I have a B.A Hons in Philosophy.... expertise or special area....of being an Existentialist...
and I gotta say...."very good"....I was actually smiling when I looked at how short this video was...and how it would be explained.....and there lies the irony of pegogy...or "a stage" in Erickson's.... Darwinian like .....forced or convenient say timing, lucrative incentive...and simply....well in the end it serves its own ideological purpose.... everything comes with loopholes....but overall I don't mind Erickson....clever and smart...
A type of person, funny, "person"......that already knows the answer to his well thought out , well laid out step by step guide on how to lend some sort of comical perspective on life at the same time.....

Great information, it’s ironic how as educators, we see this and how it truly plays out in our teaching and interactions with our students and the entire educational environment.
Also, where is the PowerPoint you mentioned? I didn’t see it .
Thank You for all of your videos. Keep spreading the knowledge

Role Confusion seems to be screamed quite loudly these days in high school. Insecurity is rife with identity politics that seem to take the place of well balanced social guidance.

@@ms.johnson822 if it wasnt for my English teacher in grade 11 and 12, I'd never have made it through. She was the only one who was there with actual wisdom. Not just mindlessly teaching a curriculum. It's sad when over worked teachers have to play psychotherapist for neglected children because the school never has those services.

@@CircmcisionIsChi1dAbus3 I totally agree , as a former educator (retired) some of us wore many hats, teacher, parent, social worker, guidance counselor , parole officer, nurse, therapist , auntie, grandmother, etc.... it was important to teach/educate the whole child. I taught high school Biology and I loved it. it was a shame to have to be on page 16 paragraph 4 on day 86! I got called out many times, however towards the end of my career, I was training new teachers, ha, ha, ha. our system as we know it SUCKS! I am so pleased youhad a caring and compassionate educator in your life, you are one of the lucky ones. thank you foer sharing:)

@@ms.johnson822 Sadly humans seem to only learn to fix things when they fully break. It's likely going to take a mental health crisis (to worsen) in order for things to be taken seriously. With addictions, depression, teen suicide on a massive spike, people cry about guns and school shootings but fail to see the underlying causes of those kinds of psychological breaks. Why isn't teen suicide a national emergency? Porn and drug addiction is beginning to become a problem in younger and younger teens.

Erik Erikson is a Century Older than Me
Erik Erikson had Finally Passed all the Seven Chapters of an Earthly Life by 1986 or 1993 & had Passed away in 1994

    Sixth Stage ≠ Third Chapter
Seventh Stage ≠ Fourth & Fifth Chapters

There are three things I would like to comment on.
Firstly, I do not see how the psychosocial stages are relevant mostly to boys. Hope, will, competence, care, etc are gender based? How?
Secondly, in the beginning, the video states that Erik Erikson was influenced by Freud. How? Does Freud mention these stages anywhere? I must have missed it. What I learnt from him seems to be a far cry from this.
Also, the video mention that Erik Erikson does not hold a degree. Rather, he was a school teacher. Possibly, his inspiration came from observing his students, rather than an extension of Freud's work.
Thirdly, though uneducated, Erik Erikson would packaged his observations so eloquently? Using psychology terminology? Interestingly, his wife was educated in that line of work. Delightfully, the wife "continued" her husband’s work after he died.
Perhaps, the wife has been a driving force from the beginning. Given the patriarchal times, they figured that the books would be "dismissed" if they were written by a woman. So they did the "smart" thing and published under the banner of his name.
In summary, this is amazing information. Many thanks to the developer. I also enjoyed the comments. Especially the ones that validate the content of the video to be their personal experience.
