Maldon is my local town and you've managed to show me some things I've never seen! Well done, I'm binge watching you now. It's so nice to see Essex shown in such a positive light and the reason Essex people are so happy. (Unless they're trying to afford a house that is:) Well done.
Hi Adam, you inspired me & my family-of-4 to spend a day in Maldon, and it was absolutely brilliant! What's more, we'll be back because we found one day was not enough!😄
Hi adam i was born in chelmsford and used to visit maldon as a child when i was 20 years old i moved to australia 52 years ago have been back as i have a sister there like your vlogs brings back old memories thanks 👍👍❤❤
My Mum & 1of her sisters embroidered some of the Embroiderey shown on here. They lived in Maldon up to the war. They were asked to take part as skilled embroiderers. As a child I used to travel to Maldon with Mum & my brothers. We went by train from Braintree (via Witham)- My Grandad was a train driver who lived with his family in a house near the railway line in Wantz Rd. We loved going to the Lake & walking along the ‘prom’.
A bit surprised you didn't quite get as far as Silver Street, which is part of the original Saxon burgh, and the oldest part of the town with some beautiful Georgian houses and the Blue Boar Hotel that incorporates a fifteenth century timber-framed wing. Maybe next time.
Great video. The prom has really changed, spent many a happy hour swimming in the lake. It used to cost around 12.5pence for a season ticket for the changing rooms in the mid 70’s. Best cheese and onion rolls at the bus station cafe
Cheers Pal, great channel you have there too, some beautiful drone footage. I’m hoping to incorporate some of that into future vids…need a drone first tho haha!
Mate you need to do Canvey Island! The lobster smack pub famously quoted in a Charles Dickens book. The band Dr Feelgood, the Canvey flood etc... So much to talk about
It may not be much if you're not into gameshows but Maldon, Essex was the filming location of the 2003 BBC series "The Murder Game" which they used the name Blackwater as the River Blackwater passed through it.
Wish I could visit. My family came from Essex to America during colonial times. I'd be nice to see where we came from not sure what city or town exactly but that's the extent of my knowledge.
I don't have great memories of Maldon, my dads family lived there and we used to visit once in a while, my brother and I were small kids and we were bored shitless, the adults used to sit around in the kitchen talking while my brother and I would be clockwatching waiting to go back home to sunny Hertfordshire.
Sounds like it wasn’t Maldon you had poor memories of, it was the experience you had with your family, so you’ve associated those negative experiences with Maldon. You should pop back with fresh eyes, and create new memories 👌🏼
@@ADayintheUK I intend to at some point, the time period I'm remembering is the 70s back when most places were terrible. The demographics there seem to have changed, I remember that side of the family having an almost Suffolk accent, the older ones especially, in your video I'm hearing more London than anything else.
Appropriate that you make such a big thing about Edward Bright, the Fat Man of Maldon. Have you had a walk round our Tesco's?...You'll see that being fat is something Maldonians still aspire to.
Lived in Maldon since 1978 and schooled there since 1971. Daughter in law was born there in 1993.
Maldon and Burnham are my favourite places in Essex
BURNHAM?!?
I've been to maldon loads of times but I had no idea about most of this stuff. Brilliant vid, I'll go check these places out for myself.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it Flappy Goose!
Love it there. My sister lives in Heybridge Basin.
God Save The King.
Long Live The King.

Maldon. Born , who remembers my place of work ! Kathleen’s kitchen , good bakers for many years ❤
I remember Kathleen’s kitchen from the mid 70’s. I left maldon around 1975
Morning Heather, I started at Kathleen's around 1976 as a apprentice & stayed until closure 1991 & a very sad day . I still have those great memories.
Yep you've convinced me that Maldon is definitely worth a day out. Well done, Adam 👒🌻🇬🇧☀️☕🍰⛵
Absolutely Jenny, check it out, especially down at promenade park, stunning
Awesome
Should have gone to the maldon war museum, down the road from the station. Larges gun collection in the uk. The building is like a tardis

Yeah~very uunusual recording! see you later~
No mention of Maldons Bravest man, Ben Cobey, disowned by the church and barred from getting a VC at the insistence of God's representatives on Earth.
Great video! Looking forward to Winchester ;)
Thanks! So am I...next video out soon and its a cracker!
