what music do you play... if its music at all... just saw your video.. You have to help people to pray not take them away from it. As it is in the West there are hardly any people going to church unlike here in India.Do you know the music in heaven. It's not classical or jazz or pop but people worship there.H ave you thought of other cultures?.. Thank God we in India in the Catholic church don't stick to one style of music.
First of all, there is no Mass on Good Friday (Hence, no Eucharistic Prayer). Also, news flash. The younger crowd prefers tradition (I also being one of them).
The most beautiful prayer sung by a beautiful voice. Thanks be to God
The most beautiful song ever written in the world In any language for ever but most powerful in original Latin .
It's the Holy Eucharist. It's supposed to be slow and contemplative, sweet and pleasing. Gooey? No way! This is wonderful.

I think some times Education is to blame but this is a Lot like the Anglican Service.
Dude young Catholics love this stuff. More tradition = better, and chant is very traditional.
I'm 19 and I don't like this in Mass. I don't think chanting the Canon is a part of our Roman tradition. And this is not even the Canon, but EPII.
Absolutely
Phenomenal!!
maybe 8 years ago. TLM nowdays is all young people so i reckon this is their favorite part of NO. I know it's mine
Chant elevates the words from speech to song and from commonplace to rare as the merchants pearl
I always tear up when this sung in church. Very beautiful & Very powerful especially when sung like this❤ god bless

In the Extraordinary Form, though, they don't use any other Eucharistic Prayer than Eucharistic Prayer I (The Roman Canon).

Thank you for this! Sending to my priest for my funeral mass.🙏
Beautiful, I heard a priest chant it a few years ago, it brought a whole new meaning, and reinforced this special moment
at my wedding mass our priest chanted most prayers and was beautiful
Really pleasent and prayerful. The prayers sung this way penetrate to the soul and connect us with God the almighty.
I pray that more priest chant the preface especially the doxology prayer.
Thank you so much for this, have been forever searching for it. God Bless

Annie Au The "ordinary form" is hardly even catholic. It's the reason for the loss of faith, that's why the latin mass needs fully restored.
Annie Au this is the new translation of the mass
Very beautiful.
In Poland all Holy Mass is singing
I'll ask my friend about that.
Magnificent
Very nice and lovely
AMEN 🙏 🙇♀️
👏 sanctus
Anyone who says that this sounds goey, does not understand the Mass in its entirety.
👍👍👍
@polemeros I agree with the slow, but this is essentially the same setting we use now.
the priests in my parish only say this
This is much preferable to the Notre Dame song version

It will be difficult for youth to apprectiate this kind of music... sounds like a Good Friday service
The youth are the ones who love this, and all true beauty in the liturgy.
~A youth
Only if they were born in the 60s or 70s, yes, those kids hate this...
Most people I know who are liturgy geeks are in their 20 or early 30s. Don’t be offended if someone call you Susan in these replies lol

Yet the youth are being more drawn to the Latin Mass
Too slow, sweet and gooey.
