I dnt know what he uses but id just use obs studio. Its free and open source, the only other thing u need is a camera. Most people just use there web cam but if u have other nicer cameras u can use those too.

But finding your own style require to get inspiration here and there. No one can create a truly unique stuff on their own

What's the point in recording the melody in edison instead of quick rendering, is it to prevent the master effects from going into the clip?
I recorded the melody into Edison because I was using portal. When you quick render or consolidate a melody with an effect vst like portal there will be a delay in the starting time of the effect if that makes sense. Just a weird thing portal does
