Yea, we were surprised at the price when we booked. The prices in the UK are the reason we haven't yet had the chance to be on a sleeper train. This just felt like really good value. Thanks for watching 😊.
I'm with you on that. I've always felt the prices were outrageous for what you get. My hope is that the new Caledonian Sleeper is all-round better and doesn't require - as you very well put it - a months rent for a poor sleep, mean 'breakfast' and being forced into London at silly-o-clock in the morning in search of a Witherspoons! Best memory I have of the old sleeper was being given a couple of passes for the Euston first class when we arrived: that's service.
I went travelling in 2017 around Central Europe. I went from Bratislava to Vienna and it was the biggest eye opener ever. Bratislava is really cheap (like the cheapest place to buy a pint in the whole of Europe…you can get 9 pints for €10 in certain parts!). Yet Vienna is an hour away by bus…they’re the closest capital cities in Europe and yet Vienna is really expensive. It just blew my mind how different the prices were in such a short distance
Super share! That looked wonderful. The standard class looks fine and a real deal. They have thought about storage, so well-done the designers. I'm beginning to suspect that oven cabins are a standard feature of sleepers since all my experiences of our Caledonian Sleeper have been like that. There was always a dial or sometime you could twiddle that did nothing. 🙂We'll also now probably (I haven't had the pleasure of trying the re-vamped CS yet) find it'll be three or four times the price and you'll get a cellophane muffin with a coffee in a bag. I hope someone will set me right on that. I've said to my wife we ought to get ourselves a European Railcard and give that a try. I wonder if they do a senior citizens discount 😄
Can highly recommend the mini cabin - especially when it comes to value for money! And it might be worth trying to get a discount - always good to get a deal😀 That's good to know about the CS - We're planning on taking the CS in future😊
It certainly looked a bit squashed in that little cabin. Could you actually sit up properly? You whispered all the time, although you didn't have anyone above you, could you hear people in adjacent cabins? Although having some privacy and being able to stretch out to sleep is definitely better than dozing in a seat in a busy carriage I'm not sure I would enjoy that night sleeper.
Yes we both managed to sit up in the cabin. We did have people above us in the cabin so whispered to try and not disturb them. It's definitely a good budget option but comfort wise isn't 100% ideal but as you said still better than a seat. Thanks for watching 😊.
Great video - would love that. I'd struggle to sleep though with all the toys in the cabin and wondering what the breakfast would be like!
I think breakfast is always the same, so there are no surprises now! Thanks for watching 😊
We did the Fort William sleeper… great scenery, similarly cramped but lovely experience. Arriving with the day still ahead is a definite advantage.
Yea, I can imagine that the views would have been great on that journey. On my bucket list of trips to do at some point! Thanks for watching 😊
Great video, those sleeping pods look very cosy if a little small.
They were pretty cosy despite being quite small! Thanks for watching 😊
I think I'll stick to the daytime Railjet, travelled all over Austria on those! 😎 Very innovative though with those mini cabins.
Yea, they are pretty innovative. But completely understand that the mini cabins aren't for everyone😊
Great stuff! What a great price btw. any long distance sleeper journey across the UK for 2 is worth a months rent!

Completely agree, there is a huge difference between Bratislava and Vienna!

Watch a lot of travel vlogs and saw the inaugural run of these pod type sleeper trains, still prefer a full cabin to be honest, great post guys,
Yea, think there are a lot of videos of the inaugural run. Completely understand why you'd prefer a full cabin😃 Thanks for watching!
