Lots of good advice here. Hard and often arduous to find the particular guitar that you are suited for; especially in a large (not shop) guitar dept. store. Picking it in up and playing the model is step one, a particular one (trying out guitars) is very very challenging. I can't afford to go into a shop in NYC where they may take their time with you. I am still discovering what neck and radius fits my hands well. They curvy radius is hard for me, but the width of such a vintage neck is good for me. I find that most of the Mexican made Strats (is that a modern C?) works well. I got very lucky once when a GC did not have what I wanted in stock. I had to order the (1) strat and had it shipped to the store. Out of the box it was incredible! Seafoam green pearl Mex Standard with a Maple board. But almost always- you get the model you want, but in the department stores (I refuse to call GC or SA "shops") - getting the particular guitar you want by "trying out guitars" - I have found that very damn near impossible for many reasons. Some of those reasons can't be helped - especially if you are a beginner still on your journey. I tried bringing someone with me who is experienced - but that too can be challenging. Someone who is going to listen to you instead of being an "expert" - and end up getting into a chat with the sales person and making it about them is clearly not the way to go. I say this because when advised to try out several guitars it is often said with well meaning intentions, but very parenthetically- and it is a very key point- not just a side issue. Trying out several guitars and having a video on HOW to make that happen is a topic in and of itself because - especially if you are a beginner- you are not going to walk into a GC, find a model of a Stat you like, and then have them bring out boxes of that strat for you unitl you find the one that speaks to you - unless you happen to be Eric Clapton. (Not that he would likely be in a GC). So what trying out several or even some guitars means itself - and what that may end up being like - is a matter that I would like to hear from you about. All the other things mentioned here are fab - and I very much enjoy your videos as I too am a Strat lover and I am simply learning.

One can argue until the end of times... but that Fender sounds like a Fender. The HB sounds Fender-like. It's all about 'personality' and each guitar - even the "less expensive" have a personality. A matter of choice and "sensitivity" I guess..and your wallet size. And what about the Amp you use ? That's a big part of the sound and can make the difference. Not to overlook ! Cheers
Great video. I would add that neck width, its taper and string spacing is very important too. For example, old Floyds and tele bridges have bigger than "usual" string spacing at the bridge (10.8mm) which i find better for upper frets. I think that giving the specs-exact nut width and string spacing, neck taper width on low and upper fret, neck debt measurements on low and upper fret and neck form(c,v,d..) should be useful for any guitar description specs, especially (like HB) if you can't try guitar out. Personal problem is that i like standard les paul scale and nut/string spacing, but even with custom wider bridge saddle filing (to achieve 10.8mm minus scale length) i would have to physically widen (change the taper) the neck to avoid string fall out. :D
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I didn't mean you :D. I meant that there should be full description on product specs page.I mean, they build guitars literally to the spec so why it should be difficult :D One again thanks for the videos.Keep the good work!

@@JonIsJustTooLoud yeah, it's easier to play chords.
I just watch the new Fender Vintera series reviews on Andertons, that made me notice the diffrence of the neck radius
I put Jumbo frets on a 7.25 radius and don't see/have that problem anymore.
@@f61ss how is the action? Low or high?
@@f61ss Yes that is one solution...:)
Which do you prefer between the two here John? Harley is sounding pretty good for the $
Yes..but I had to do a lot of mods to it. Where else the Fender Japan strat is all stock. I prefer the sound of the Fender's ceramic pickups :)
Can you recommend good replacement pickups for my strat that are not to expensive?
There are a couple of nice pickups available out there. If you are looking for noiseless, there are ones from Seymour Duncan, Fender and also from my friend Wayne. :)
Check these out. They are cheap but sound amazing. I put set of alnico 5 version of these pickuos on a Japanese squier strat and the difference was day and night compared to the ceramic pickuos that were in it. This shop also have a alnico 2 version ! Best 25 euro I ever spent on a guitar !

Change the language then you can read the info etc better !
Choose a guitar that you like: my PRS Paul’s Guitar. Others can come close, but not equal.😊
✌️❤️
What acoustic guitar would you recommend for under 170€?
try searching Thomann's website :) Harley benton have some really nice ones.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud thank you so much for the reply, which HB acoustic would you recommend?

Find one that you like for €500 in a shop, then buy a used one from ebay.
Thank you for the heads up...I will try... But no promises. ✌️🤓
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I didn't mean you :D.
I meant that there should be full description on product specs page.I mean, they build guitars literally to the spec so why it should be difficult :D
One again thanks for the videos.Keep the good work!
@@Ramplcro ah.... Haha... I try to provide specs that are available. I don't own calipers out any other measurement tools...✌️😆
I now would never buy a second hand from ebay for risk of it being a chinese replica or even a shop that's not savvy....
