This episode covers the unusual bits of this project that are essentially there to help with order in the shop. Controlling the chaos basically. First we build a box around the router that will keep it from spreading chips everywhere within a 5 m (15 ft) radius. And to avoid it becoming a subwoofer we line it with noise dampening foam.
In addition to that we create a "roof" under the main work surface that will have the magic ability to fetch small items that get lost in the hole pattern of the workbench.
This is the tenth video in a longer series about making a versatile Workbench/Workstation. This project is especially awesome for small workshops but the general construction methods can be used for any size wood shop!
Here´s a short list of tools that I use or that went into the workbench. These are affiliate links that will lead you straight to the amazon page of the item.

Top notch work. This gave me so many ideas for my bench and separate stand alone router table that I'm building.

Brilliant! I'm hoping to start my own bench by summer and I have a feeling I'll be borrowing quite a few of your ideas. Once again, thanks for sharing.

Good video! Your workbench is becoming complicated. Seeing this workbench makes me want to build a workshop so that I'll need a workbench. Thank you!

Yes! Having a workshop solves all problems that you didn´t have before! :)

@@pilotsworkshop4554 I really love working with wood. I've worked as a cabinet maker, rough-in house construction, finish carpentry, and custom small projects. But, nothing is as exciting as making things to improve your own shop. Looking forward to next shop improvement build. Can I suggest a storage project?

Oh nice! Then you do have quite some experience in the field! I think storage-wise my workshop is filled (at least in my head, still have to build some things...), but of course you can make suggestions :)

Wish I had the space to do a small shop.

Friend, you bench playlist is one (or the) of the best I've seen and I've seen a lot. You're very smart and inteligente. Congrats! One question. How do you decide on the final height of a workbench?

      Hi Joaquim,
thanks so much! Usually I would see other workbenches (like the worksurface of a kitchen) and see if I like that height for working on or if I would like it a bit higher or lower than that (wearing the footwear that I wear in the workshop!). But in this case I knew that I wanted the bench to be the outfeed table of my table saw. So the height was defined by that. However, I did put adjustable feet under everything, so I can still tweak it up and down by a bit.
      Regards,
      Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
Can you link to the foam you used for noise dampening? Great idea. Thanks

Hi, it should be this one, maybe you can find an alternative depending on your country:

Nice job … you could have used clear Perspex for the under bench dust system and then maybe added LED lamps, to up light your bench system ? … just being fancy pants though ;-)
