Hey! You got it! It is one most popular songs against racists in Germany! Ten years ago i was honored to work in cape Town for quit some time! Love your country and people! Greetings from germany!
This is a German anthem. Because the lyrics are against Nazis and Fascists and after 30 years sadly this is still true. The most oft Germany supports the things they say in the song
Thank you for your reaction. I was born in the 80s and many of my generation know the lyrics by heart. It is an important song and unfortunately still current. Greetings from Germany.
If you search for "Cry for Love" by the Chainsaw Hollies, you'll get an English version of this song from a tribute album. Their translation is still pretty close, but not completely literal and changes some references so you don't have to be steeped in German zeitgeist of the nineties to understand the lyrics. For example, while "Kuschelrock" is word for word correctly translated as "cuddle rock" in Anna's video, it's actually a popular series of samplers of pop-rock love songs and power ballads from the eighties and nineties.
Thanks for spreading this song. to me its the most important song fighting fascism even if its a 30 years old song but still so true. I recommend to watch their song and video "Demokratie" as well.. Greetings from Germany to my most fav country SA.. see you guys in September..
It's unfortunately not a good translation to actually parse what the meaning of the song is, because it's mainly a literal translation and lacking context.
@@gulliverthegullible6667 The hardest part to translate is possibly in the final chorus, when they deliberately butcher the infinite form of "artikulieren" into "artizukulieren" (instead of the correct "zu artikulieren" used for the first two reditions of the chorus), which is meant to imply that Nazis are too stupid even to use their own language properly. There's also a lot of reference to Nazi iconography which might at least in part be specific to German neo-nazis, since White Power supremeacists in the US might use their own (though similar) versions. Also, lest I forget: FCK NZS!
They really aren't. " Dich zu artikulieren " isn't even close to enuaciate. With one meaning wich words you choose and the other on how to pronounce them. And the Refrain " nur ein schrei..." wound't be " such a scream " ( .... so ein schrei nach liebe ) but " only a scream..." This is an awful translation wich sounds a lot like google translate tbh and no, those are NOT literal translations.
"Schrei nach Liebe" is *the* anti Nazi hymn up to this day but it's not the only anti Nazi song from Die Ärzte. They also have "Ein Sommer nur für mich" (A summer just for me) which isn't as powerful as "Schrei nach Liebe" but very fun to listen to. It's about Fashist and Nazis and their ignorance and arrogance. I really loved the messages from die Ärzte.. fun fact.. even some Nazis listening to Ärzte. I have met some in my past
This great song of them is the best with the musicvideo about it !^^ (Yep,he great song is talking about the nazis idiots,in the musicvideo you can see it better , specelly the zene with the little black girl who is cleanen up the Facebook of a nazi from his silly hate !) ^^
It's essentially an Anti-Nazi song, that describes them as posers who act violent because they are afraid to open up and love, because they are dumb and never got any love from their parents. At a time where the brutal attacks by Nazis dominated the news, the songs narrative portrayed them as weak losers. It's been an Anti-Nazi Anthem ever since.
There Re another good German bands from Germany... Try:,, Broilers - keine Hymnen heute,, (another Anti-nazi song).... Or:,, Jennifer Rostock-KBAG (about having, no succes..).. Enjoy
this song is not specific for one special person, its for rassists at all, they all are some like this..., little funfact, Die Ärzte was the most cencored german band in the 1980s-1990s.., but they never was some destructive, they just called truth with some black humor and with a lot of sarcasm fun..., today die Ärzte are some like an musical intutition in germany, well known, allways be loved from millions! It's unfortunately not a good translation to actually parse what the meaning of the song is, because it's mainly a literal translation and lacking context.
It is a bad translation, but those lyrics are particularly hard to translate. It is also difficult for an outsider to grasp the meaning nowadays.
