They way they use the Slipshod sample in this song brings nostalgia so bad. I have loved this band ever since I found them in 2014. Every song feels fresh, different. Enter Shikari operate between the lines of genre and it's so unique. Keep pumping out bangers for as long as you live. And still we will be here, standing like statues.
@@micharogowski5828 for me it sounds like it's repeating words from the chorus through an effect: it hurts _hurts_ every time we fall _fall_ but your worth _worth_
Wouldnt say super underrated as they are respected by many of their peers and newcomers, be it in UK and broader. Overlooked by most is what I think the case is here. Sorry for the "well ackhually" energy but I am allergic to see words like underrated getting thrown around willy nilly. In any case, glad for ya and as someone mentioned, you are in for a treat!
Welcome to the family! Enter Shikari have become one of my top 3 favorite bands because they are so insanely talented. I haven't found a song of theirs that I don't like.
Just wait until you see them live. I saw them in 2012 and 2013 and they had so much energy live! Really put on a fun show and both times I saw them they started with mothership to get everyone hyped
There’s so much symbolism it’s hard to wrap my head around😅 Overthinking, holding oneself back, letting the mind run wild, having ideas, them being just out of reach, and moving on? Again, love this energy, really enjoy your guys music, thank you🕉️
The music video depicts EXACTLY how I feel right now. In couple of years the world has turned upside down (especially for a 30+ y.o guy like me who thought that I'd already understood how the world worked) and you can feel like a hostage or a victim of the circumstances but have to find strength to move forward and to do what you believe in no matter what through pain, anxiety and tears.
Rou did say that this song came to him in a dream, so it is only fitting that the music video feel like a fever dream. With the best will in the world this stuff is Bonkers, Lads. Cannot wait for the 21st of April!!! 🔻
I got to see these guys live in Orlando last week and I gotta say, they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen in my life. They sound the same live as they do in the studio, maybe even better tbh. & They bring so much energy. The way it started had us so pumped. Yours Truly opened and they finished, so we're just kinda hanging around waiting, stage was pitch black and the crowd is waiting, then the light shines on stage, my husband said "thats Rou Reynolds" and Rou just puts his hand up in the air and says "there was a house" and we lost it. Lol. My husband said "omfg!" 😂 It was a fantastic show, and I'm looking forward to the next FL show! I will try to see these guys anytime they come to FL. ❤
Time and time again Shikari proves to me why they're my favorite band hands down. Your music, your lyrics, and you guys yourselves just connect with me on an entirely different level than others!
Now we understand why (pls) set me on fire video ends so abruptly. Is a reinterpretation of the Rou's dream he talked about it, where this song fell in his mind like an angel at 3:00 a.m. The sparky participation here is amazing 📺 Can't wait for this record 🥀🎴🧡
Everything you've put out recently has been great in such a specific way. The balance of melodic Enter Shikari and heavy Enter Shikari is so on point here. This album is going to be an experience.
Every album, the style changes and evolves to something slightly different, but they NAIL IT every single time. The work from album to album is phenomenal and I cannot think of many (if any) bands that have done that with so many albums, never feeling stale or rehashed. I think your talent and hard work is incredible and you deserve all success that has or will come because you’ve given us fans so much.
ill take it that the new album will be like all the other ones before? amazing! easy to listen to from start to finish! awesome lyrics that make me ponder about my life, the world and how i can better both? man guys, please never stop! unless it would make you unhappy of course.
Love this and am loving the failure/attempt message at the end. I work as a mental health professional and I always discuss how a percieved failure can lead someone to feel like theres no chance of getting better (I work a lot in adolescent substance use) but this is spot on. It hurts, but your worth doesn't change at all.
Thank you for still making music after all these years, hearing your music Is a certainty, it makes me feel safe despite uncertainty of the passing of time
enter shikari going from a guilty pleasure band to being a band i shrugged off to being the easiest candidate for AOTY 2023 next to Graphic Nature and Vylet Pony is a wild trajectory for the lads but i dig it!
this is absolutely incredible, I really like the musical refeeereences to classic British bands (The Smiths and Police if I bought it right) really cool song.
Definitely one of my favorite bands. First time I heard them I was getting drunk for the first time listening to Sorry you’re not a winner. They’ve never left my playlist. They’re so goofy and weird and I love it.
The band was named after Shikari, a boat belonging to Reynolds' uncle. In a 2011 interview, Rolfe explained that: "Shikari is a Hindi word for hunter."
chris walking around in that long jacket reminds me of 80s music videos. my minds probs going to rick astley and his big coat. it just suits chris, hella charming.
ever since I found you from take to the skies every album since had is just so relatable to what I am going through at the time it's so soothing and reassuring everytime you guys release a new album and it allways slots so perfectly into my life shikari forever ❤️

This got recommended to me just after watching the new Periphery video that just came out, and I haven't listened to Enter Shikari in years, but what a great song! Directly making my playlist ! :)
LYRICS:

But your worth
It doesn’t change at all

guys I live in a warzone can we like speed up thank you hahaha
Their lyrics def ain't what they used to be. But at least they're not cringe like AFFOC. Shikari has always mostly been about the music anyway
Love it! Is there a meaning behind the clip or just chaos? 😄

Wtf you on about ? How much drugs do you do? Awful vocalist and song writer out in left field, my preciousss
So happy to see Chris getting more vocal parts like the old days, his voice along with Rous is so great
Yes!!!
They need to make a 6 minute song and have all of them singing a verse, Rob needs more vocals, all of his vocals are memorable
TRUE!
100% we also need another thesis from Rory

Exactly how I felt kelp it going Shikari 🙌🙌🙌
The surrealism of this music video is absolutely great. One of my favorites. Can't wait for the album boys, much love ❤️🤍

@jacksonroe6034there's the much more noticeable Void Stares Back sample also
@jacksonroe6034 Comes first right after "It hurts" but before "every time we fall" in the main chorus. Sounds like a Formula 1 car to me.
not quite convinced that's a slipshod sample, altho i do hear the similarity!
For me it sounds like the first synth from the beginning of "Void Stares Back"
@@micharogowski5828 for me it sounds like it's repeating words from the chorus through an effect:

Just got into this band and man I gotta say, they are super under appreciated and there is nothing like them. I am extremely hyped for the album

Knowing Rou said he wrote the chorus of this song after a weird dream makes so much sense as this filmclip is as whacky as one!
the best shikari music video by far - top stuff.
That little undercurrent of a breakdown 🔥

the song is pure Shikari, the video is like New Order. Its epic.
