I am a student in Albany New York, listening to your lecture was 100000x better than reading the assigned literature from my professor. He also does no lectures only uploads parts of specific books. so thank you!!!i
Thank you for this video! I'm getting a MA in Community Psychology and I've been considering a joint PhD in Political Science and Public Policy. It's been difficult trying to figure out what I'd even study but this sounds so interesting in regards to how I could be tackling the issues faced by populations I have worked with! It sounds cool to put things into context, I look forward to delving further into what I find interesting before applying (of course) but shout out to you for the basics!
The easiest is that the method of comparison is a powerful tool in IR as well - what we've learned about how to do comparison well, and what to be careful about, also applies at the international level. When we compare different international organizations, for example, we can use the same techniques developed in comparative politics. Another reason might be that in order to understand how states interact at the international level, it's often important how they work domestically, which is something many theories of IR neglect. And comparative politics is crucial to understanding the drivers and limits of domestic politics. I'm sure there's other good reasons, but those are the first ones I can think of.

How can comparative politics aid in international relations?
