On New Year's Eve 2012 Joyce DiDonato became the first singer to take the title role in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda at New York's Metropolitan Opera. With her at its heart, the production became, in the words of Opera magazine, "a high point of the season and of the company's performance history of bel canto operas".

How does this opera not exist in a digital version?!!!! How utterly silly that you cannot buy it online or stream it. Who the hell has DVD- players now adays? And why can you not get it in audio form?! Such a shame!!!!
A mezzo WHO has already made her mark in opera history!
Interessante
Too much of tremolo and overacting for my taste, and the version is incomplete. The piece of Preghiera present here can be done by most decently trained sopranos. The tremendously difficult second part actually showing if one can sing Preghiera at all is omitted. So one can't really judge this performance.
I am not up for hysterics on stage, so let's agree to disagree. Regarding 'perfect singing' - well... Have a read what exactly makes Preghiera 'the soprano exam' before writing comments ;)
+Straniero Ru Exaltation = good singing. Oh wait...
don't dismiss her hard work... it's a shame for the arts to have someone commenting like this
