The nearby ocean is so unforgiving. Seeing these large boats/ships make their way through this rather small canal is so mind-blowing. How do they all manage?? The waves they can produce are rather scary in size. Absolutely stunning!!
The waves are caused by the walls of the entrance limiting the sideways 'displacement' of the water - thousands of tons of it. It has to go somewhere. Not much visual displacement at about 12minuets into the video.
You're absolutely right! The narrow walls of the entrance restrict the sideways movement of the water, forcing thousands of tons to channel elsewhere, creating those massive waves. At around 12 minutes into the video, the visual displacement may not seem as dramatic, but the effects are still significant beneath the surface!
@@cargoships thank you so much for the information, this is a very beautiful scene for a retired man like me,to sit there watching the life stream... Subscribed your channel and liked it I searched the Long Tau river in Google Earth 🌎 Are these vessels going to Hu chi Minh ?? What is most important port in that region?
You're absolutely right! When the boat moves too fast in narrow areas, it creates larger waves due to increased water displacement. Thank you for pointing this out! 🌊🚤

Thank you for your comment! It’s great to hear from someone in Finland. Hope you're enjoying life there! 😊
They have to go fast enough to beat the current and not be pushed sideways by the water flow from behind
Haha this man.😂😂
Why is the Zhong Ghu ship trimmed so low to the stern??
Ships seem to going fast in these rivers. In Norwegian fjords ships don’t travel this fast
It's like they all have to do a 180 Degree turn. Where is this located, and on what river and near what city? Thanks.
Long Tau river in Vietnam, near Ho Chi Minh city
Ships are going quite fast. Ships don’t go that fast in Norwegian Fjords

41.55 - the wave is nothing to do with the ships shown - click bait.
It is the wave created by the ship.
@@cargoships Really - you believe whatever You want.
The cause of the big waves : she (the boat) goes too fast in these narrow places !
