Vikings was amazing till Ragnar was there, After that it was pretty shitty and I couldn't even complete season 5. Last Kingdom on the hand got better with each and ever episode. Season 3 and 4 of Last Kingdom are honestly the best of period fantasy I've seen since GOT. George RR Martin himself promoted Last Kingdom as the next big thing. The left over source material for upcoming seasons is even better, so Last Kingdom is far better right now than Vikings ever was (in my opinion). Granted Vikings season 2-4 was bonkers, no doubt. But in the end Destiny is All!

The last kingdom is based on the book series by Bernard Cornwell called " The Saxon Series". If any of u is a reader, I recommend u read the books first.. the book series is 13 books long, at the time of me writing this comment. the show is made till book 8. every season has story combined from 2 consecutive books ( for eg. season one is book 1to2).

The direction of Last Kingdom is very tasteful and you can notice that the director and his crew spent a lot of time framing their shots and scouting for beautiful locations. Whereas during some episodes in Vikings especially in Kattegat, you feel like it has a very sitcom feel where the homes they live in feel too familiar like the coffee shop in friends. Watch Last Kingdom for immersive experience and Vikings for action and characterisations. If you liked Spartacus tv series then you will like the action and war sequences in Vikings more but if you want to watch a series where you want to immerse yourself then last kingdom is the option.
