I have to say, Sophie’s videos have such a perfect balance of showing her speaking and then showing and referencing the designs she is referring to and as always, her videos are like a meditation. Some designers just flash a picture of the designs they’re talking about and you barely get to absorb it. These videos are just a masterclass in how to show and teach about design. Feel so blessed to have discovered them.

That’s so lovely to hear and how I envisage I am talking to my audience / a friend. I do a bit of planning but I don’t rehearse what I say as it feels like I’m sitting down for a chat and just want to talk about what comes to mind. The organic shapes furniture has been around for a while, in eclectic interiors (especially French chic), but they are making a sweeping statement this year. I am all here for it. I saw a stunning mixed media brass table by Pierre Bonnefille at Collect 23, which had you signature style all over it.
I love the way you used marble as shelves. I have seen it used as skirting board and even door frame and to clad arches (zoning a large space).
I love that complex flooring are making a huge come back, it is a true sign of opulence.

I'm so glad that grey is out. I just painted all my walls accessible beige by Sherwin-Williams 7036. This one is light and airy if you don't want to go dark. Because beige is the new color for 2023. Love it!

I really like your design style and the way you present things. In this video you talked about cushions of varying sizes. Could you do an episode on how to do this trend of cushions in different sizes for a sectional? I don't know how to apply it on sectionals. I find them more tricky.

Such a helpful, interesting video. Thank you, Sophie. I’m sorry to hear of the sad loss of Fenella, she was far too young. Her work is lovely. I’m currently experimenting with textured art and I’m making a picture with gyproc joint compound and wanted to somehow incorporate the shape of the River Thames at the Isle of Dogs (where I was born) and Lo and behold Fenella’s pebble art that you showed with the shape of the Thames is exactly what I was imagining!

I love it- part of the beauty of real silk on the walls but it is definitely something you have to make clients aware of. As some might not like it.
I've long noticed this with *grasscloth type wallpaper* too. It's what put me 'off' of that style years ago.
But! On the other hand, I believe this is one of those situations where *'realistic expectations'* comes into play. If we know what a certain product will look like when installed, then we can embrace its imperfections or eccentricities, rather than curling our lip and feeling dissatisfied.
As per usual, an excellent video with top-notch content! Not sure I'm ready for organic shapes, though! I'm terrible when it comes to clean lines! P.S. did your video guy speed up this video?! It felt a little hurried and you talked quite quickly - not your usual calming style. I could be wrong!

Thank you for this video, it was very timely! I so love your videos, you’re always calm and clear in your explanations. We’re renovating a 1970s architectural bungalow (this is a thing apparently!) and will be starting on our master bedroom later this year. I’m not into the 70s at all and I love a more elegant rustic but still sexy feel. The Limewash paint in a taupe and Versailles pattern floor mixed with bronze and black accents might be the way forward without killing the bungalow vibe altogether.
PS would love a video of the photo-only project 😍
Yours sounds like an interesting and challenging project.
I can see your hesitation about the 70s design aesthetic, since it's quite popular to dislike---hehe. But if you really dig into researching the 'length and breadth' of what made up 70s design, you might find a few 'sub-trends' or specific aspects of that era that you can get excited about.
Your ideas about colour and textures sound like a good jumping off point---like taking a slice of 70s colour and design, and refreshing it to make it look relevant now.

As I renovate my new townhome in Charleston, South Carolina, I have one quick question. My new living space is open concept with hardwood floors throughout. I will designate a "living space" and "dining space" with furniture configuration. I want to incorporate rugs in both spaces. Regarding Air. Maybe a weird idea, but in a modern setting reset ceiling lighting tracks are common place. Is it not possible to hide ventilation-access panels? Especially when the tracks are black.

I predict those organic form of furniture will be out dated with in 5 years or even less. This is a fad and when everybody has it, it gets outdated quickly. Loved everything else.
Oh please let round dining tables come back,..when I wanted one for my small dining room with a large curved bay window ..I was laughed out of every shop….like clothing we want want works ..not what shops dictate is fashion.
