I have an assignment that has a section dealing with the Gestalt theory, and while I understood the principles by themselves, I was really struggling to explain the theory itself beyond the statement "the whole is greater than its parts." Definitely a useful video :)
The correct term is that the whole is different than the sum of its parts, not greater. Aristotle's phrase (upon which Gestalt Theory was based) was translated wrong and has been used wrong since the theory was established. And saying different as opposed to greater makes a lot more sense when you take the theory's laws into account.
Interferences of two raster systems create a virtual THIRD raster in the perceiver. Therefore the Gestalt is really more than then the sum of it's parts. But in Kitsch it seems that the whole seems to be less than the sum of its parts *LOL*
@@Meme-vj4co Well, interference does not work with all raster systems. Sorry I don't have a video on that. But the effect is also known as Moirée. It was part of my studies in Art School
