- We get lots of question about Royal Caribbean Cruise Dining Packages and if they are worth it. We wanted to give it a try and see what it was all about. Royal Caribbean Cruise has a variety of different packages to choose from depending on what you want. In this video we will answer all the questions you have about Royal Caribbean Cruise Dining Packages.
There are so many different Royal Caribbean Cruise food options and the class of ship can affect what options your cruise ship will have. When deciding if one of the Royal Caribbean food packages is worth it you will want to consider how often you like to eat in the main dining room. Some people prefer the smaller quieter venues of a specialty restaurant and would rather pay more for that experience. Whatever your cruise ship dining preference is RCCL has an option for you.
The types of packages that are offered are the unlimited dining package, the 3 night dining packages, chops plus one and the Royal Lunch. Most speciality restaurants cost between $30 to $50 USD per person and the package price ranges from $85 to $190. The prices can vary depending on your sailing and there are often sails on dining packages.

Thank you! I was trying to figure out how the packages work. I think Chops plus one would be the best for me. I like trying all the included options but it’s fun to have a couple extra special nights.
Thank you SO much for this vid!! Exactly what I was looking for! You answered my questions!
We are so glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy travels 🦩
I truly enjoyed this video. I hope that you and your family have an awesome Easter!!!
Thank you very much. Happy Easter to you and your family as well.
We will be trying RCL next year, I appreciate your information! Thank you 😊
That is so exciting. We are glad you liked the video. Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy travels 🦩
Great level of useful detail as usual. The options can be confusing, particularly for the first time passengers, thanks for demystifying
There are a lot of dinning options with Royal. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great tips! Got my Travel Flamingo bottle and it's gorgeous 😍
❤️ thank you
Thanks for the detailed video, as usual. I value the information on the options for specialty dining. The free food alternatives suggest that one doesn't need a specialty option every night
We are glad you liked the video. We like the MDR and other included options that we don’t need to every night but we do have friends that like to. There is something for everyone. Happy travels 🦩
Looooove the French onion soup on RCL. We’re with you, stick to MDR and maybe one or two speciality if you really want to. We actually spent a night with free pizza each eating under the stairs. It was fun and didn’t cost a thing!
Yes!!! Pizza under the stars is an awesome idea 🍕 thanks for watching and commenting. Happy travels 🦩
Pizza under the Stairs sounds not so good.
@@ragoff it’s the Harry Potter experience XD
Thanks for stating that the app will show it charging you but doesn’t if you have the dining package. That would of got me too.
On our last cruise we were given a complimentary specialty dining for 1 restaurant. We chose Chops Grille. We thought the apps, filet mignon and dessert were fantastic, but underwhelmed by the side dishes. Creamed spinach and mac & cheese are steakhouse staples so they should really be good but theses were lacking flavor. The mac & cheese was very reminiscent of Velveeta shells and cheese. But like I mentioned the everything else was fantastic. Loved the red velvet cake for dessert!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Ours was very similar at Chops. Happy travels 🦩
Best side for me at Chops was the sauteed mushrooms. I agree about the two you mentioned.
I just bought the UDP and they only let me reserve a time but not a restaurant for the first night. I think if you buy a dining package, you should have first shot at making the restaurants for all the restaurants you want.
i mean it would be great if they let those with the UDP book in advance my main concern is some of the restaurants being booked up leaving me to feel bad about buying the package this would be my first time buying the package setting sail in January also do they randomly choose a restaurant for the first night it gave me a time slot but not a choice
New to cruising concerned about how to sign up for restaurants we have 3 dining pkg. Is it on the app? or are you better off to go directly to the restaurant. When I register they gave me a 9pm way too late can you adjust? Do I understand you can only sign up for 2 in the beginning? When can you sign up for the the 3rd one? Sorry so many questions ;-} signed confused
Can you book two restaurants for dinner on the same night at different times
So wait I can book on the app and it’s not another charge I really thought I could do it only on board.
Don’t overlook Solarium bistro as an included MDR alternative- buffet with personal service and elegant atmosphere hybrid. I had a horrible MDR experience on Odyssey (service was horrible despite the fact that service was excellent everywhere else on the ship). I think we just had a particularly bad MDR experience but loved the solarium- relaxed yet attentive- perfect. Also did 2 speciality dining experiences that were great.
Very good point!! We found ourselves at the Solarium a lot. Which specialty restaurants did you try?
We were on the Allure last month and booked the 3-nightdining package. We also found it to be confusing. I really enjoyed Chops where I had one of the best rib-eye steaks I've ever had, and the sauteed mushrooms were delicious. I was not very impressed with 150 Park or Giovanni's.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I’m glad it wasn’t just us who found it confusing lol 😆 thanks for watching and commenting. Happy travels 🦩
Thankfully am a guy that can enjoy the same exact dish night after night 😂 MDR it is
We were pretty impressed with the MDR. Aron loved the French onion soup 🥣
We are sailing in July w/Odyssey and got the 3ndp. We are a party of 6 and Wonderland is our no.1. So I just did what U did I booked wonderland separately coz I really want to make sure we get a guaranteed reservations since dining reservations can’t be made until we board. U mentioned I won’t get charge even though it looks like I’ll get charged coz I think I did coz they just charge my credit card. Can all this be resolved once boarded? Can I get more clarification on what u did. Thanks
That is so exciting. When we booked ahead we did pay for it and then booked three more when on the ship. As a group of 6 it can get expensive, maybe ask the dining team when your on board. They will be set up to help with reservations.
Hope that helps. Let me know if there is anything else. Happy travels 🦩
With the 3 night dinner package, can you pick the same restaurant all three times. For example, can I dine at Chops Grille for all three nights?
Yes you can! You can pick whichever restaurants you would like (provided there is availability of course). Hope that helps! Happy Travels 🦩
Do you know for the $20 credit in addition to the unlimited dining package can you use that for Starbucks? Or only the restaurants. Thanks!
only restos. beverage package does not include starbucks either.
I guess I am just a cheap person. I enjoy the experience of a cruise like it used to be and enjoy the MDR and all that is included in a cruise.
Royal Caribbean does have a fantastic main dining room. I wouldn’t see the unlimited dining package.
So if you pay for the dining package, do you still pay for the meal? Or does it cover the cost of every meal at all restaurants.
Good question. You do not have to pay for the meal it is included. Some restaurants have additional items that cost extra but are clearly labelled and drinks are not included. Hope that helps.
So if you bought the udp when u get to the specialty restaurant do you still have to pay for food ?
That’s what I’m wondering lol
@@BMoney77 UDP means your cover charge is paid for at that resto. There are usually upsell items (like a seafood tour, adding lobster tails, etc) but there is plenty of food to choose from and no need to ever add on those items unless you specifically want them.
are sodas included in the dining package?
Unfortunately not, the dining package only covers off the meal specifically. You will still need a drink or beverage package for those to be included. Some of the longer dining packages will include a discount on bottles of wine however. Great question Tsta! Happy Travels 🦩
When you buy the package its all you can eat at the restaurant?
When you make a reservation at a specialty restaurant it usually means only one entree. In our experience the package did not mean unlimited entrees. Hope that helps.
Question:
We're preparing to cruise Rhapsody OTS. We've bought the 3 Night Dining Package.
What additional charges should we expect to pay in the Speciality Restaurants (Chops, Giovanni and Izumi) ?
Generally you won’t have to pay for anything, beyond drinks which are not included. There are occasionally “add-ons” which will cost more like extra lobester, etc… Other than that you should get a great meal at a discounted price. Additionally if you add a tip, you'll have to pay that as well (keep in mind that's a tip on-top of the gratuities already paid for).
Hope that helps Christopher! Happy Travels 🦩
From my experience I didn't feel it was worth it IJS
I’ve been cruising since my 20s and find it sad the cruise companies are constantly up charging the food. I will not pay extra for my meals and actually truly enjoy main dining.
Yah, they really do try to upsell a bunch on nearly ever cruise line. I think the one I hate the most is the upsell after a spa treatment. I mean I just overpaid for a spa treatment (usually) and now you wanna bring stress into this by trying to sell me some body butter? lol. If its good, u don't need to sell me it. :) Happy travels Shay! 🦩
The food at the specialties restos is *substantially* better than the MDR, as is the ambiance. You can enjoy the MDR but it's not sad that they are offering an upscale experience for those that want it.
Are those costs per day or total?
These are total costs :)
Does Chops + 1 include lunch?
Just to clarify you would like to use the +1 for a lunch reservation at a specialty restaurant? If so then yes, however usually lunch times are cheaper so I would probably try to get the most bang for my buck and book a dinner. Hope that helps. Happy travels 🦩
@@TravelingFlamingo so for example on freedom of the sees. Embarkation day Giovanni’s is open for lunch. When you have the unlimited dinning package you can go to Lunch on embarkation day. Basically my question is if I got lunch to Giovanni’s will I only be able to dine at chops for dinner the rest of the trip ? Or do I still have available 2 nights for dinner. Chops + 1 offer all the benefits of unlimited dining package except you’re guaranteed 2 nights of specialty restaurant dinners instead of 3/unlimited.
We are sailing in June, for the first time with Royal Caribbean, and we are also looking at a 3 night dinning package. Is there a way to prevent the issue you ran into, and tie a restaurant to the first reservation? Or do I need to call and book they ahead of time?
That is so exciting!! If I was to book again I would call to be sure I got the restaurant I wanted for the first or second night. I think their website was having issues when we booked and they weren’t able to change the reservation. Which restaurants do you want to try?
We are looking at Chopped and Izumi Hibachi. Not sure on our third just yet.
@@stevensanchez1234 yum!! That is going to be fun and delicious.
Did this work?
I'm planning to book the 3 night package and I only have an option for time for day 1..... I want to pick my own restaurants but there is not an option. Can you go in the app and change the restaurant once on board?
@@pattonpandemonium we were not able to book it before boarding. We also found that the time you pick for your first dinning time (when purchasing the package) didn’t mean anything. We were able to get any opening where we wanted.
Unfortunately there were not many peak time options remaining, and we couldn’t get Izumi. We sailed mid June and had a 12:15 boarding time. I am not sure if Royal wasn’t staffed back up yet or what the issue was.
However we were able to do 150 Central Park twice. If you don’t see a time you want with them go by and ask. They didn’t show a time but they got us in.
