    Shawls can be such beautiful works of art. I live in a cold climate and I love large wooly shawls ...they are fabulous for layering. And, I am in awe of lace shawls-so intricate, and the people that make them are so talented. Perhaps a bit under appreciated in this episode.

    Another great episode. I think the sign of a really talented designer is making stunning objects by utilizing small details or relatively "simple" techniques. Melanie proves the theory!

    The whole episode was throughly delightful! I can’t say how much I enjoyed it. The interview was great and I loved the darling shepherd! I want to listen to that again. I loved the wool slip. My goodness!
    I remember the color typing years back, and I knew immediately that I was a “winter”. While I like some muddy colors I learned they are not the best look for me. Interesting isn’t it? I wear cool colors and that really works for me. Thanks for that lesson.
    Loved it all.😁h(

    Fantastic, fabulous, amazing interview!! I love her shawls and this was just wonderful. I really appreciated her tip about knitting and blocking a mini-shawl to test the yarn. I also liked her emphasis on the quality of the edge.

    I've recently begun weaving my own ends in the same way Melanie showed -- it's really brilliant, isn't it? I would like to note that when you weave back toward the beginning, make sure to tunnel the needle through the strand you are weaving in. This totally locks that sucker forever. It's amazing!

    Hello beloved Fruity Knitting :)
    I loved this episode and it's got to be a favourite thus far in your podcast evolution.
    Your husband cares a lot for you to dedicate both time and work in this merry, universal craft. ♡ The love you both share is evident and I enjoyed giggling along in the informative colour-pairing session. It is especially pertinent, in times where it's all too easy to consume more than we need. Clever choices make a wardrobe last.
    Also, footage is excellent and Melanie Berg is a dream from whom to garner insight. Her shawl designs are fabulous, and it's lovely you've had such a beautiful time together.
    Herein, I send only love, blessings and happy thoughts. Have a splendid holiday with your daughter, sweetheart.💙🌍🦋🤗💕🐕🐇 Xxx

    Oh my gosh, I could always write loads about my love of your shows, but I’ll stick with 2 focuses this time. 1 - Andrew, you put a visual in our minds of you dressed in Andrea’s clothes! Thanks for that laugh! 🤣 2 - Andrea, I agree with you 100% about how wearing a shawl hides the beauty of the work, all scrunched up, so I don’t knit them either, however I have thought about hanging them from the ceiling as “works-of-art sails!” 😃 Enjoy your time with your lovely daughter!

      @michellerudy504 5 років тому

      I, too, have “green” skin-just ask my husband (lol). The color analyst agreed, so I got a second opinion as the first was free. Pale olive was the conclusion. Definitely not neutral. I find that most warm colors work well. Although, certain shades of green, mint for example are pretty awful.

    Hello from the Colorado mountains. :) Loved this episode! Also, I wanted to mention a fun fact. Andrew joked in this episode or last episode about Andrea showing him how to knit with one needle. There is a technique of single needle knitting called nailbinding. It's an ancient fiber art craft used by the Vikings. Andrea, maybe once you finish your crocheted afghan you can try nailbinding and teach Andrew.

    • @FruityKnitting

    This episode has really been fun. Most of my comments today are for Andrew although I loved both of your guests as well. What a gem with that quiet love of your middle age curvaceousness. My husband has said the same to me over the years. I love your scientifically precise floppy test for drape..so easy to check. And the colour segment, I'm still laughing at Andrew's comment that "yes, I'm far more attractive in my clothes than yours". I love history and what Suzy does but would not want to live that way even as a job! . Thank you Melanie for your beautiful designs and wonderful common sense comments about social media. Great job Andrea and Andrew. Enjoy your vacation. HUgs

    Most of your advice Andrea is excellent but having done colours and wardrobe all of my life there are Gray's that have got green bases to them and they're more of an olive green base and if you put that kind of Gray next to Andrew you would see that he would just he would look like he's sick you might even look sick in it because it's a funny grey and not everybody can wear it but it is there so I would caution people on Gray, there are indeed Fifty Shades of Grey, there's also a red tone that everybody can wear, But not yellow there is just some yellows and some people skin tones they'll just never match up the there's just never going to be a yellow that works for them. And I would suggest most women who dye their hair cover their hair if they're going to do this no matter how much they claim that it's exactly the same as their hair hair colour it seldom is simply because of washing and Sun bleaching and living in an environment that changes things just wrap a white towel around your hair or and ivory towel whatever you got around your hair and keep that off your face. final note a real dead giveaway is around the nose and the upper lip anytime I put colours that don't work with me on I turn a funny puce colour there maybe that's not the right tone there there's just a green shows up around my nose as it travels down to my upper lip in that area it just becomes completely shadowed and sick looking. But everything else was tracking correctly with what you said.

    Wow Andrea when you put the pink with blue undertones your eyes got puffy bags under them. Sorry not meant to be a mean comment just meant that I really saw what you said about the wrong color making you look tired. Great interviews I want to make all the shawls. Have a great vacation!🌅
