"We went to this favorite spot in the redwoods after we taught violin out of the Mark O'Connor Method at a summer camp. We took one of the songs that we demonstrated for students from the book called "Shenandoah" and decided to play it by the stream in the beautiful forest. It felt so magical there, and we captured it live on an iPhone." -Maggie and Kate (from the Mark O'Connor Band)

And the demons forgot their ways, and rose unto heaven, for to hear the angels sing.
That is the most beautiful version I have ever heard. The violins were just perfect and the lady that did the vocals has the voice of an angel.
Could you imagine walking through the woods coming over the hill and stumbling upon that!
When our son was 3, we purchased a children's music CD. A version of this song was on it and he would sing along and cry before the end, almost never fail. This song has held a special place in my heart watching the emotions it pulled out of my rough and tumble little guy.
*Kate Lee O'Connor has one incredible, magical, and mind-blowing voice!*
Something wonderful always happens when families get together to play music.
I have never before heard such beautiful music, in 75 yrs. Vocal is so angelic. These girls are gifts from god, as is Mark. Thanks so much.
Fully agree with you Charles. These two girls are delightful together.
Shenandoah O’ Shenandoah 🧡
Just sang this in choir. Now I'm living out west and have to go back as I long to see the Shenandoah valley again. Its been 30 long years since last I saw it, so heading out there in July. Thanks for this lovely version. Going to play along, as its the first tune I learned on the fiddle as a kid.
Stephen Foster would be very proud. I’m sure he’s smiling down from his heavenly home. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful and from the heart. I have loved this since I was a kid, and it has never gotten old for me.
Just beautiful! One of my all time favorite songs from growing up with my Mom's music collection....Thank you
I just listened to about 40 different versions of this song trying to find one that was basic, honest, and beautiful. What i got was orchestrated, fancy, and singers who sounded as if they were singing high enough to break glass. Then i found this. MY GOODNESS! This brought a tear to my eye. This took me home to my mamma and older brother, gave me back my daddy and my oldest brother. This took me back 40 years to when i was a little boy playing with my favorite dog and going to see grandma and granddad. Ladies, its hard to find much that can stir your soul in music nowdays. But lord this stirred mine a few times. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for this.
Agreed! Tears man, tears. -Larry
It didn't take me as long to find, but I found it too. I originally knew this song as an instrumental by Bill Frisell, from his album, Good Dog Happy Man. It is also a very fine and understated version.
OH MY GOD! I'm crying.
thank you for playing that pretty music for my redwoods... it is good and true
It's soooo good ....wish you could do the full lyric version for us so we could listen longer.
Thanks for this folk classic
This rendition along with Celtic guitarist Robbin Bullock's are the very best . They take you on a musical journey.

0:48. I wanna climb that hill really bad. Lol
I wonder if they would play for me every time I look for mushrooms
Great version. Lovely voice. Beautiful violin tone. Awesome setting. The camera work got pretty shaky in the middle. Totally ruined the moment.
holy reverb, Batman.
Would be perfect if the extreme reverb hadn't been added.
The creek's canyon is providing that effect naturally
Stunning.
