It's amazing that you teach while holding a baby. I'm watching this to get more ideas and techniques in teaching phonic.I'm also teaching small kids so this video is really worth watching. Thanks for sharing.
I'm not a teacher by Profession. It's a long story why I went to this field. You have been one of my inspirations to heal in this field. Now, When I look at you I feel my success. Thank you, Nancy
Studying for my TESOL test. Dunno how much itll help me on that but let me tell you watching you has taught me more about how to teach ELL students than my courses did. Broke my heart when I realized that not all 10 videos were up yet, keep them coming! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing! I have a 9 months baby and I always feel that I'm not working or studying enough because I need to take care of him all the time, you Just gave me the hope that I can be successful in my career as a teacher and as a mother! Your Baby is the cuttest!!
Hi Maam. I am an English teacher of ESL students, too. I don't usually comment on youtube videos but I can't let this pass. You are sooooo amazing. I am also a mom and I can relate to how you teach with a baby😁😅😍🥰. Thank you for sharing your teaching strategies. I just came across your video in the suggested videos below. You are such an inspiration to me.❤🙏God bless.
Hey, I just subscribed. I am an ESL teacher from Montreal, Quebec. I compose kids’ songs for my early grades, and have activity sheets to accompany them. I find that they’re a bit more modern and fun than the usual grade 1-2 stuff. The kids really like them, you should check them out when you have the time.
OMG - you are totally a MASTER! Teaching phonics in one hand and holding a baby in the other seamlessly! Thanks for all your tips and tricks! I've also started watching some of your workout videos! #lifegoals YOU ROCK!
I had to watch this video 2xs I was just so in love with your baby I heard nothing you said the first time. Thanks for a great series of videos and sharing your precious baby.
Thank you for these resources! And thank you for the 'hello likkle babyyy' that came out of my phonics hole when meeting your babe, no matter how indirect the phonics used in the sentence! I've just started an TEFL course and your joy and comprehensive lessons are PRICELESS! You're lovely and we love you xxxxx
The phonics may be a good idea for teaching words like "leg", "ant", etc. But what if you want to teach them "ball"? The A in "ball" is not like the A in "ant", so the student might get confused. Do you have any suggestions for that?
I bet Jack is running all over the place now. I really enjoyed your video and I want to thank you for this lesson. I am new at VIP Kids and I thought the synthetics video the company provided wasn’t informative enough. I think this was very informative and I look forward to putting this into practice. Thanks for the video.
although this video is over 2 years old now, Phonics is i believe still the best practice to teach your child to read, even now in 2021, as so many kids have been off school during the covid outbreak.
Hi Nancy! I just wanted to say thank you for your helpful videos! I'm a new teacher and I enjoy your tips. I was excited to find out from one video you live in Layton (I think)! I'm in Kaysville. It's so nice that VIPKID has a great community of helpful teachers. Thanks again!
I love your videos. I watched quite a few. Just a hint, and I don't mean to be rude. R never says er unless it is with er, ir, or ur. R says the sound you hear at the beginning of run and red. You don't say er-run, nor er-red. Our school district provided extensive training and this was one of the big corrections people had to make.
There are several components to how to read easily . A plan I found which successfully combines these is the Pronto learner compendium (google it if you're interested) definately the most useful remedy that I've heard of. Check out the incredible info .
Hi Nancy, thanks a lot for your videos, I'm sure they will be really helpful when I start teaching my first students))) look forward to watching the video #6 from your ESL Teaching Strategies series!))) mmmmwua
Phonics alphabet sounds @2:12. Explanation of why learning sounds without the/a/ sound attached @3:20 this will lead to the correct pronunciation for English
For order of teaching letters I don't go in order, but you can if you want. I teach M, P, A, and then can introduce blending such as M-A-P , P-A-M and then keep introducing letters, but they don't go in order. I would recommend getting a reading curriculum so that you don't have to do all of the work and teaching. Not enough time in the day!
Learn and explore with Hina Imran , Video clip! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Millawdon Future Ticket Trick (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for teaching children to read without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my close friend Aubrey at very last got astronomical success with it.
Nancy, you do a great job! Before I do my mock class I want to use the technology to practice all the functions. When do/where do I practice with the slides and technology?
Once you schedule your mock class you will have access to a practice room to practice everything!!! Shoot me an email if you need any help with the application process! I have a lot of resources, and I'd love to be your go to! nancytaylor6262@gmail.com
They are in a routine of sleeping until 7 am and if they wake before, and they can't get themselves back to sleep I can pop in inbetween classes. For any emergency I would go straight to them and put that time at the end of class, but this hasn't happened often. Shoot me an email if you need help with this! nancytaylor6262@gmail.com
Thanks so much, I actually found your other video on having your husband home to get them. I have a 20-month old that co-sleeps and wakes if I leave the bed. We are working on getting him to sleep in his toddler bed.
There are a few suggestions for how to learn to read Decide precisely why you wish to learn Find what method works for you the best. (I discovered about these and more from Pronto learner compendium website )
Do you teach the sounds along with the letter motions? Moving your thumb and pointer finger together for "c" and "k" (like crunching something), beating your chest (like a heart beat) for "b", etc.? Do you think doing that helps? Thanks!
Amy Sunderland I have the flash cards that teach the motions with the sounds, but I don’t always do them. I usually do the sign language. Vipkid use to have the signs in the curriculum so it just stuck with me!
Nancy hi!!! I have a problem, maybe you can help me with it. When I show something to my students, something written, it is being shown mirrored. It can only be ok if I write it mirrored, so the students can see it correctly. What can I do? Please help
It should be flipped in the classroom. The only thing that is backwards are your directions and if you write letters in the air. Shoot me an email if you need any help! nancytaylor6262@gmail.com
Oh, dear! You are a super hero! Making videos with a little baby in your hands! You are so enthusiastic!

The phonics may be a good idea for teaching words like "leg", "ant", etc. But what if you want to teach them "ball"? The A in "ball" is not like the A in "ant", so the student might get confused. Do you have any suggestions for that?
You can teach ball by b+ all = ball
You're so goofy. I love it. Thank you, again! So helpful.
