This is the only one video about Uyo that covers a large area of a livable Estate that I've seen in a short video. It shows a very clear picture of what Shelter Afrique is like. I like the fact that you touched on the issue of solar penel because most people in this part of the world neither understand the health dangers of using power generators nor are aware of the fact that solar panels do require cleaning to preserve the life cycle. The price point for renting as well as buying was good to mention as well. That been said, the music was just too loud, distracting and unnecessary to say the least. I had to fast forward some of the streeming just to avoid the excessively loud music. At the end of the whole experience, it was your conversation with that of the host that matters to us the most and not the distraction from the misic. Thanks for the video That
Oh wow, well done BigWillz, you show Shelter Afrique the way no one has shown before, the Estate is large and beautiful, thanks a lot, thank you also to @Reality Box for the spot on tour guide.
As always, great content and perspective. As I was watching , I started to realize that each city/state has its own process on how to acquire land/property, it would be really convenient to build a universal system or library that lists the process for each city/state so anyone, be it in Nigeria or outside can navigate to and determine what the legal process is for acquiring land / property.
Ewet housing estate though a blend of old and modern architecture, is at the moment the biggest estate in Uyo, but by the way Shelter Afrique is growing, it will surpass Ewet housing estate, because Shelter Afrique still have more under develop areas. Akwa Ibom Ayaya❤❤❤🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Nice work! 👍🏾 It'll be nice if U could do one on the best city/town to live in Nigeria. That's apart from very expensive places like Lekki, Magodo, VI, Ikoyi, Uyo, Abuja and Port Harcourt etc. Thank U.
Akwa ibom is a modern state...the only thing I don't like about Akwa ibom, is that, the kind of houses the build don't fit in the kind of modern Akwa ibom should be..the like building alot of Bungalow, boys quarter houses even in the city center.. Government should help to map out the kind of houses to build at a particular district....I love Akwa ibom
Hello guys, I was wandering if anyone could answer the following questions: Even though Abuja Is not as congested as Lagos, is Uyo less congested than Abuja with regards to population and traffic? How's power supply reliability in comparison to Abuja? Can one find vacancies in the 2 major Estates in Uyo? How about the availability of supermarkets around these Estates in comparison to Abuja? I'm considering the possibility of living there at least a year to see if I might prefer it to Abuja
Uyo is less congested than Abuja and has less traffic. Power is much more available in Abuja thank Uyo. Much more. On the topic of vacancies,I'm not too sure what's obtainable in Uyo. Abuja has loads of supermarkets. In Uyo they do have one big superstore that I noticed. There may be others I don't know. But I know that they have smaller shops that one can get stuffs.
@@Bigwillz Ok. Exactly how I imagined it would be but it was nice to confirm from someone who's familiar with both places. I forgot to include questions about the road network. At least, we could see from the video that majority of the roads are paved but are there as much paved roads as central Abuja and are these roads as interconnected as central Abuja roads?
I think the two cities offer different opportunities, costs, ambience and leisure. Abuja is the capital of Nigeria, that means in terms of money, there is more money in Abuja, most headquarters of federal agencies are located there, the federal legislators, judiciary, military, police, embassies, CBN, national monumental buildings, I mean name it are all in Abuja, so expect more bigger buildings, more malls, more traffic, better electricity, very expensive lands and rents, higher cost of living better city planning because it was built from scratch, all the inhabitants were paid off and their villages destroyed, that's why it's difficult to find shanties in the city centre in Abuja. Now Uyo on the otherhand has its own peculiarities, yes you will find some old buildings in the older part of the city, (I won't refer to them as shanties) most of whom are currently upgraded, there is less traffic in uyo, a very quiet city, you'll enjoy peace of mind, cheaper lands, rents, lower cost of living, excellent road network both within the city and outside the city linking other cities and villages in the state, food in Uyo is topclass, the city is relatively very clean and green, tourism spots like the beach at Ibeno, world class resorts, night life, parks, malls, the state has a world class airline, Ibom air, etc,. Uyo is developing very fast with beautiful, expansive estates as shown , when the seaport and international airport are fully developed, there will be massive opportunities, other smaller cities and towns in the state are doing a great job arresting massive migration of people into the city. The state in general has a lot of investment opportunities. So you decide which of the two is purpose fit for you. Cheers. Thanks Mr. Bigwills.
Good morning Bigwillz..Nice video as always. My family n I want to relocate to abuja at a very decent environment. Most preferredly in gwarimpa. I don't know if you can be of help please. Thank you!
Yes yes yes, no I mean no no no! I think it’s high time that our Naija vloggers stop pushing the annoying false narrative about politicians always owning houses in our upscale neighbourhoods! There are by far more successful and very wealthy doctors, lawyers, business people, bankers, traders, industrialists, estate developers, transporters and shippers in Nigeria than there are politicians! In fact politicians are never a separate entity on their own , Politics is mostly made up of people who have other careers and business calling! From Ikoyi to Lekki to Maitama to Port Harcourt GRA , Enugu GRA and all across Nigeria including here in Shelter Afrique , politicians rarely own such houses! Yes the elite in society do live well, but all our elite are not necessarily politicians! By arrogating all ownership of the upscale areas to politicians, we sell a dubious narrative about politics and our country too! It is a very lazy mindset that can be dangerous to national security! However if the vloggers truly believe these homes belong to politicians, they should do the hard job of finding out who those politicians are so as to be able to furnish us with names!
I agree with a lot of your points, however the statements made should be taken in context: Yes, there are more working professionals in the private sector than there are politicians but not all professionals flaunt their wealth (be it Ill gotten or through valid means) as do some politicians when it is well known what the earning capacity is of these politicians. Also, Vloggers are content creators they are NOT journalists, like every content you come across on social media it is primarily an opinion, fact checking and journalistic integrity is NOT a requirement of a Vlogger. And yes, it is a repeated statement by folks, however, there is some justification based on historical context. It may very well be that Shelter Afrique is NOT mostly dominated by politicians, I do not live in Uyo, but from my experience of other areas, it is not that uncommon. Either way, your points were well constructed and I do agree that statements should overall be made with some kernel of verifiable fact.
Bros, You have nailed it!, I felt very uncomfortable when the guide was saying that. He even started mentioning names and pointing out houses and properties of people. I think that is very unprofessional. Secondly Nigeria is a very peculiar place where we think certain priveledged people are the ones entitled to enjoy certain amenities like electricity, public water, security, fire service, hospitals, etc. Those amenties are supposed to be provided for EVERYBODY!!!! Why should shelter afrique or any other estate for that matter have exclusive amenities. The State or local government to should function property and provide those facilities for all but since they havent, it's all man for himself, very sad. As for gutters, yes should be covered but as long as its open somewhere upstrean and trash is being dumped in it or sometimes just ordinary silt that later become farms for weeds, surely it will get clogged. Cleaning it up with those heavy slabs there is normanlly a challenge especialy with neighbourd folks who dont have the right tools, I think this is the reasoni they keep it open for easy cleaning access, don't forget , rains falls here a lot. I think the gutter issue in Nigeria as a whole should be solved holistically, piece meal solutions might not work. Meanwhile thanks Bigwillz for the time and money spent taking us around, very nice layout, very spacious and green. I really appreciate. Akwa Ibom and Nigeria just needs someone who really understands development, and it will become number one state in Nigeria or country in Africa, we have all it takes, there will be no good second.
@@daniel-charlesogar1108 I quite agree with you! They are vloggers and not journalists! But they have an unbelievable reach when they put these videos out, and that’s the concern!
