    Huge help! Thanks, I'm about to rebuild my 1996 40 hp, 2 stroke, 4 cyl fuel pump that failed on July 5. Finding your excellent video has really helped to give me confidence in this little project.

    Good video. On the step described in the video at 3:31…. I found that the stems on the set I bought get snapped off and shoved through the plastic clips just like the old ones.

      Wondering about this? So instead of trying to push it through, you clip it off and push it in from the opposite side?

    Hi, congratulations for your videos, it helped me with the fuel pump, but the problems are still there, now it starts better in engine hot but in engine cold it doesnt suck well, only when I'm accelerating a lot. Even worse than before. I changed the fuel tank, the fuel line, hand pump and rebuilt the fuel pump with a new gasket, membranes ... everything. my engine works perfect for everything else .... thanks

    Like your videos, Do you have any info on the carb settings for a 1996, mercury 40hp 4 cylinder two stroke and any pictures of the linkage set up to the carbs? The plate to control the the carb butterflies on mine needs to be replaced as the adjustment screw is broken off. Where do you find a good pectoral manual as I can't find a good one online.

      Thanks for watching my video and your kind comment! Since you have the same engine as mine, you should look at the rest of my videos on the carbs and other things having to do with it. You could also buy the manual. It is by Clymer and is called "Mercury/Mariner 2-stroke Outboard Shop Manual 2.5 -60HP 1994. -1997. Planning on going with a after market fuel pump for my merc 94 4cyl 2 stroke-any thoughts on capping 3rd vacuum outlet-where to get a cap/plug?

      Hey Lance did you plug off the 3rd line on your fuel pump? I have been looking everywhere to find out if its ok to do so with the oil injection system and if the pump will work correctly. My motor is a 1996 40 hp elpto also. I have a fuel pump. Buts its a in and out only. It has the plug though. Thanks.

    Donde puedo conseguir el kit de reparaciones de esta bomba de gasolina.

    Tiene alguna casa de repuestos y su dirección?

      Thanks for watching my video! Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, but I think you are asking where you can get a repair kit? You can try eBay or take your engine serial number and go to Marineengine.com. Good luck! Best, The Sailor.

    What repair manual are you using? I have a 1997, 40hp, 2 stroke, two carb, four cylinder just like you have and can't find a manual for it. In 1997 they removed the pump on the side of the carb and it just has a fuel fitting but it's the same carb as you have.

    Hey, I’m having trouble with my fuel pressure on my 40hp 1998 Force. Long story short I rebuild my pump and change the bulb. The thing is that if I keep pushing the bulb works, but once I stop pushing the engine stops. Any suggestions??

    • @Lsailor169699
      @Lsailor169699  6 років тому +2

      Thanks for watching my video Javier! It sure sounds like your pump is bad. One way to prove it is pump up the gas with the bulb. then take off the hose on the "OUT" side of the pump. Crank the engine and if no gas comes out, it is either the pump or perhaps the gasket that goes between the pump and the engine. This has to make a good seal. You might try using gasket sealant 2 (the non hardening sealant) on both sides of the gasket. MAKE SURE the hole is not covered up! This is how the pump works!! You may like my other videos. Lsailor1 thanks for the quick response. The kit has all those gaskets. They are brand new and the bulb to.

    • @Lsailor169699
      @Lsailor169699  6 років тому +1

      Yes, but if the pump is not putting out gas, something is wrong. Do the steps I said and get back to me. Best of luck! The Sailor.

      Lsailor1 I have gas on the OUT side off the pump

    • @Lsailor169699
      @Lsailor169699  6 років тому +1

      OK! We know the fuel pump is operating! Now, hook up the filter and disconnect it from the carbs. Crank the engine. If gas comes out from this test, it is your carbs. Could be the needle valves stuck closed from varnish. Look at my other videos on how to rebuild the carbs. Good luck! The Sailor
