Kinda weird how $1200 per rear quarter is too much for you then drop 5k on a pair of seats like wtf bro lol.Should've got the oem panels that actually fit.
Fair point, lots of questionable financial decisions here. The flares are shaped very well, I just fucked up install a bit. First time doing body work but I'm fixing the panel alignment soon. Good eye, most dont notice how off it really is but it bugs me every day lmao. I'll probably install the oem quarters when I paint the car in a couple years
I will be doing all of these things next, just not sure when. I took on a miata project so bmw funds are limited at the moment. Ty for the suggestion, these items will “finish it off” for sure!
I did all the work myself and body filler was the best way to hide the rivets and seams from the rear fender. Everyone's got different opinions on how good "good" is, only a real 1m will have "perfect" flares
@@Chopadontmis I'd love to take it in to a proper body shop but I'd rather spend money on "go fast" parts first. Plus it was fun even if it isnt perfect!
I'm planning on doing this kit as well. How did you get the wheels to fit with the proper width? Are you using spacers, M3 hubs or what? Or just the 1M wheels and it's good?
I'm running 135i hubs with I think a 20mm spacer. I'd recommend 15mm with stock m3/1m wheels for the front. The rear could use a baby spacer but I'm happy with fitment without one. If you run a square setup, you might be able to get good fitment with rear wheels on the front and no spacer, but I have not tested this. GL with the build!
Legit Build and legit vid Graham! I see people giving you shit about the rear fender yea it isn’t perfect but you did it yourself that makes it even better I’m sure you learned a few things that you would do differently. So Kudos to you Bro 🤜🏿🤛🏼! I just recently purchased a 135 and I’m looking to tackle this same conversion. I’ve been searching the old forums and internet for at least a month now how do I get a hold of Jay meadows?

I think you'll need the 1m specific guides but they look pretty similar. Unfortunately I didn't take the time to compare when building so can't say for sure
There's a few places to buy them from, but google recaro pro racer rms. Just a heads up, they are a bit small and rough for long drives. Great track seat though!
Could you clarify what you mean by OEM? Oem to me is original equipment manufacturer, which for body panels is BMW. For mechanical parts, these are other brands like TRW suspension, but for body panels I think genuine BMW is the only OEM option. Does this answer your question?
@@GrahamsGarage they fit like in place of the OEM parts but they all look like 1m parts, however the fenders are flared, but the bumpers are made to fit like OEM sorry i should have clarified. I just figured getting the swap kit that directly fits on would be easier than a full conversion.
@@trash08 Sounds cheaper and easier than what I did, but I’m pretty picky about details and the goal was to be visually indistinguishable from a 1m and mechanically better. I chose to do the wide body first, mechanical bits will be added one by one.
Thank you so much you card looks amazing I’m working on mine too I’m in California as well after I done maybe you can make a video of both do you have Instagram?
You thinking on doing a swap with a 2jz or s65 engine from the m3 into the 135? or just using stock engine? For sure I’ll be tuning in for the 135. Nice video!
Ive thought about the s65 a lot. Its nice because there is the place for a hydraulic power steering pump, but I’d like to put in an s55 since id like the car to be faster than an m4 on track. I figure this is the easiest way to compete. Thanks for the kind words Joseph
@@sheneedsyrruup 2j’s are rare and expensive these days. Assuming a “cheap” 2j for 10k, swap kit for 2k, and at least 2k for solving issues along the way, id say 15k minimum just for parts. Ls swap is better for reliable power, but an s55 starts to look reasonable compared to 2j swap haha
@@GrahamsGarage Yeah i love those f82s, I just like the sound of the blow off of the 2J tbh. Not worth the headache i see , Im a car noob so all this stuff is fascinating to me
I used the stock cluster but it might be plug and play. I know it's not oem but someone makes 1m gauge faces you can install on your cluster for about $100 and no coding required
for the 1m rear bumper did you have to get genuine oem rear bumper to fit the flares and oem bumper cover etc.. I have the 1m style rear bumper on my stockbody 135i.
Yeah, you'll need the oem bumper since the flares make the car pretty wide... Other people have installed a non oem 135i widebody kit in the rear to use a stockbody bumper, just another option.
I used 3m gloss white (2080 film) but it is pretty difficult to work with and expensive. I'd recommend looking into other options since it is not very forgiving. hope this helps!
By the time you add all the work done to it and cost, why not just purchase a real 1M? 🤷🏽♂️ it appears to be a fun project but instead I would’ve invested in the real thing but everyone is different. Congrats looks extremely nice love the 1M series, but for now all I can afford is a 135 😉
A real 1M is like 2-3x the price of a 135i + conversion. And then you'd be scared to drive it, whereas you can drive the hell out of this thing and no worry at all. PLUS you can mod the engine of the 135i and make it faster than a 1M, if you want. This is a way more fun approach. 1M is more like a collector's car now.
Underbadge my friend. Car is now debadged and looks a lot better. I almost regret not buying a 128i because the n52 has top end while the n55 falls off at higher rpm. Not as exciting, more of a “sledgehammer”.
Sorry dude but I was wondering why your rear vendors look like ass. I was interested in seeing an overview of a 1m clone project as the headline would suggest. New headline should be "BMW (half assed) 1M Clone Project Overview (135i Widebody & Interior)" you saved $1000 so you can get people lying to your face telling you that shit looks legit out of pitty. Unless you got a homie that tells you how ass it looks every time you pull up, I might be your only real friend, that sucks. xD
In parts alone, close to $6000 including wrap, excluding wheels. The exhaust conversion adds about $1500. This is just an estimate, but at least 5k for front and rear bumpers, front fenders, side skirts, rear fender conversion, fender liners, front ducts, rear bumper guides, etc. The exhaust conversion includes a new rear crash bar, battery tray, 1m muffler, along with a handful of charcoal canister hoses. If you have any other questions let me know!
Your 1M Clone is very impressive! I’d love to see the build videos of your conversation. Keep up the great work and, don’t be a stranger.
Thank you, hoping to share more stuff soon!
