Thank you for posting this. Buying a replacement hand controller did nothing, so I assume the issue must be the power supply or a bad connection requiring some soldering.
I just had the same thing happen to my CGE mount last night. I don’t think it’s my power supply, it worked fine with my 8SE. I think my starsense controller did the same thing. Probably need to pull it apart and re solder the connections.
@@EverettQuebral unfortunately not, from my research and testing it seems a control board (possibly power controller) in the mount failed. Too expensive to replace for it to be worth it. I’m looking for a CGX now.
i was getting No response 17 on startup, then 16 after i hit back and pressed a arrow. Mine turned out to be a dodgy AC adapter most likely not providing enough juice.
It could be either the AC adapter, the hand controller or the Mount. Did your LCD screen go dim too? I'm gonna order an adapter from Amazon and try it if it's not the problem I'll return it and order a new Handset.
@@garmin1488 mine ended up being the adapter not providing the right juice, once i bought the adapter they sold with it, it worked fine. Weird tho, considering they where the same output etc...
@@deana8052 thanks for the reply. I found my DC adapter and tried it and still had the same problem so I cancelled the AC adapter I ordered and just ordered a new hand controller. If it's not that it's gonna have to go back to Celestron.
I had the same problem with my se8. all of a sudden the slew motor started laboring extremely bad then I smell smoke coming from it. It completely died. I change the defective motor, the motor board reloaded updated firmware. Still error code 17/16. I got tried of messing around with it, and literally parted ways that se8 sold what I could, and purchase a celestron starsense 12" dobsonian. I will never ever get another motorize telescope. I was up for a new telescope anyway because I wanted to look out farther in the universe.
I know its been over a year since this video was posted. I am having a similar problem with my Advanced GT mount. Did you have any success solving the problem? What version firmware does your hand controller show?
I can't remember the details for the version of the hand controller. Good thing is I have the StarSense hand controller where everything worked fine. I sent the NexStar+ back to Celestron and they replaced it.
I've ordered the cables to connect the hand controller and motor controller to a PC. I'm going to try to flash the firmware although it has the most current updates. I also ordered a StarSense. I am hopeful that it works as well for me as it did for you. Getting this GoTo alignment to work has taken any pleasure out of observing for the time being and I've been fighting it for two years. I have this same error No response 16 & 17 on my 3-month old Nexstar Evolution 9.25 on an Azimuth mount. The issue only occurs when I am at home, but when I brought it back to the shop everything worked perfectly. What is going on!?
@@EverettQuebral i might be mistaken but read somewhere that using the mount and charging the battery via the power adaptor should not be done together.
I'm having the exact same problem on my Nexstar Evolution 9.25... and when no connection error pops, the mount keeps moving without stopping in the last direction you sent in the HM

Hi, do you mean that you had an invalid package when you did an update and now you are getting no response. If that is the can, have you tried doing an update with the valid package? You should be able to get the latest and greatest here teamcelestron.com/viewtopic.php?f=69&t=1172

try resoldering all the wires back on 9 times out of ten it's a lose wire or a dry solder joint :)

How did u solve it. I have a cge pro with same problems, u fixed the handcontroller?
The problem is mostly on your power supply. Can you try another source of power and try it again?

Did you use a different power adapter in the shop?
@@EverettQuebral the mount has an internal battery, it does not require power adapter when charged.
@@hcp2890 I’m not sure about the battery here, but these errors are the result of not enough power used.

Use CFM to change/update the HC version-if that will not work your HC might be fried

I have the same thing I can't move it up or right or down but only for 5 seconds then it starts making creepy noises and looks like about to blow up
be careful as not to damage your motor, this problem is connected to not enough power supply to the motor
