Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 тра 2018
- We visit the best Audi mechanic in all of Ontario, Garage Auto Sports and do some much needed maintenance on my 2008 Audi R8. We do an oil change, drive belt change and clean the intake valves of carbon deposits that are infamous for these TFSI audi engines, especially the 4.2 V8.

Who wishes they could grow a beard like that?!
Canadian Rider i can grow already grow a beard like that hahahha nice vid btw you always get that good feeling when your car is serviced the right way with a lot of love and care
Your mom
Ikr im 19 and ive been trying to grow one so bad but it will never been like that woah
Meh, beard doesn’t make you any better looking underneath or make you any more capable of a human. I guess it’s a decent way to sneak your genes in.
Should have done the oil change after the carbon cleaning.
Finding an expert mechanic who really knows what they're doing with exotic are very rare to find
100% agreed. Its extremely rare and very difficult. Not only that they own him to fulling flim what they are doing. The Tech is explains everything he's doing and why. 👍
I ended up taking my Jaguar XF here as opposed to the dealership after recommendation from the Audi/VW fanatic. Bill is an awesome person to chat with, someone who truly loves what he does. Glad to see the shop, wish I could spectate the service process aswell!
Your channel is coming along great bro! Love the r8 such a timeless design. Support from Alberta🙌🏻
Steve we did it!! 10k subs !!! We are getting some momentum now baby!!
Hey man, your UA-cam channel is definitely gonna be big. I love the quality of your vids. Look forward to more content.
I really appreciate that man some people have asked to see some more Vlog style content with the R8 what do you think?
Canadian Rider definitely would watch. Cheers bud.
Glad to see you take pride in maintenance for the R8! And nice job with the paint too👍🏽
Thanks PJ :-) now all that's left is the paint protection film and the ceramic coating
Stoney Creek! My wife spent 27 years around Lake & Highway 8. Just found your channel through some recommended videos. Good stuff. Cheers from Brantford.
Wow I lived right around the area as well thought to see a local subscriber :-)
Dude!! Loving the videos! Congrats on the beauty and the beast literally! I hope to one day have this car. Keep it up man!
Thanks man really appreciate it I'm going to be doing a lot more Vlog Style videos with the R8 as well! 2018 is going to be a good year
Great video....awesome to see you find and utilize a mechanic that will treat your car as if it was brand new from the factory. I think you're smart finding a unique premium mechanic to lovingly service the R8. I feel the same way about my Mercedes. Second best is NOT good enough. (Mike in Ohio)
Thanks man I'm glad you appreciate it like I do :) especially with a car like yours that is a Mercedes it deserves the best
I have been looking some where pure to take my car for about 2-3 years now, thanks for the videos and I would definitely check them. Keep the flag up ;)
York station 🏁
I promise you that you have a GREAT youtube personality; your views, personality, editing style, way you talk, etc. etc. are all very entertaining/nice to watch. I am almost certain that if you produce more content, even in the form of vlogs, your views and subscriber count will sky rocket. Just letting you know in case you were on the fence somewhat to how hard you want to go with this youtube thing. Keep it up!
I really appreciate your optimism on the channel! I work really hard with the little time I have to make these videos for you guys because I love doing it and I love sharing my story with all of you! Things seem to be snowballing a little bit right now so I'm definitely going to keep ensuring the content remain super high quality and hopefully the people will continue to come :)
Great video as always bro! Video and editing skills are phenomenal
Thanks man! Did you end up finding your car? I know you were looking
Found a 2014 R8 V8 with 12k miles on it. But it's way over market price. Waiting on another one or a price reduction. When you bought yours did you wait for 'the perfect one' or just buy the best available?
You know what I was looking for about 4 months and I knew I had a perfect one in mind. Once it showed up I basically insured that I had the ad taken down within 48 hours. You're just going to have to wait for the perfect one I wouldn't jump the gun. You will know when that right girl comes :-)
Thanks buddy, the wait will be worth it! Your beauty is in incredible condition and the paint job looks factory new! Excited for the next video! ✌️
I'm excited for you to find the right one make sure you keep me up-to-date CryptoJack! 👌
Great video to learn!
Thanks for this video. I'm planning on picking up a similar-vintage R8 this summer, so it's good to know what i should do when i get it
What color are you looking to get? Manual transmission or automatic?
Canadian Rider colour doesn't really matter, although Sepang Blue would be a bonus. If i can find an S-tronic in my price range, i'm going for that. But i'll take the manual over an R-tronic
Sepang blue is actually my first option right before black. I told myself I would never buy another black car again but look where I am LOL
Canadian Rider there's a 2010 Sepang blue V10 manual for sale at my local Audi store, but about $30k more than i'll be able to afford. Abd i'm sure it'll be gone by the time i'm ready to buy
Vintage XD
there is an urdu saying (ek mard apni sawari say pahchana jata hai aur aurat apnay ghar say) meaning a man personality can be judged by his ride and women personality can be judged by her home. you sir are absolutely decent man as you love and take good care of your ride....may God bless you many more........
Wow thanks Umer :) you put a big smile on my face for my Saturday morning
10,000th subscriber here. Congrats
What a milestone Austin you are literally going to be celebrated tonight LOL. Thank you so much for subbing and being NUMBER 10,000 OF THIS FAMILY
07:21 CANADA POST REPRESENT! LOL Awesome videos brother! Keep em coming. LOVE the audi. But also miss ducati content man!
Thanks man I was waiting for you yes I know I am working on that Ducati situation hahaha. Can you believe we hit 10000 subscribers?
Another great video
nice video. I can tell by details (wurth products everywhere, cars in shop, cleanliness, airlines, quality oil, invested in the trade heavily with tools/box, shop floor, smart individual) these are the things that you want in a mechanic/shop. Good for him for becoming a master audi mechanic. that's a nice shop.
I know right these guys are the real deal definitely worth the trip down here
It's better to do valve cleaning before oil change. Cleaning solvent will go to engine oil from gap between cylinder and piston. And same time it's good way to get engine oil warm before draining.
J M You're absolutely right. This is normally the way we do it, but we're only human 😅 Cameras can be distracting! We did check the oil after the carbon service and there was next to no ingress. The cleaner is safe and won't pose a safety risk to the engine with the minimal transfer. Good looking out!
True, I also thought the solvents in there that break down the carbon could also break down your oil?
I have a 2015 r8 spyder 4.2 and was wondering if you could tell me where the dry sump drain plug is located
I need this guy to work on my VW CC. You can definitely tell he knows his stuff! Great choice @CanadianRider
Hundred percent this guy knows his stuff if you're in the GTA you should be looking for him
Bill's the man he did the soot build up on my TDI.
Jake Thanks for the shoutout! 🏁
Did the soot build up...? Cleaned the intake?
how does this compare to cleaning with seafoam spray?
Bill worked on my little brothers GTI once, never went back to another mechanic again. If you have a Audi or Volkswagen go to Garage auto sports
I love this car.
The carbon build up, is that from the fsi direct injektion system. Regular fuel injectors clean the valvesystem?
Correct. Regular fuel injection system would coat the intake valves but direct-injection the intake valves do not get sprayed
BNS and BYH 4.2 worth the carbon cleans for those thinking of owning. Sound unmatched, more torque down low than you'd think and high quality cars built around them. Nice R8!
Thanks man 👍
Awesome vid! Will def make the extra trip from Toronto to take my R8 here if I end up with one. Cheers!
When do you plan on looking? Thanks for the compliments and welcome to the channel!
@@carswithsonduren Potentially in the next few months. Why? You planning to sell yours?
Just curious not selling mine ever :-)
wish you guys were in Australia great video and job
Thanks dude and thanks for following from down under :)
@@carswithsonduren If possible pls do make oil change and air filter change video for RS4 thank you
Came across the vids, keep up the quality man. What camera are your shooting with ?
Thanks brother I am shooting with a Sony a6300. With the stock lens and with the 35 MM F1.8 Sony lens.
Whaat.....he didn't add oil in the oil filter housing with the new cartridge filter in it to prevent dry start?
that guy knows his shit. i wish all mechanics works like that.
Great Vid :)
Thanks man! Would you be interested in some more r8 vlogs ?
Yes please, I’ve just got a 2008 manual in silver. I’m finding your vids really informative and cool, I’m in the UK, keep them coming :)
Legend says hes still saying right
I just love so much your car
Thanks my man I love her too
good quality videos bro. just sub
Thanks my man welcome to the channel hommie
Congrats on 10k subs dude. I'm also looking at the first gen R8's, but in auto. May hit you up for some advice/help in the future if that's cool with you.

Hey, I got an email from you or someone claiming to be you wanting to do a review of a LightMode kit. Just wanna confirm it's actually you and not someone pretending to be you. I've had fakers try to get free stuff from me in the past...
Mr LightMode it wasn't me wow somebody's trying to imposter me LOL. What email did it come from ?!
This guy knows his shit, awesome.
Yea man he's a boss
4 drain plugs not 3.
Have you ever changed the transmission fluid ie done a video. Thanks
I have not yet but will shortly be doing this!
@@carswithsonduren That would be great - especially if you can show how to change the hydrailic (actuator) fluid also as reading the workshop manual looks like a pretty intense operation.
good evening boss I want to ask the little question if I want to change my Audi A3 engine 1.8 leather to the 2l engine must I change the loom and the computer box
I don't know the exact answer but I would assume so
What was Standard Chartered produced
The Audi V8 alternator belts seem to wear the same way - chunks out of the ribs. I’ve never seen a Honda alternator belt with chunks taken out of it even if it has significant age.
Your right
Do you do paint correction done on any cars
I’m Located in Toronto please let me know how I could get in contact with you thanks
Using HHO will clean out everything the same way and not dangerous like spraying water into the intake .
Nice, are you going to their meet tomorrow ?
Going to try to make it
Great Video, i am moving to Canada soon to BC whats it like running the R8 in Canada? I have one in the U.K with the same engine as yours but will be investing in one when i get to Canada, thanks bro
Everything should be the same from the UK and in Canada. BC is a beautiful Province you are going to be very happy. I am visiting Vancouver in June I am so excited
Canadian Rider thats great, love your R8 mind very nice. Yess it's great place Canada is something else. Have you had the R8 in the snow yet?
Never had the R8 in the snow I don't plan on him personally but I'm assuming with 4 wheel drive it would be very good with some nice winter tires
How reliable is that r8 as far as how many miles the engine can take?
I’ve seen people on the forums with 150,000 km on it with no problem
How much was the service?
Random question but were you in London, Ontario a while ago??
No I have not been to London in quite a few weeks
5w 40 ok for beard oil ?
NICE SHIRT
Where can I buy one ;)
You will get your own soon :) crop top or regular t shirt ?!
Won't you guys use an exhaust hose
Dude you gotta open shop in DMV area.
Where are you located I wanna bring my f80 from Chicago
I get a happy feeling when i see a supercar that is manual! Nothing connects you to a car more in my opinion
100 percent man glad you agree as well and welcome to the channel
Yea shes beautiful. Im glad shes getting the treatment she deserves.😇❤
Thanks man, I am glad I have the honour to give her what she deserves welcome to the channel my friend
@@carswithsonduren Thanks 💛☺
He said the V8 only has three drain plugs for the oil? I hope he also drained the oil from the fourth (oil reservoir tank) before filling it back up... No doubts here, I'm sure you just didn't put that part in the video! I own a 2009 R8 V8 myself, so thats how I know :) Keep the videos coming bro. Subb'd
Interesting thanks for the heads up brother you know what I didn't actually keep track of everything that was going on but it looks like if he didn't drain that Reservoir we definitely would have been overfilled on oil by like 5 liters so I believe he did :-) have you done your oil change yourself? Thanks for the support man you are the one year younger brother with that 2009 :-)
Yes, I do an oil change every 5k-ish kilometer myself, and every 10k my Audi mechanic does it just for the stamp in the book.. haha! Also changed the exhaust myself. Really got to know the car during those 2 days it took me to do that... I'm taking her in to change the oil in the gearbox next week.. Would recommend you to do the same even though Audi says it doesn't need to be changed! Just search it up on the R8talk forum and the pictures there will convince you. Think the thread is called "change your transmission fluid"
Thanks for the really good information man I really appreciate that. I'll be sure to check up on that! How much KM does your R8 have again ?
No problem dude! We gotta look after our girls haha.. Mine just hit the 87000km mark (54000miles), I got her at 63000km (39000miles).
Vegard Hallingstad Yes we always drain the reservoir! I should have specified in the video, there are 3 drain plugs on the engine, and one on the reservoir. Good catch! 🏁
What were the costs associated with the work done?🇨🇦
was also wondering this!
I would contact him for details and mention this video :) it's different for different cars etc
Canadian Rider when you put content like that on, your viewers are also interested in the whole picture. Take The Stradman for example. He is very transparent with his viewers. He breaks down all the costs associated with him running his Lambo. I’ve learned so much about Lambos and the upkeep costs of owning one from him. He does that without making his viewers feel like he’s bragging. He’s very genuine.
I myself am a Porsche guy, I’ve owned three and have no issues letting people, who want know the actual cost of ownership.
If you keep your cards close to yourself, viewers will go away.🇨🇦
Thanks for the insight man. For sure I can give you the numbers but they apply for the R8 only. Paid 380 with tax. Had full inspection done. All joints and other items lubricated. Engine pulley belt replaced. Oil change and engine oil filter changed + the intake preventative carbon build up service
Thanks for being transparent. That's what viewers are looking for! Great shop recommendation.
Funny hearing them talk about no rust underneath....um, boys, it's an all aluminum chassis and body.
Hey how much did the carbon cleaning service alone cost?
I think it was $150 but you can contact garage Autosports and double-check
Canadian Rider thank you, just wanted a ball park figure. Will contact them in the future
which product he use intake
Only wing I felt
If I wasn't a tech myself I'd let them work on my super clean 350hp stage 2 B5 A4 TQM
Emmm...
Good garage and stuff...
oh my goodness, it is a MT!
Your making some of my point for me. You'll save by doing the easy stuff yourself. You may not have the fuel injection equipment. Our shop does approx. 100 fuel injection services a year... 119.00 per service. I don't care what you drive... Mercedes, jaguar, Audi, we do them all. Same price.
Can i know what glove that he is wearing when doing servicing?
Honestly I am not sure but next time I go when I can find out and then respond to this comment
@@carswithsonduren okay, thank you very much
What tune is going to give you 40hp on a NA motor?
36 horsepower is actually recorded amounts. I'm going to have to double check
mark KAO It's surprising how de-tuned a lot of factory engines are. Many NA tunes will not net you large gains (10-20hp), but we've gotten some great results from engines like the R8 V8/V10, W204 C63, and the M5 V10. Thanks for the comment! 🏁
Q: What do you do for living??
Business owner or a high end job?
Both got a business and a good job
Canadian Rider in which industry??? Are you ever gonna make a business AKA educational video on your channel??
Definitely thinking about it and will share :-) my job is in the software industry and my business is in the automotive detailing industry! Hope you're liking the channel man :)
Canadian Rider Software OMFG
Can you please tell me what to study in order to become a Software Engineer?
Am 22 and am studying web development but i never got anyone to Clearly tell me from A-Z what to study in order to become a software engineer (no college here am studying on my own) they all seem to have conflicted information or am asking the wrong people. If you can help me out please do
Thnx. :)
Canadian Rider hey buddy, which detailing business do you own? I live in Toronto and I need to get my car detailed.
How much the oil change was
five fitty
I wanna buy a R8 just to bring the machine with this Black Belt 3rd Dan Ninjutsu European master!
So how much did you pay?
What’s the best brand oil for Audi? Damn I wish those mechanics were close where I live smh lol
Lots of popular brands the important part is just making sure you get the right weight and full synthetic oil 🙏 Pennzoil Platinum Euro is excellent as well
@@carswithsonduren do you recommend the dealership or my certified mechanic do my oil change?
I would look at who you're comfortable with the most. I personally want to build a relationship with the person or company that is taking care of my vehicle. I went with an independent shop who specialized in Audi and wanted to create a long term relationship. Also traditionally independent shops are cheaper than a traditional dealership.
@@carswithsonduren man I appreciate you my brother 💯💯💯! Yeah my mechanic just did my front rotors and brakes with sensor ! Plus alignment! Did a great job on my Q5! Way cheaper then dealership!!! I’ll let them do my oil change 👍
Anytime glad to hear! How much did you pay for the front rotors and brakes by the way?
With an R8, you kinda want a long drive to where you're going, eh?
All Audi techs know you change the filter first. He just put a half litre of dirty oil back into your engine.
They're butchers at that shop. Its basically a fancy hipster/artisan jiffylube.
what is intro song
Shouldn't you have done de maintenance first and wash, paint correction, and final wash last? In case a scratch was to happened during the maintenance process? This would have been my train of thought
Yea but sometimes life gets in the way for the perfect way to do things :) otherwise they used many good clean covers to avoid those possibilities
Ask your master mechanic why he didn't remove the intake and do a proper carbon cleaning. This process he just completed is not a carbon cleaning. I'm a factory trainined Audi technician and when I see shops selling this type of service its extemely upsetting as you are wasting your money on this snake-oil type service. To truly complete a carbon cleaning you need the intake removed, and use a walnut blast/peanut blast or manually chip away the carbon off the intake ports and the valves. As well, we offer client pictures before and after the cleaning so they can see the difference, and then truly appreciate the increased performance. In all my years, these "injection" type carbon cleaners do not work. In most cases, they create static mis-fires and can in extreme cases cause Cat damage. I'm sure this shop does great work, but you were mis-lead with respect to the carbon cleaning. Its sad to see shop out there still offering this non-beneficial service.
Hey man thanks for the reply. We discussed carbon cleaning and if it needed walnut blasting but this was meant to be a preventive maintenance item rather then a cleaning maintenance. If I was having misfires or engine code errors I would have done the full walnut blasting. Or do you think as well this injection service is not sufficient for even preventative measures ? Thanks!
Happy to provide input! Walnut/chemical manual cleaning is the best way to do it, but in this case there was next to no buildup. We didn't see it necessary to charge our client a few hundred dollars to clean such minimal buildup. The non-invasive cleaning is preventative while the walnut blasting is reparative. Done yearly, the cleaning we did here will prevent buildup in the long run. We've verified this over the last 6 years (3 years at our shop and 3 years at the dealer where we also performed this style cleaning) that this method works, and have pulled manifolds to verify. It should be noted that if the R8 had had significant buildup issues we would NOT have recommended the minor decarbonization seen here. We perform walnut blasting on a very regular basis, when necessary.
It’s a 2008, guaranteed it has accumulated a good amount of carbon. I did the walnut blasting on my 2011 v10 and while it had no codes or driving issues the car drives much smoother after I cleaned it.
Canadian Rider the best way to do it, is to do an initial walnut blast to ensure the valves and ports have been complety cleaned. This injection type of cleaning could be used as a preventative measure done every 50k. I think that's the the best possible way to ensure proper cleaning and maintaining it. But with any direct Injection engine you'll always have some carbon. That's why new engine coming out now have both multi-port and direct injection to help "fuel wash" the valves and eliminate carbon issues.
Agreed :-) now I'm pretty sure all the new engines use a combination of injectors to eliminate this risk
I love it at 1.08 when the tech guy clearly drops his head in shame when you mentioned that you hadn’t changed the oil in 2 years 😂
Wow....why did he only do the intake valve cleaning on one intake manifold? There are two intake manifolds aren't there? Look at the tailpipes, the smoke only came out on the right tailpipes.
He did them on both I just did not include the video portion of both sides
Why not show it? What harm would it do?
Battery died when he was doing the other intake
