I don't have links to the piston and cam but in the description of the piston and cam swap video I give the manufacture and part number. The carb is a PWK30. ua-cam.com/video/0E0Iya_4HRE/v-deo.html
would you recommend X22R (i would get the new Max) or the KPR/KPM200? i cant decide lol. this is my first bike and i plan to use it on the highway to get to work a few days a week.
I sold the bike a few years ago. I think I had around 3600 miles on it. It was still running solid. The only reason I sold it was because I have a bad wrist and the forward lean put to much pressure on it cause I to hurt.
Hey, I got 1(2021-CXR250R). Vibrates so much that your hands feel like you been using a weed eater. Broke the top motor mounts with vibration . Thin cheap metal. Vibration cracks the fairing which is thin plastic. Fairing screws backout likes its a race. Kinda feels like iam riding a riding lawnmower. But for 2499. and some visits to hardware store you can make something out of it. Its my daily rider for work 25ml. I would stay off the freeway for sure, not enuff power what so ever. Top speeds mentioned are maxing your engine just to keep up with traffic. MJ.
Have replaced the rear sprocket with a 36 tooth? That will make a huge difference as the engine won't be spinning crazy RPM's. My X22R was smooth at high speeds.
Hey Jerry, can you tell me if there’s space to add no cut frame sliders on this bike? My bike is on the way and I’m just trying to buy some stuff for it before it arrives. Since this is my first bike, I’m sure frame sliders and front and rear wheel sliders will be needed to protect from damage.
Hey Mr. Hawk, i've just purchased my Venom. About how long would you recommend driving on the freeway? I don't want to blow anything up or overheating.
I would replace the rear sprocket with a 36 tooth before taking long trips on the freeway to bring the RPM's down..other than that you should have no issues. But break the engine in before making long high speed trips.
Just picked up one myself. I have a few questions. If you don't mind answering them. On mine... it's leaking break fluid. The day I got it, 1/4 full...2 days later...empty...I took it back to the guy who sold it and he claims I didn't tighten it enough. Funny enough the next day after he tightened it ( 5'3 asian all of 140lbs ) nothing against them. But im 5'11 @ 170 ....I think I got it pretty tight. Unsure if it's leaking from the bottom. I've tried to tighten the screw feeding into it from the break line.. But every morning I wake up...with fluid on the fairing like moer is dripping out overnight. And as of today... maybe enough to collect to make a small pool of fluid. But the next questions is... in the gearing. Did you originally have an issue finding N? I made a comment on Mike.Check.Appliances post and he said he got quite a bit of info from you. He mentioned adjusting the clutch line, would you happen to have a video on this on the bike? Cause it seems as if it needs to be rocked to find N in stock form. I asked the guy who sold it to me as well, he claims the bike needs to be in active motion to find it. Does adjusting the gear shift help with that? Or clutch lever? I'm still new to bikes...may sound silly but im asking based upon what I've come across and read.
As far as the brake fluid leak I would check or change the metal gaskets at the reservoir for leaks or possible brake line leak from being smashed. Neutral will be hard to find within the first few hundred miles until the engine is broke in. Clutch lever should be set with minimal play. I have no trouble at all finding neutral.
I have three questions Mr Jerry.... 1. What is the link to the mirrors that you got and where did you get them from? 2. I upgraded the headlights but not to LED and I guess they we're getting too hot so they melted the silver lining on the inside of the headlights. what LEDs did you get and where did you get them from? 3. The lights I have in there right now seem dim even though they're the best that O'Reilly's had, but I do notice that they brighten up as I give it throttle the more throttle the more brighter they go. what is the cause of that?
Links are in the description. The headlight run off the alternator. The idle should be around 1500 to 1600 rpm's to put out the right voltage for the head lights. Standard bulbs take more amps to operate than LED lights so put more load on the alternator. It's normal but less noticeable with LED lights.
I just got one of these bikes. Do you have a part number for the rear 36 tooth sprocket? I don't want to take mine off if I don't have to until I get new one.
No sir, I had it custom made. The company I got it from no longer makes custom sprockets. I'm sure there are other online custom sprocket companies if you Google search.
@@mikebro420 yes. The engine itself is a copy of the Cfr230f. Parts like piston, cylinder and cams are interchangeable. I have the wiseco 11:1 piston and stage 1 Hotcam installed on it. Really wakes it up.
Hey Jerry the speedometer, so mine is 7 to 10 mph off as well depending on how fast I'm going, so I'm supposed to order a speedo healer? and then what do I do after that? where do I hook it up or how does that work?
I installed the SpeedoDRD-U1 from 12oclocklab. Link in description. It comes with good directions and very simple to hook up. Search UA-cam and you will find several videos on how to install and calibrate.
Can you just port match and polish intake, thin head gasket, remove cat, rear sprocket change and 4’ timing key while using stock carb? What jets would you recommend?
I was doing a bit of research and noticed that the stage one is more prone to bottom end like you said... So I got to thinking if the bike and my experience falls flat after 8,500 RPM why not try to increase it so that the bike does get to red line or close to it and increase the pull factor throughout the gears so a stage 2 would do that without harming the stock torque on the bottom end
The stage 1 Hotcam is for mid to upper rpm's and pull hard all the way up to 10,000 rpm's. There is no stage 2 Hotcam for the CRF230F. If fact the Stage 1 cam is for the CRF150F but works well with this engine as a daily driver. I wasn't building it for racing. I wanted to give it a little more power without sacrificing reliability. I could of gone with a different and more aggressive cam but didn't want to push my luck. The 4* timing key was a big boost in power. Probably one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do.
@@JerryHawk250 really there is no stage 2 for the bike I didn't get that far into research because I'm driving right now on i-95 northbound going through Delaware trying to concentrate while doing research at the same time got 5 minutes until delivery sometimes you just can't wait to see what you can find
@@trucker2b Not from HotCams. Other manufactures have a few options. I just went with HotCams because I've used them in the past on other bikes i had. When I turn the choke all the way down the bike starts up but still idles very low but doesn't shut off til I turn the choke back up after 5 or so mins...I just ordered a new CDI box cause I've researched to find that it can be one of the issues I could be having.
@@rickreme9444 The engine should be idling about 1500 RPM's. Have you adjusted the intake and exhaust valves yet? The valves come set tight as in no gap from the factory. @@JerryHawk250 Well no place will touch it so I am mounting it up tomorrow and going to figure just that out. Between the idle and thottle body and torq doing nothing to ease out the idle, and after 150 miles the vibrations coming off it are unreel. To be fair it may be a lose bolt or something I when I first got it had to tighten over 29 bolts and screws. Bike looks good and feels close to a ninja 400 as far as the body goes, and for a 250cc he zooms but not be able to have it serviced is worse than spending two grand more and just getting a ninja 400 if you want a starter sportsbike. Personally I ended up having to get another bike to use as a primary and got a 2024 kawasaki elminator 450 abs se. Once you start looking at prices and what not I would say you really get what you pay for the Elm450 is a amazing motorcycle based off the actual ninja 400 engine so that being said this is a very tested engine and very dependable. And all in all if it's dependable if it feels good and looks good to you just save the little extra you might need and stay away from Chinese bikes for now. The Elm450 is supposed to be Kawasaki's way of busting into the cruiser/sportster series to compete with the likes of Honda and Yamaha for price that is.

Let me ask how much money did you spend in aftermarket upgrades on top of the bike purchase?
Between piston, cam, carb and sprockets I probably spent about $250.
It's normal but less noticeable with LED lights.
by the way... Love the bike 👌
I just got one of these bikes. Do you have a part number for the rear 36 tooth sprocket? I don't want to take mine off if I don't have to until I get new one.
No sir, I had it custom made. The company I got it from no longer makes custom sprockets. I'm sure there are other online custom sprocket companies if you Google search.

dang same problem on my X22 sometimes 12 off even ..
Can you just port match and polish intake, thin head gasket, remove cat, rear sprocket change and 4’ timing key while using stock carb? What jets would you recommend?

can it make it back and forth to the lake...to and fro approximately 25 miles both ways? if so, for how long?
Yes, I've driven the bike over 300 miles at a time.
What's the approximate 0-60 time? What is the stock HP?
I never did see what the 0-60 time was. It does get the pretty quick though. Stock hp is around 15 hp.

I like the idea of a enduro but I need some interstate speed too. I go to work and drive 60 miles round trip do you think this is something I can get from a Chinese bike?

I just got this bike in and am having issues with my local dmv here in Louisiana due to them using a bill of sale from the dealership instead of an invoice. Did you have any problems with this? If so what was the solution?
No problem at all. I went to a notary tag place so they took the time to enter everything. All I needed was the bill of sale and notarized MCO
Where are you located in Louisiana? There is a notary/tag shop here in Schriever. La that i got all three of my china bikes tagged at with no issues. 10-15 minutes at the most. I haven't been to the DMV in over 8 years. Can't stand waiting in line.
I got it registered, but I had to get an invoice made up for it instead of the bill of sale that came with it.
And I’m located just south of Shreveport.
@@LoupGarouProductions Now that's crazy. On all three of my bikes all i needed was the bill of sale, Notarized MCO and the Odometer disclosure statement. Not once did they ask for an invoice. And all in all if it's dependable if it feels good and looks good to you just save the little extra you might need and stay away from Chinese bikes for now.
