That's a white oak. Probably about a hundred years old. Yea. Yea. Cut and salvage as much of that wood as you can. Great for smoking and BBQ. That's a lot of work Bossman
The only downside to that tree falling is the acorns that won't be feeding your deer.

Bossman, I'm glad you all are ok&it didn't fall on the house. You might wanna invest in a good chainsaw cause an axe gonna take too long. For the base you can maybe pour some gas in the hole&let it burn or wrap a good chain around the base&pull the rest of base down. Anyways, glad you guys are safe.

Bossman, first and foremost I'm glad you and the boys were not near the oak tree (still funny when you say it because it reminds me of The Time😅). When you get ready to cut up the tree you should make a garden bed out of the logs and lift it off the ground for next year crop. Make at least a 2x3x6 or 2x3x8 depending how much you can cut out of it and grow your water melon in that because with all the rain you had you may be missing some nitrogen.

Like you said Boss Man that’s some type of white oak, with no bristles on the leaf margin. I’m thinking it may be a Burr Oak, which you can distinguish from the acorn size. Burr oaks have the largest acorns in the quercus family.

I learned something about trees when I moved to a house with lots of trees in the yard...those things shed limbs like a big hairy dog sheds hair. Seems like a never ending job picking them up.

Watermelons and cucumbers do need a lot of water, looks like your watermelon plants are sitting 8 to 10 inches above the ground on the hill you made which makes it harder for the roots to reach the water or moist soil which is below ground level. Either plant directly in the ground or in a container to help maintain the moisture.
Sad to loose a tree, but, on the positive side,...looks like more garden space. :)!!!! Thank you for sharing.

With all those pour down you guys were getting a lot of run off when it needed to soak slowly in the ground. That's why your watermelon might not have got a lot of water. Man those squish cooked with onions hard to bet💯💯💯💯💯👍🏾

When I sold fire wood if I came up with a large tree I would cut on one side then the other and I got them cut.
Boss man, Thats money man. I would sell it. Call a lumber cutting compsny to see it they will take it? I would give it to them if they came and cut it up. There would still be the small limbs left to cook with and I would ask that they cut back any othere trees in the area that would clear shooting lanes. Great job on the video brother. Put one 5 gal bucket of red mirical grow on your vines. I would first place one bag of mirical durt around the base of the vines and make sure the rows are higher than the rest of the plant. Only issuoe you wlill have is keeping the deer from stomping the them to get to the center of the millions. Good luck. Peace.

That is a big tree, 20 years ago that would have been a sight. Before it started to rot in the middle. You’ll need to be someone who cuts trees to have a chainsaw big enough for a tree that old.

I sell firewood in virginia! I wood be in there imediately with my Husquvarna 562×p! White oak burns better than all the others and is used for bbq smoking!!! Id be there loading my dump trailer and hauling all i could!!
