For British guys - the closest dairy product to kajmak is Cornish or Devonshire clotted cream. The process of making is identical - scooping the clot that is formed on the top by slowly heating the milk in wide vessel. The clot is composed of high percentage of butterfat(cream), lactoalbumin particles (protein), casein( whey/ cheese protein) and moisture. The difference is that Serbian kajmak is savory, preserved by salting and slightly fermented comparing to clotted cream that is more sweet/neutral. Regards from a Food Scientist living in Chicago.
You guys are always welcome in Serbia much love from a Serb in Canada!
Thank you so much ❤️
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
@Remy Jaxx instablaster :)
@Canaan Jeffrey I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Canaan Jeffrey It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
Molly is so cute. Her excitement with the food is contagious. Always smiling and cracking up.
Thank you!
Eating burek without yoghurt is considered blasphemy in Serbia.
You guys are really getting the best out of your stay in Serbia.
Enjoy....
Thank you!
What a good idea for a video😁 I didn’t know about that Toaster place in Novi Sad😁 the distillery as well, even though I’m from Serbia I’m finding out new things from you guys! Love your vids
When you eat burek you have to drink yogurt with it. Thats a must!
Ahahah!
Thanks for this wonderful video.
D traditional Serbian take away food looked so good n delicious.
I was born in Sombor and ❤️Serbia 🙋♀️from Skopje North Macedonia Love your channel👍🏻
Thanks so much for watching 😃
Hey Molly and Matt.Novi Sad looks very beautiful. I enjoyed watching this video.Love the pies Burek for breakfast, Pljeskavica looked so yummilicious and the beans kajmak and bread too looked delicious. Have a wonderful trip to Subotica.Stay safe n have fun.Looking forward to the video from Subotica.😍😘❤
Great video, how do you look so fit yet eat so much food hahahaha, all incredible, once again Matt you made me laugh and Molly with the head sized burger lol.....you deserve your own travel programme on Tv you are that good x x
There is young Kajmak (or Fresh kajmak) and Aged Kajmak. The aged one has a different taste.
Yeah the aged one is much sourer!! Thanks so much!
@@dabbleandtravel And there is also miler. Kajmak is scooped milk fat from boiled milk, miler is scooped milk fat from fresh raw milk. Kajmak is more popular in south Serbia, miler is more popular in Vojvodina. Kisela pavlaka is souer cream, and kiselo mleko is sour milk.
@@pedja12345 kiselo mleko is yogurt, our yogurt is kifer in english.
@@kurama567 No, not in Serbia. In Serbia there is jogurt/yogurt and kiselo mleko/sour milk. It's not the same taste.
@@pedja12345 dude I know what you trying to say but in English sour milk means spoil milk that drinkable jogurt is known as kifer, while yogurt is solid here in the states.
Kajmak is dificult to explane but its not cheese because its made in completely different way and its not going over the proces of filtration like cheese. Kajmak is the Best thingy from milky 😊😊😊 enjoy when you come next time and visit some swiming centers in city cause every city have it ( lake or river ) you will be delighted.
“We need breakfast, what are we thinking”. We know what you’re thinking. Burek!
You knew it 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's a pity that you missed seeing the great nightlife in Novi Sad because of the corona, we are probably in the top 10 cities of nightlife in all Europe. There is also a large selection of clubs, discos, cafes, pub, and KAFANA 😊. From new commercial, electronic, music 70s and 80s, of course 90s. To Serbian traditional, to enjoy while the tamburica plays right next to your ear. 💃 To enjoy in the view of beautiful girls and handsome guys 😁 But is good sometimes leave something for the next time, to have a reason to come back. 😉
This Is the Land of good food. Serbia produces a lot of food. This Is One of the reasons we survived so many crises and sarà in the past.😁
So amazing
In Serbia, this kind of beans dish is usually eaten as a side with meats, salads, etc or as a main, without meat, if you are fasting for religious reasons. It is absolutely delicious either way.
Yummy... Great food vlog. Keep up the good work! 👍❤ Cheers and stay safe.
Thanks for watching!
I am so sad because the weather is not so sunny as it normally is at this time of the year. This is very unusual, it is always 10° warmer than now. Kajmak is salted clotted milk.
Mmm Serbian food 🤤🤤
Have a nice meal, you two! 👋
I'm starving now... 🤤😡😄
Cheers! Živeli!
Thanks so much!
In Serbia pljeskavica is traditionally made from pork meat that is why it is not dry due to the fat, but it could be mixed or just beef/lamb. Especially in parts with Muslim population.
It is all opened now. Even Exit festival will take place this year
Озбиљно?
@@ЂорђеСарић-ц8г videcemo valjda. Kakva je prosla godina bila ludost je planirati nedelju dana unapred, ali nadamo se.
@@ЂорђеСарић-ц8г tako su rekli na oficijelnom sajtu Exita
You two are hilarious! By the way kajmak is closer to your clotted cream rather then sour cream. What you call sour cream is kisela pavlaka in serbian.
Looks delicious ! You guys are making me hungry 😂😂😂
It's soooo good! Thanks for watching!
Next time order from Balkan Express or go there if you are still in Novi Sad, its just under the Petrovaradin Fortress, they have best food ( BBQ stuff ).
Another amazing video😍🙏best couple!!
Thank you so much!
I think the food in Serbia looks really good and be nice to have a change of different food than the normal stuff in the United States
The food is so good, that in Novi Sad McDonalds was quite a long time on the verge of bankruptcy, as everyone would choose pljeskavica instead (for almost the same price). They survived with holding kids birthdays, and in summer selling ice cream. But for a city of 350 000 inhabitants there is still only one in town.
Visit the best Zvonko Bogdan winery near Subotica. There is something to see and drink ...
165 likes, 0 dislikes, says it all 🥳🇷🇸♥️
Haha! Thank you ❤️
Guys when you go to Subotica you can also go to Palic lake is very close to Subotica .
Good advice for next time if they missed it. They are releasing this videos with like 30 days delay and as youtube travelers it makes sense. Most people watching this are great but there is always some insane person that could track them.
I would like to think late video release is; simply because editing requires a good block of time, and not some crazy stalking.
@@wakanda6547 I hope so but I have seen some other creators like them saying that they will release video after moving from the place just to stay off the grid so it is not just like it is my invention.
Thanks! Stay tuned for tomorrows video!
Try Pavle Korcagin i Belgrade. They have such a good food
I would recomend you to try stuffed chicken brest or thigh in pig net.
Its chicken meat filled with chease and bacon rolled in pig net.
Punjeni pileci batak or punjena pileca prsa u skrami.
along side Donesi and Wolt you have Glovo as well. :)
The bowl of beans and Kaymak with bread sounds really yummy
Sooo nice 😍😍
'Kaymak' is layered and cured lactoderm; 'lactoderm' being 'milk skin' or a hard layer on top of boiled milk.
Fun fact... Pronunciation of letter 'C' in Serbian is like 'TZ'... So it should be like Subotica.. Subotitza.. like Italian piZZa. Also prebranac.. Prebranatz.
We get there in the end! Thanks for watching!
Molly and matty are a refreshing duo of vlogers! 🥂🌟
Thank you!
We miss you in the Philippines. All your foods were all mouth watering. Enjoy & thanks fr. Manila.
Thanks for watching! We hope to be back soon
By the way, the dishes you have tried so far: kebabs=ćevapi, burek, sarma, kačamak, kajmak, baklava, ... are originally Turkish, moussaka is Greek, goulash is Hungarian. All these dishes were taken over during the centuries of slavery. The original South Slavic dishes are corn / barley porridge, then nettle and cabbage stews,...
Go to Pancevo, at bakery called "Burek Stankoski", that's the best burek in Serbia...
Thanks!
For you always open Serbia 🇷🇸👍
You should have also ordered some salad with prebranac beans. Still, it’s heavy food for dinner. By the way, have you tried moussaka?
Not yet!
Good Vibes. The apartment is lovely. Good to see the takeaways. So informative. Bet Wolt was loving you guys all the deliveries. Lol. Are you back in the UK now. Or still traveling. Have a great week.
Hey Nicky! We’re still in Serbia but moving on to our new country tomorrow! Hope you’re well!
@@dabbleandtravel How exciting. Safe travels :D
Thanks Nicky!
Next time get yogurt with burek please, I almost lost it when I saw you had none. Makes the whole thing 100x better.
For sure!
The breakfast was actually a pie not burek :D I hope you digested all the food on that day! Welcome to the heavy food country :)
God bless you and your family
Thank you!
I would love to try some Serbian vegetarian food, what a place guys shame that you can’t do everything you want due to lockdown but I’m sure you’ll make the most of it. 👏 👍 P.s love the apartment
1:05 Donesi, GLOVO, Wolt, POTRČKO, tvoj potrčko and probably 1000 more companies, local + global.
Glovo, Wolt are international companies, rest are serbian.
Can’t wait for the next adventures guys🥰take care and thanks for reading my comments💕
Thank you 🥰🥰
Matt and molly when are you collaborating with the juicy vlog and making it happen vlog
There will be a lot of fireworks in that room after eating Prebranac .... LOL,,,, one tip .... next time you are eating Burek take a Yogurt with it..... as the Burek is a bit heavy ...... Cheers.....
For some reason we are not that keen on yogurt with burek, we much prefer it on its own! Thanks for watching!
Beans beans the magical fruit the more you eat the more you toot :D
You should have tried a sandwich from "Index Maja", called Index sandwich
The sandwich origins from Novi Sad
You guys are the best!!!!!!!
You’re too kind! Thank you! ❤️
I love eating serbian food
Us too
I have never ever had beans with kaymak, it's so funny to see you guys having it that way. Kaymak is best with cured meat products, or with potatoes, but with heavy dishes like beans - it's a bombshell. :-)
Super ste oboje...
There is at least 10-20 different types of pies in Serbia (unrelated to stuffing), depending of specific part of Serbia. You may call burek a pie but only as a one specific type of a pie. So, it is not burek everything you can buy with cheese, meat, fruit or any other stuffing. There are only two tipes of burek you can buy in Serbia, traditional Serbian burek (flat pastry) or Bosnian burek (spiral pastry). And if you ask me, Bosnian burek is just another type of a pie, and very good one.
@NostaIgia So why would you care? It is always better to be well informed than misinformed. Why should you ask and pay for a burek (for example), and get something else instead and not be aware of it?
Please next time with yogurts!!! That's best combo ever!!
Ahaha! Thanks for watching!
After all these heavy meals, you will need baking soda for digestion
Hello guys have a wonderful day ohh you take care guys be safe down there god well always protect you guys well it’s better stay inside than to go out you can still make a blog okay Molly and Matt always be safe I love you guys 💖💖💖👍👍👍🍀🍀🍀
I hope you eating "Gurmanska Pljeskavica" in Nis ! :) ))
You must drink yoghurt with burek! It is a good combination of flavours
I was plan to watch some movies tonight, but am stuck with ur videos all night 🤣👌
Oooops🤣 thank you!
Those are huge burgers!
Right!
TO get burek just find closest bakery.and always takes yogurt with burek, that is the way u eat burek.....
We call that"pita" , Burek is different, you already tried it, the triangle burek😁
Maybe u guys could visit mine town, Šabac ? Sremska Mitrovica is awesome town too.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Great video
Will you show us McDonalds and KFC Food in a future video too?
Would be very interesting to see what is on offer in Serbia 🇷🇸 and the prices too
There is only one McD in Novi Sad, was long on the verge of shutting down as everyone will choose pljeskavica over any burger sold there. There is no KFC in Novi Sad at all (unless it opened the last 1.5 years).
Well cool brits.
Doing good work tho.
Thanks for the videos, do appreciate it.
Glad you like them!
Kako slatko ruckate🙂
15:55 Important to note: Kajmak is not sour cream
You should go south, not north if you want to eat good serbian barbecue! Go to Niš! In Subotica you should eat gulash or perkelt, some sausauges and smoked meat...
Kajmak not even closer tho sour cream like savoury clotted cream, when you boil milk in wide pot at the top forming like a cream that is kajmak with solt and time.
Kajmak is the fat that you take from a milk
@@dekipet jeste masno ali je najbolje niko nema to ko mi
@@jugoslavnamljidjiu9021 imas u Turskoj Kajmak, i sama rec je Turskog porekla...ali da imamo mnogo dobar kajmak :)
if you looking for sour cream ask for PAVLAKA but genuinely Serbians prefer kajmak
Come to niš brother , the best city in Serbia
Kajmak, ćevapi , pljeskavica, burek, jogurt mmmm
You should visit some of Serbian monasteries, Serbia is not only food. Good luck to You
Stay tuned for future videos!
Nice nice 👍👏👏👌🙏🇷🇸
Then, BEEF GULASH, which is also prepared in Hungary and is the best in Subotica
Thanks for watching!
If you stay little bit more in Serbia you got fat 😂😂😂😂 love your video ❤️❤️❤️🥃🥃🥃
Very true 🤣🤣 thank you!
Sauerkraut PODVARAK is also fantastic, but it is also a heavy food
The best roast is JARETINA ISPOD SAČA (made of goat meat)
Molli, you are so cute. You can be Serbian girl. 🙂
Thank you!
Burek is always eaten with yoghurt
Did you tip the delivery people?
Of course. You can either tip online or by cash :)
@@dabbleandtravel I'm not sure how the online tipping works, I still haven't received any tips online 😁
Depends on the company. But yeah we’re not going to film tipping them :)
@@dabbleandtravel Anyway, I'm loving your videos... It's just a shame that average Serb won't see or experience the tenth of what you have seen while you were here...
Please do reaction on Serbian folk music 🎶
That's a small pljeskavica.
Yes, patty is way better than what you'd get in the typical fast food chains.
There are no herbs, only salt.
Really!! It was massive 🤣🤣
@@dabbleandtravel Yeah... I bet it did! : )
So...
17-18 ounces or 1.10 pounds is the big one. It is refereed to as "Elephant's ear" or "Jumbo". Whatever the local fast food shop names it.
So half a pound is the regular sized patty, paired with either somun or lepinja bread types. Somun's like "pita bread" you had, but sturdier and harder to chew. You had lepinja one in the video I believe, but I'm sorry to say that it looked a bit dry even though it is the softest type. : )
Normally, for condiments you'd want a bit of cabbage, sweet onions (better if it's spring onion), and maybe some paprika. But there is no strict rule.
Next time be sure to check Gurmanska pljeskavica or Punjena pljeskavica. It is all healthy meat, organic, and possibly safest you can find in all of Europe bar maybe Spain.
If you get a chance, check out different types of bacon you can get here in local butcheries that run a family business.
Cheers
You never eat Burek without Yoghurt, never.
👍👏👏
❤️
Love you guys❤️❤️❤️
Please 🥺 don't forget me😭
The best burek in Novi Sad is in Burek +
Great content guys!
Pro tip here, you MUST try the famous ‘Index Sendvić’ before you leave the city.
You’ll know what I’m talking about after trying it ;)
Thank you so much for the recommendation!
Bosna And Hercegovina plis
👍👏🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸💑
Hide that kajmak from Matt 15:57.
Still u are not in Pakistan 🇵🇰.
Please come fast. 💨
Soon!
Prebranac is great with hot sauce.
You must try РАКИЈА (rakia)
Haahahah! We’ve tried many!
@@dabbleandtravel try vinjak (vinyak) it's also famous Serbian drink
U should have measured your weight before coming to serbia. I think you will gain a few pounds xD
