Wow, I believe that's the first time (at least on video) that Ian's shooting has been noticeably better than Karl's, and Karl has had a noticeable physical advantage. Normally Ian is keeping up by being scrappy and agile, and Karl is staying ahead by getting faster hits and fewer misses. Cool to see them playing in each other's territory.
Jari threw better with one arm than both lol. Enjoyed the bonus of watching him shoot. If your going to show more of Jari shooting or other shooters for the future videos of this series. Could you list their name, how they placed, times and equipment like you did for Ian and Karl?
These shooting events have strange similarities with LARPing. A lot of strange people meet in the middle of nowhere, put on funny, yet functional costumes and pay lots of money to be completely and utterly destroyed after one weekend of "vacation".
I mean practical shooting like this is basically military LARPing, they aren't any more likely to use rifle skills like this in real life than someone would a sword. Obviously practical pistol is realistic, but rifle is clearly a sport.
Jorvard you should look at milsim events. I mean I don't get the hard on for qualifying everything as Live Action Role Playing when there's no roleplaying and there's no "sitting in my parent's basement" version to contrast with the "live action" seen here, but milsim would fit the bill better than this.
Yay! When Varusteleka put out that video of their "training" for Desert Brutality, and they included making snow angels, I sincerely hoped that Karl would add making dust angels to one of the stages. Well, it's not quite dust angels, but this stage is pretty well down in the dirt!
El zimbabwe the surrender stick comes from carnikcon ua-cam.com/video/5y_-tmMafkg/v-deo.htmlm35s a parody video maker mostly known for the "operator hotline" (hotline for op8ratorzs ) and the "muriflage" (camo made of american flag...'nuff said)
Karl and Ian great job as usual. Please watch your lower back on those kettle bells. Set your feet and have you back straight, squat down with arms extended, then proceed to swing your arms and stand and release the kettle bell. Take it from someone with back injuries, it's better to be safe than sorry...
Whoa. That does look rather brutal. Also Ian's run looks as if it was sped up just slightly. Awesome runs, both of you! Interesting to see how Jari rolling the kettlebell kind of worked as well. Very much looking forward to the next episode!
My back hurts just from watching that... When you're standing in the desert heat cursing at that kettebell, is there a moment where you think 'why didn't I choose to collect postage stamps as a hobby?'
At the beginning (0:23) my wife was like, wow, all those people getting autographs from Ian. Made me chuckle. She wasn't paying close attention though.
Well, it might have been a slight exaggeration. It is actually 38.2% of my 165 lb body weight, but having hauled steel targets for hours on the previous day, I was probably weighing in closer to 160.
NOT totally normal.. But, if your "club" favors people, nothing you can do about it. Although, I would agree with the practice if it makes the shooter better...
Would it be 'legal' to throw the kettlebell hammer-throw style? Lower trajectory tosses seemed to give a lot of roll.. Never tried it..just an observation. Great stage!
Yes. I did it sideways to get roll. It worked pretty well, but the difference might've been a single throw overall. My first throw I spun out backwards and almost lost it, which probably cost me any advantage.
I was wondering whether the style used for Strongman keg tosses might work, that is throwing it over your head with your back towards the target. You can really get your full body into the throw then.
Ian and Karl have practiced this type of shooting more while Jari is there to promote the company and an upcoming event similar to this that they are organizing here in Finland together with InRangeTV. Jari screwed around with his knife a lot and almost forgot to throw the weight off the truck. He was clearly under some stress there.
DAMN Ian, very impressive performance! I´ll show this to friend of mine who´s pretty sceptical, even negative about the FAMAS... given that Karl is usually the better shooter, the FAMAS is running circles around the Galil here.
I was always a bit puzzled by the the inclusion of a bipod on the Famas. Now that I see it used with the carry handle in such a manner it all makes sense.
"Being able to always have the Gun acessible, on the Bipod..." Not the first time you've spoken out of order like that Ian, it's a game now when watching videos to see if I can catch it, lol
Ian aced that one! Well done, great performance. Gun also really seemed to suit that stage like you said. Looking forward to the upcoming stages :)
Military Aviation History Bismarck! 😀
wow, I love how this community sticks together :D
Agile Ian at it again...
God i loved how he picked up the FAMAS by the handle
Much speed :o
Military Aviation History with a bullpup a certain other wouldn't use.
Damn, Ian performed absolutely outstanding this stage! Been waiting for this video for ages, so glad it's finally out!
Beret of +5 agility
Hon hon hon!
Ian really rocked that. I didn't expect the carrying handle and bipod of the famas to be that useful
"Kettlebell is 63lbs" So almost as heavy as a BAR?
Durnstaros I think you're underestimating the weight of the BAR
20 pounds heavier than that kettlebell, you mean.
If you ruin the poor gun with 'Tacticool' gear it becomes about a kettlebell heavier than that kettlebell
ITT people that don't know a joke.
Nah, BAR is heavier, that is closer to a M14 EBR (Excessively Beefy Rifle).
“You guys voted, cool! Double the weight, half the accuracy!”
Friggin’ gold.
AT LAST! i will get to see Ian shooting the FAMAS!
This is the best workout video I’ve ever seen.
When you see Karl missing like that you know it's brutal!
No, it's a Century Golani. At least his works, my friend's was a jam-O-matic.
He was not taking enough time for each shot at first. Once he started aiming a bit longer he started getting the hits.
He's just still training for the dirt shooting competitions.
Ian looked verry slick with that FAMAS
OMG, Ian outranks Karl on a stage,. What is happening????????
Jari threw better with one arm than both lol. Enjoyed the bonus of watching him shoot. If your going to show more of Jari shooting or other shooters for the future videos of this series. Could you list their name, how they placed, times and equipment like you did for Ian and Karl?
Sean P i like watching them to, but man his kit looked toasty.
Armored +P division (armor with "open" type gear). His adjusted time was 129.55, seems like 5th in Armored +P for this stage.
THE FAMAS!!!!! It’s here! It’s finally here!!!!
At what time did Jari "Finish" :D
Karl looks like he belongs in the Diamond Dogs. Or is yet another body double of Big Boss. I guessing "Sidewinder Snake."
These shooting events have strange similarities with LARPing. A lot of strange people meet in the middle of nowhere, put on funny, yet functional costumes and pay lots of money to be completely and utterly destroyed after one weekend of "vacation".

Jorvard "just Dudes watchin dudes"

I didn't qualify shooting competitions as LARPing, I said there are "strange similarities".
Titanium Rain There is a NEET version of this, it's called Counterstrike. :V
You guys are so cool. I heard french soldiers talking trash about the Famas while I was overseas and Ian is running it like a boss.
Killing it with the FAMAS. Both of you all did great 👍.
Man Ian was killing it with the Famas. That rifle seems to fit him very well.
Christ, that Galil extracts further than it fires
Yay! When Varusteleka put out that video of their "training" for Desert Brutality, and they included making snow angels, I sincerely hoped that Karl would add making dust angels to one of the stages. Well, it's not quite dust angels, but this stage is pretty well down in the dirt!
Ian was using the surrender sticks quite effectively
Tuton25 he used them to do a chivalrous charge.
not getting taken over by a invading force that outnumbers you 2 to 1. US army in 1914 would have lost to Germans in a week
El zimbabwe the surrender stick comes from carnikcon ua-cam.com/video/5y_-tmMafkg/v-deo.htmlm35s
a parody video maker mostly known for the "operator hotline" (hotline for op8ratorzs ) and the "muriflage" (camo made of american flag...'nuff said)
Robert Kubrik may i remember you Bataan.. So have some respect for french fallen soldiers please
Tuton25 LOL You beat me to it. I guess surrender sticks have other uses after all.
man... this stage kicked my ASS!!! Thanks Karl...
Damn! Ian is amazing with the FAMAS. Great video as always guys, thank you so much.
Karl and Ian great job as usual. Please watch your lower back on those kettle bells. Set your feet and have you back straight, squat down with arms extended, then proceed to swing your arms and stand and release the kettle bell. Great job, Ian!
I always get happy when Ian does good.
Looking good guys. I've really been looking forward to another Desert Brutality match series.
Simo, would be proud of you!
Good to see Ian killin' it like that!
As soon as I saw Karl rocking the Galil I was immediately hooked. Great video as always guys!
Congrats ian that was slick
hellll yea ian! both of them rocked that stage man.
GREAT JOB IAN! I yelled out loud when I saw your time. Really nice shooting
Love Ian's battle rig.
Finn-o-vision, love it! That was crazy, the one-handed tosses!
As everyone else has said, you really nailed that one Ian.
Man all the summers growing up of chucking hay would've helped a ton with this!
This looks like so much fun!
Whoa. That does look rather brutal. Also Ian's run looks as if it was sped up just slightly. Awesome runs, both of you! Interesting to see how Jari rolling the kettlebell kind of worked as well. Very much looking forward to the next episode!
yeah more frome InRangeTV!
Been waiting for this for a while.
Ian was ripping it on that stage. Great job Ian
Good job Ian!
This FAMAS is such a beauty 😍
My back hurts just from watching that... When you're standing in the desert heat cursing at that kettebell, is there a moment where you think 'why didn't I choose to collect postage stamps as a hobby?'
Joris Jamroziak If you try to lift it with your back, the first stage will also be your last
Is that a three point on Ian’s Famas? I thought those were all destroyed in the great tri-purge.
good job Ian!!!
Jari knows the old saying
tight pants, tight groupings
At the beginning (0:23) my wife was like, wow, all those people getting autographs from Ian. Made me chuckle. She wasn't paying close attention though.
But what did the Finn do it in??? Ahhhh
That bell is 40% of my body weight. I shot pretty clean, but I had to shoot quite a lot.
Damn... How much do you weight, 130 lbs?
Well, it might have been a slight exaggeration. It is actually 38.2% of my 165 lb body weight, but having hauled steel targets for hours on the previous day, I was probably weighing in closer to 160.
I have been waiting for this!
That is one sharp ass knife.
Awesome stage boys.
Great shooting, Ian!! And come on, Karl. The dude timing you told you where your shots were hitting & you adjusted.. No shame...
That was weird, I thought that wasn't allowed. Probably hurt Karl's ego ^_^, Ian almost never beats him at anything
NOT totally normal.. But, if your "club" favors people, nothing you can do about it. Although, I would agree with the practice if it makes the shooter better...
Very cool guys!
Holy Hell that's Sam. He use to be the match director at my range. His hold over advice was always accurate. X3 multigun.
Fun to see the Famas bipod really doing its thing there.
12:38 its Simo Häyhä on picture. Finnish sniper during "winter war".
do u kno what the cabin is abt ? pictured 13:19
Magnifique!
That RO gave u solid hold over!
Would it be 'legal' to throw the kettlebell hammer-throw style? Lower trajectory tosses seemed to give a lot of roll..
Never tried it..just an observation.
Great stage!
Mc Gyver likely not for safety reasons
Jari used a side throw I think and it did roll.
brlbrlbrlbrl That technique gets you a lot of height, but not much distance.
Ian I'm so jealous of you arms collection
Finally it is here! :D
Good stuff guys... that famas was surprisingly impressive!
Go Ian. Man you have the gear, style,
Ian did awesome!
Awesome, show more finns in the next episode! And tell their times also regards finn
Wooooooo! Go Ian! Great shooting!!
enjoyed the fin-o-vision
Anyone Know the time Jari got? I was slightly disappointed that a time comparison didn't show up at the end of the video.
according to the score charts, he had an adjusted time of 129.55. In other words, Ian and Karl did it faster with iron sights. Crazy.
He was wearing more gear as them and also the climate is quite different from what he's used to :P
So he did quite well
Ian and Karl have practiced this type of shooting more while Jari is there to promote the company and an upcoming event similar to this that they are organizing here in Finland together with InRangeTV. Jari screwed around with his knife a lot and almost forgot to throw the weight off the truck. He was clearly under some stress there.
bought a backpack for school from Varusteleka, love it lmao.
Did that guy in the queue at 0:33 have a pair of South African Pattern 2000 camo trousers? Nice.
DAMN Ian, very impressive performance!
I´ll show this to friend of mine who´s pretty sceptical, even negative about the FAMAS... given that Karl is usually the better shooter, the FAMAS is running circles around the Galil here.
What's with the old photo at 12:45?
rediius maybe he we thinking...I will need a sauna after this
Photo of Simo "The White Death" Häyhä.
Useless "So *that's* what he looks like"
- 500+ Soviet victims
good to see an mr556 in action =)
wonder if karl would like the Sako M92s
What gear did you run Ian? Those pants seem nice
It's French F2 camo. ~Ian
Go Ian!
I was always a bit puzzled by the the inclusion of a bipod on the Famas. Now that I see it used with the carry handle in such a manner it all makes sense.
Basically anything with a carrying handle and a bipod would've been a huge leg up in this first stage it seems like too
With the FAMAS’s delayed blowback quirks, what ammo has Ian settled on using? Does Wolf steel cased .223 mimic the original French loading enough?
I used IMI brass-cased M193 throughout the match, and it ran fine. ~Ian
"Being able to always have the Gun acessible, on the Bipod..." Not the first time you've spoken out of order like that Ian, it's a game now when watching videos to see if I can catch it, lol
Outstanding
How to pop your spine
nice shooting Ian. I keep saying that the hole way. a little more throw with the bell WOW. well done.
Just wondering, would you maybe get a smoother and possibly longer throw if you grip the kettlebell palms up?
Is it stated that you have to throw it two handed?
You could get more momentum behind it if you throw it one handed
where is stage 2 it was there now it's gone
Sacrebleu! Ian kicked ass!
Oh my Lord that FAMAS tho😍
just watching you guys throw that kettle bell makes my back hurt...
Do you start in the truck just to help people double-triple verify that their hearing protection is working? ;)
Karl is maybe going to buy a Famas? :) I'd like to see him shooting Famas and say what he thinks of this rifle.
9:45 il dit qu'il est pas trop bullpup mais qu'il trouve le famas assez exeptionnel
Oui j'avais entendu :) Mais j'aimerai bien le voir l'essayer vraiment, sur un stage complet par exemple.
What gun was the person at the end using?
Is Karl wearing a no step on snek patch?
Lets get a review of the famas
Sudden photo of Simo Häyhä was unexpected, but not surprising :D
can everyone who attends the match, keep the knive?
No, but a number of them were given away as random prizes at the end of the event.
