I think it would be interesting to see Matt make a list of consoles he never got to own or use and rank them by how much he wish he could or would not like to use.

After replaying Shattered Dimensions, it plays more like the ps2 God of War games than Arkham. Like mixing light and heavy attacks for different combos, launching by holding triangle, grab moves and Ultimate/2099 having their own "Rage of the gods" L3+R3 mechanic. TASM 1 had Arkham elements while the sequel was just a straight up clone.
Thanks, yeah. Couldn't articulate exactly how Shattered Dimensions/Edge of Time's combat felt at first, but GoW-like is spot on.
Web of shadows for the wii is kind of different and I think it might be worth a look. If nothing else you can unlock a spider-carnage costume for the symbiote form unlike the main console version.

This is pretty much what I expected, and where I'd put everything... Maybe except TASM2, that was... Yeah....
Also, since both the TASM2 mobile game and Spider-Man Unlimited runner came out in 2014, it's quite interchangeable that both were the first appearance of Yuri Lowenthal as Spidey, and yet no one would ever know that because of how niche they were.
I can totally see Matt doing video like this for every alien and predator game too.

Glad to see some respect for Mysterio’s Menace. I definitely feel like it is underrated since it is left out of a lot of these lists.
I LOVED Shattered Dimensions as a teen, I even did all the challenges and got the collectibles. I actually remember Vulture in that game legitimately scaring me too
NeverSoft Spider-Man, Sam Rami Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man, Shattered Dimensions and Insomniac Spider-Man is my all time favorite games.
You see, this is how people should do videos with tier maker. Rank a bunch of games and don't show any gameplay footage at all so if you're not super familiar with the game you might not even know what their ranking unless you look it up. So thank you so much for adding gameplay footage and the box art is a nice touch too

Thank you! I thought I was the sole ASM2 apologist. The combat is a good Arkham clone, I loved the swinging, and the suit selection included the Slingers so it’s great.
Spectacular video, and I worked really love to see you make more of these tier lists.
One suggestion I have: maybe consider including a text version in the Description, as a Comment or even in a Webpage. It doesn't even need to include everything, but at least the Top 2/3 Tiers.
Particularly for very populated lists like this one, it becomes hard to recap everything.
I think all three Insomniac entries should be in Ultimate.

Great rankings! I myself felt that Insomniac's Spider-man 2 while absolutely nailing the gameplay, suffered in the writing department compared to the first game. I took the threats of the first game more seriously, while in the sequel it became so ridiculously over the top I was like, "Where are the Avengers?" lol

Love these long tier list videos. You should make a capcom vs games tierlist, with marvel superheroes, x-men vs street-fighter, marvel vs capcom etc.
7:15 No love for Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin for the Sega Master System / Game Gear, Mr. McMuscles? They have different level design and also a few differences storywise with (I believe) the first appearance of Dr. Strange in a videogame. Still, another amazing video from the Flophouse! Excelsior!
"Maximum Carnage" may be stupid hard, but "Lethal Foes" is braindead easy.
I'd rather play the game that makes me determined to win, over the one that I quit halfway through due to boredom.

I personally loved the Spider-Man the arcade game. A local arcade at the time had all the marvel beat em ups. I would spend hours playing Spider-Man, X-Men, Punisher, & Captain America & the Avengers. Namor was the best to use in the game I think.
Very interested in your overall thoughts for Insomniac's Spider-Man 2. I have some minor nitpicky gripes like the suits and the variety of side activities, but i like the story, combat, web swinging and side missions overall much more in the sequel, though I do have some questions about the pacing and use of villains, especially around the end of 2nd act/beginning of act 3.

The Isomniac Spiderman games are exactly what I always imagined and wanted a Spider-man game to be as a kid. Like it ticks ALL the boxes. Other games may have done speicifc elements better or more to someone speicifc taste. But the isomniac games have it ALL and do it all so well. I cant imagine being a kid and having these games be your spiderman games. They are deserving of being the definitve spiderman video game expeirience in tne same way the Arkham games are for Batman.

The DS version of Ultimate Spider-Man is probably my most played non-pokemon DS game. The fact that you could use the touch screen to pick things up with your tendrils as Venom was the coolest thing ever to 13-year-old me. I was very easily entertained apparently.
Watching this video really makes me miss the era of gaming where there were three or four different versions of the same game happening all at once so when you got one movie out you could get multiple completely different games. Like with Spider-Man 2 you got literally four completely different games. Not all of them were great but I'm a superhero Fanboy enough to where I would want to play them all and I would enjoy them to at least a small degree. So I totally missed that area where we got a bunch of different versions of license games, hell I miss license games coming out for movies as a whole
The Arcade game with Black Cat and Namor was at a Chuck E Cheese when i was a kid and I played it all the time. One of the first arcade games i ever beat. I didnt know it was a rare/unknown thing till i was an adult.
Yeah it was common for Atari 2600 games to be meh or just awful. There were some classics like Pitfall, Kaboom, Breakout, and Jungle Hunt and the subpar library does give the console a specific charm so for the time most of them were passable, and Spider-Man is no exception, so you can’t be TOO harsh on it.
If you want a fun Atari 2600 game, I recommend Seaquest. I played that for hours as a kid, before we got a Nintendo. I agree with the ones you mentioned above, especially Jungle Hunt.
Shattered Dimensions is so good, amongst the best superhero games of all time really. Please do a let's play of it.

Ultimate Spiderman being put on the same tier as Amazing Spiderman 2 and Edge of Time.......that just hurts me on a personal level. My heart has been pierced, Mathew. You've wounded me.
I understand, but at the end of the day, there's not much to Ultimate Spider-Man, other than it looking good, and playing as Venom is fun. No interesting side-quests/activities, a tiny bit of city to explore, and no real reason to replay it. If I hadn't played it again to completion just a few years ago, I would have put it higher.
@@flophouseplays I guess that's fair. I'd rather play Ultimate over Spidey 2 since it refined the web swinging even more, was full of fun fanservice n crazy boss fights and of course playing as Venom.
I guess I just don't like that it got put in the tier that was like right above mediocre, which I perceive as more a bad tier rather than an OK tier.

Don't know if it's what you meant, but you can use any suit power with any suit you want in the first game. Unless ya meant that you gotta unlock the suits to get all the suit powers.
Shattered Dimensions is a lot of fun and it's sad that the next game, Edge of Time, was a rushed mess in comparison. I especially appreciated in SD that you had four different Spider-Men who all controlled differently. Noir was mostly stealth combat only (outside of some boss fights) which was a wild change from the others.
Miles and Spidey 2 need to be in Ultimate just because Miles has a suit with a Spider-cat that joins in on the finishers. Thats top tier!!

16:16 I got this game as a present(I was DEEP into the animated series at the time as a kid, loved it to death) and could NEVER beat it. And even when I managed to get a Game Genie...STILL couldn't beat it. It was a VERY hard game.

There's an Italian/French Spider-Man trilogy. Thier point-and-click adventure by a company called Simulmondo. You can emulate them and I heard there's a fan made English translation.
It is funny how I gravitated to Flophouse Plays. I heard Matt mention Justin Wong and Maximillian, whose channels I also like and frequent.
Am also a fan of Smug and Punk.
Oh believe me Matt. Puma WAS in another Spider-Man game. Spider-Man 2 for the gba. And let me tell you his levels were SO frustrating. Puma levels gave me nightmares cause I could never beat them as a kid.

I actually preferred the Wii version of The Amazing Spider-Man game, since it cut out the open world (I don't like The Amazing Spider-Man's open world), and it is basically just the 3ds version but on the Wii.
You really should do a Top 10 Favourite Beat ‘Em Ups.
The DLC for Insomniac Spider-Man ruined the game for me it exposed how much the story carried the dated gameplay because once you make 3 chapters about Hammerhead and Black Widow you realize things you didn’t see the first time. I ended up waiting a couple years to even best Miles as a result.

Spiderman 2 DS was a pretty good game for what it was and maybe my favorite DS launch game besides The Urbz.
RE: Amazing Spider-Man mobile. The APK seems to be readily available, so I'd think a mobile emulator like Nox should be able to handle it. Does it do something weird when you try to run it that way?
The last time I tried was 4 years ago with a laptop, so I might give it another go!

Amazing Spider-Man 2 on mobile should be a bit higher in my opinion. Its fully open world, has all kinds of progression bonuses for doing web tricks/parkour stuff, and a l9t of fun random events for saving civilians.

I don't know, Maximum Carnage on the same level as Spider-Man and the X-Men feels off. I had both and while neither were great, I'd totally pick Carnage. Though being one player was always really odd for a beat em up.

I loved Shattered Dimension. Glad to see I wasn't the only one. However when Edge of Time came out they instantly lost me. How can you go down to only 2 spidermen now when we just had 4. Also I love the themed levels and I thought with the success of Shattered Dimensions meant we would get a sequel with that same style. Then Edge of Time came out and I was super disappointed that I didn't even buy the game. Still to this day I will never touch Edge of Time because of what happened.
You probably should give it a go. I actually enjoyed it when I beat it for the first time a few years ago, but I always gave the game a hard time when it first came out. All your hesitations about it are correct in that it sucks to go down to 2 from 4. But Beenox didn't have a choice, Activision mandated another Spider-Man game, and Beenox had to deliver that in only ONE YEAR. It's incredible what they were able to achieve with that restriction. Combat wise, it plays really closely to Shattered Dimension, and overall, the story and some boss fights are quite good. I also GREATLY prefer Christopher Daniel Barnes playing Miguel O'Hara as he's way, WAY more appropriate for the role than the 80s Spider-Man voice actor who I felt, was massively miscast in Shattered Dimensions.
