    What I love about this series of videos is the fact you don’t need £1000s worth of equipment to get great images. Thanks Nico. Keep up the great content.

      I will def look forward to that one. Your Orion video got me started on my journey as the UK lockdown commenced. Can’t thank you enough for giving me a passion now that I never had and never thought I’d be able to do.

    Can you please do a short walkthrough video on processing milkyway image in SIRIL without using calibration frames. I'd really appreciate it. Thankyou

    Great video, as per usual very insightful.
    Question: how did you get the subframe scale for SubFrameSelector ?

    • @NebulaPhotos
      @NebulaPhotos  3 роки тому

      Many online tools/calculators will tell you your image scale if you plug in your camera and focal length. For example: www.blackwaterskies.co.uk/imaging-toolbox/

    Small tip: you can open files from within the SubFrameSelector results window by interacting with the file names. Thanks for the great videos!

    Happy to hear your thoughts about PixInsight. I started playing with it over the past weeks and I'm finding I like it more and more. I think it will remain my main processing tool. Have yet to try stacking with it but I'm sure it works just as well as DSS.

    Does Deep Sky Stacker do some of this as well?

    • @NebulaPhotos
      @NebulaPhotos  4 роки тому +1

      Yep, roughly the first half of this video can be done in DSS instead. See the other parts in the series to see how it compares.

    I downloaded the dss file and try to work with pixinsight .Follow step by step, everything good until histogram trasformation. Channels are not aligned and look washed .The image looks very bad . Mostly i can see is green but when you arrive at that part of tutorial your image looked so cool and can see all the colors in the sky.I’ve tried to do it again many times but same result . Any guess ?

      Did you do the Dynamic Background Extraction at 19:50? That should have taken care of any color balance issues, but if it didn't, you could try Automatic Background Extraction set to 'Division'. Let me know if you still can't get it to work. I should have saved the stacked PI file, but I forgot.

      @@NebulaPhotos Yes i’ve done it , then boost sat with curves and then stretch and there is where problem starts . When i stretch the mid tones the 3 lines channel look not linear but kind of zig -zag and i can’t see the separation of the three colors like in your image where every color is balanced. I’ll try out tomorrow the automatic extraction and let you know . Or do you think is because my file was from DSS and instead you stacked with PI? By the way thanks for the reply i am sorry to bother but i’ve tried until i got headache hahaha.

      @@MarcelloSpinFishing That's what I'm thinking even though, I'm not sure why that would be, but maybe try with the siril-result.tif instead of the DSS one: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kIMg18NjAlCKtj9-UtOUIkpeoVQDJxyp The siril result should already be color balanced I believe.

    • @MarcelloSpinFishing

      @@NebulaPhotos i have the same kind of thinking because when i process in PS with the dss file ( even i am a beginner ) i had better results . I watched both videos with PS and PI and i see the result with PI is better with less work that why i want to give it a try but i feel that something is off.

    • @MarcelloSpinFishing
      @MarcelloSpinFishing 3 роки тому

      @@NebulaPhotos Definitely there was some problem with the dss file because with the siril file everything was better. I still do not get the result that i wanted and i do not know why . Maybe i am outside of the league but i found my best result with a combination of PS and LR 😂.
