    Its too bad Volvo doesn't make anything like this any more, because it was a really solid vehicle. Nice video!

    Gnarly. I've seen so many videos of these things stuck in mud puddles, it's cool to see one navigate. Very smooth driving. If I had anywhere at all to use one of these I'd have two of them. But the kind of around town driving I do it would be harrowing to say the least. The absolute antithesis of a grocery getter.

    I remember when my dad borrowed one if these from the swedish army.(He has a military friend).It had camouflage. He had it for several weeks and it was so cool when he gave me a ride to school. Everybody was watching when I got out.

    Some great creative cinematography there! (and sound recording) Amazing vehicle too.
    I was horrified by the needless destruction of the trees at 7:00 though.. they could have been someone's furniture in a few years! - instead they're mown down as youngsters by a senseless hooligan in a Volvo!

    This is what happens when good engineers are given few/scant resources to develop a world class 4x4. The c303 and c304 were eseentially built with of parts out of the (then) Volvo parts bin.. One of the best 4x4 ever, should just have had diesels for better torque and economy. The B30 (inline-6) was notorios for overheating.

    Very nice off road adventure! But....nobody has any right knocking down trees!

    • @MrRocque
      @MrRocque 9 років тому +4

      Give your head a shake as you sit at your wooden desk/table (or worse, plastic made from petroleum products) on your computer that's made from VIRGIN materials RAPED from the land so you can watch UA-cam and complain about ppl knocking over trees.
      What? The first vehicle to blaze the trail/roads he's driving on just 'asked' the vegetation to move out of the way and it did? Those tire tracks got there by plants being RUN OVER...deal with it.
      One day, someone will explain to me HOW the HELL humanity thinks its going to survive by 'leaving mother nature alone'....She's HERE for us to use (not to abuse...but to use) and sometimes 'you gotta crack a few eggs to make omelettes', as the saying goes.
      So while you're worried about the trees...next time you're eating your vegen lunch, ask yourself this 'what gives you the right to KILL living plants just so you can sustain your 'save a tree' opinionated life?' And when you fail to come up with a reasonable excuse why its ok for YOU to cause the death of plants (trees are plants remember) but its not ok for others maybe you can become a breatharian and try living off air alone...there's living things in the air...btw.
      I DARE you to go one minute...without causing the death of SOMETHING in the world. Don't kill a microbe, a virus, a bacteria, a micrscopic spore...NOTHING!!!!
      When you can accomplish that...then you can work your way up to 'nobody has any right knocking down trees!'

    • @mortinsonoffice
      @mortinsonoffice 9 років тому +4

      MrRocque That is by far the most illogical argument I have read in ages... It is obvious that downing trees for the exhibitionist pleasure of showing it off is childish, reprobable and stupid. IT IS TOTALLY UNNECESSARY. I have been enyoing serious off-roading for the best part of the last two decades and my opinion in that one should never drive off-limits and tread lightly... Leave the place as you found it. Knocking down trees as shown in the video can only lead to public opinion go against off-roading and lead to a blank prohibition of driving off tarmac roads so that responsible users such as myself will end up paying for the stupid behaviours such as that shown in the video.

    • @MrRocque
      @MrRocque 9 років тому +1

      mortinsonoffice
      I agree with the 'thread lightly' philosophy, but WHO are we to say this was an exhibition for the pleasure of it? Perhaps he was blazing a NEW trail. Fact is, someone had to 'attack' nature to make the trails that were already there before he got there. And if you didn't notice, some of those trees HAD actually grown back in on a trail.
      @ 7:34 he's OBVIOUSLY following a trail that already exists, but the trees have grown back.
      Sadly, regardless whether we treat nature with respect or not....the politicians that determine such things, where we can and can't drive, don't care if we're respectful or not. They care if they get votes. So, much like the firearms debate is led by the ignorant and far removed...so is most everything else. And it won't be how WE treat mother nature that determines IF we can off road, it will be the 'sheeple' gorging themselves on the troughs of 'think what I tell you to think' sheeple who allow crap legislation to be enacted based on the picture some lobbyist paints of off roaders. Truth, reality and facts have nothing to do with it. And when manufacturers are forced to meet ever more difficult effeciency, enviromental emissions and safety standards...WE won't even be able to buy REAL 4x4's from dealers, they simply won't make them anymore cuz THEY can't make money off them. We'll have to build our own, never drive them ON road (eventually they won't meet roll over standards)...its all changing

    awesome video. i liked the little musical quirks of actuating the diff lock and hitting the tree. that is a pretty capable vehicle you have there. you asked where to go next? here is a suggestion-ice drifting. lol see how bad ass it would look drifting on a frozen lake.

    I take it that the other TGB did not have lockers in it? Interesting, I thought that, like unimog, all of the TGB's had lockers front and rear.
    Very nice video, not sure I would want to spend that much time in water, but still, looked fun.
    Cheers

    Häftig video!
    Men i verkligheten är det värre än vad som går att återge på film. Själv har jag en C202 och jag kan ju säga att man saknar diffspärr ibland. Har bara kört 3 gånger själv överhuvudtaget, inget i lumpen. Valde C202 för prislappen och för att den är lite bensinsnålare, passar bättre när den även används som personbil.

    I'm partial to Vanagons and Syncros, but this is a whole other level. You have to give respect where it's due. And this vehicle is impressive. Like I said it's a whole other level, so I'm not disrespecting my VW brothers by saying that. VW Vanagons and Syncros still kick butt too! Were there any parts of the video you edited out, due to ever getting stuck? It looked like it almost got stuck twice in the video.

    @danielkarlssonbbod OM603 engine? Did you have to make any changes to the clutch etc? Why a diesel and not LPi? How much work goes into installing a diesel? I'm doubting wether to buy a C303 or a Pinzgauer, wether or not to slap in a Diesel engine or install LPi for driving in Europe (Diesel/Benzin for africa/out of EU tours).
