Tom's acting skills come from the time he spent as a professional wrestler. "The System" and "The Machine" are two chapters of a same story being told in two chapters by two characters - one character is the demonic-figure portraying the System bragging to the masses in the Machine about how it uses and abuses them, and the other character is an angelic-figure from within the Machine explaining how the System divides and conquers us. The angelic-nature of the character in "The Machine" is revealed when his hands are folded together in prayer as his face is facing heaven while he sings, "Evil runs the world today like Hell ain't got no vacancy". In professional wrestling there are story-lines for wrestlers that are written by writers. In the jargon that wrestlers use about story-lines, Tom is playing the heel role in "The System" and the baby-face role in "The Machine". "The Machine" was released as part of an album with no music-video having been made for it. After Tom and Nova did the song and music-video for "The System:, Tom re-released "The Machine" as a single with a music-video that he and Nova made for it.
