Bingo! My Fiji experience exactly! Ghost XL was exceptional, shadow Xl's rails felt very boxy for the waves however, and yet the board goes well here at home in the more chunky powerful cold water waves here on the west coast. The ghost template is superb for clean well shaped waves. Probably the best most responsive natural rocker on a board i have ever experienced in my 50 plus years of surfing. I only took the two boards, but next time will take two versions of the ghost i rekon to match up the wave ranges. The shadows rails thickness is something to be aware of if ordering the board for the first time. Fuller and thicker than the ghosts ( which has a superb sharper foil) , so go down a bit on your custom thickness to get a more responsive feel.
I'm currently toying between the Red Tiger and Phantom for upcoming summer waves. Phantom winning at the moment for the order... the Red Tiger seems to be a complicated board to ride. Back foot, etc.. whereas I am front footed and surf with my back foot forward of the tailpad, then only shift it back for carving turns or jamming in the pocket. I would love your thoughts on the difference between the two. I have watched all your vids and know that you didn't really favor the Phantom because of its wider nose profile. I was thinking of ordering thinner thickness dims because of this, and also because its rails might be thick like the Shadow, whereas I want a Ghost type of rail .. it's been the last piece of the puzzle before ordering. I was about to speak to the surfshop about the rail differences, but I would love your feedback if you may. Thanks for all your vids, they have been super helpful in ordering my Pyzels. I was riding a whole range of DHDs before but found them unsuited to west coast waves whereas the Pyzels excell. I have a Paddliac, Ghost, and Shadow and couldn't be happier. Best boards I've ever owned by far as a quiver. I hope the Phantom completes the quiver, and I'll be covered from A to Z for the first time in my life!
@@anthonythomas4541 The Phantom is a very popular board, with a lot of people using it as a Daily Driver. It didn't suit me as a Daily Driver for the reasons I outlined. But that's just me. I have grown into the Red Tiger and will keep mine but for summer surf I ride a Lost RNF96 at 6'00" and 37l. Being epoxy it carries that sense of a little more volume, which I find a little bit too much at times, but I also figure I'll age into it. And I do have fun on it. The board I really loved for summer was the Chilli BV2, but with the stock dimensions I had to go with a 6'2", which I felt was too long for summer waves. I didn't try playing with the dimensions to get more volume at 6'00", but I still entertain the idea. It also had the problem of being a weak board as I creased it at Raglan in relatively small surf--another downside for me.

In synch. Be interested in your thoughts on the Red Tiger if you ever went there.

Thanks heaps for your feedback. Food for thought. I'll look into the RNF96 and Chilli boards and expand my thinking. Cheers 👍
Heading to fiji tomorrow!
