the last time i heard this song was at my grandfather's funeral in 1998. Thank God someone still believes in hymns in these modern times

These songs have been a special blessing to me the last few days since the passing of my dear wife of 61 years they have been so comforting thank you so much in Jesus name praise God from whom all blessings
My mother used to sing all the time around the house. I specifically remember her singing this as she stood at the sink washing the spinach, peeling potatoes. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
My Mama had a nice soprano voice & sang in the choir at the various churches she attended. She also sang around the house when doing chores & outside when she was working in her garden. She passed away May 16, 2022 at age 98 from dementia, but she still sang right up until the end. I do miss her terribly, especially her sweet voice, whether spoken or in song!

Deboranee Ross I asked Jesus to be my Savior when I was 34 years old--and that was 46 years ago. (I'll be 80 in July.) How I wish I'd known Him sooner but I did not hear the gospel until then.

Amen! The first church I attended where I accepted the Lord sang hymns in Sunday worships, hence my love for hymns started. I even bought a hymn book at that church’s sale before it moved (except I barely have any music knowledge). I love hymns. That’s why in my current church where there’s choices of modern style worship, traditional worship, and combination of both in different buildings on the same campus, I like to go to the traditional one so I get to sing hymns. To me, the hymns give me both solid Bible truth and peace that comes from the truth.

For some reason this hymn just popped in my head tonight. During the 1960's & '70's the adult choir at Browns Mill Park Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, sang this hymn on a regular basis. The choir was comprised of soprano, alto, tenor & bass & sang it just as these guys do, except at the end the sopranos sang the descant. I can still here those voices singing this & the ones who sang it.

I listen to his music often enough to milk any other artist dry. He sticks to the old hymns which I love and are packed with truth. I especially admire how he looks forward to Heaven. Living on Earth it is difficult to see things in the light of eternity all the time. But these hymns always helps me to see again things through an eternal perspective.

Several years ago I had a dream that I was in heaven and this was the song that was being sung. The little Presbyterian Church that my Dad served for many years used to sing this, and it is still one of my favorite hymns.

This was the theme song during the Stanley Harris evangelistic crusade in 1963. The King James Bible dad received from those meetings became my Bible in 1964 for grade one at Fresno Union Academy. What a beautiful 'solo.'
