    Absolutely awesome vid! I’ve written a swamp into my homebrew campaign and I really like the d4 and 20 system in conjunction with the encounter table. Very nice idea. But at the end it’s not a fog let waiting for them it’s a nasty Bog Hag 🤫😈

      Sounds awesome! Hags are so dangerous. I think they aren’t utilized enough in campaigns. And yeah it was fun running this encounter at my table with this system. Each roll had me wondering if the party would ever make it out!

      @@HouseDM very true, I’m disappointed how they didn’t rollover the hags from 3rd and 4th edition into 5th.

    That is nasty. Very old school. Love it.

    I used a job board recently and I made it extra pretty. My players liked it very much but they did not take it all to seriously ^^
    They just want to follow what they think is the main plot. Spoilers: there is no main plot ^^ wonder when they find that out.
    Also this is a great watch even for non-D&D-GM's. I will 100% steal the random maze mechanic. I am not a big fan of random tables, but in a scenario like this its I will give it (yet another) try ☺

      Hmmm I wonder if your players were hoping to have a main plot, especially if they were looking for one.
      And yeah, I’m this case, you can treat each of the random encounter areas as a different “room” so to speak, within the swamp. And each room is random because of the fog and easily losing direction. Best of luck if you use it!

      @@HouseDM yes they were hoping for it, and to be totally holest, I backward engendered one in 😁

    My method of rolling random encounters would make this very interesting. Everyone rolls a d12 and if any of the players rolls is equal to my roll a random encounter happens (created by the dungeon coach). Having them know that an encounter could have been activated could add to the unease

      I'm familiar with this method from the Dungeon Coach! Really like it, thanks for watching!

      @@HouseDM I plan to use a similar scenario in my campaign. My players are trapped in a realm of ravenloft (a forest of undead called Kandel.) I going to place a McGuffin in a cave hidden in a similar swamp. Thanks for the inspiration

      @@Death_Wish oh that’s sick. Is Kandel one of the planes of dread or your own home brew local? Hope it goes well with your group!

    It seems strange that nothing happens on a failed navigation check. A party that rolls three successful checks in the first 30 minutes may face four potentially harsh encounters (three successes plus 30 minutes have passed), whereas a party that rolls three failed checks may experience only one (because 30 minutes have passed). So a party with a skill navigator may die four times, whereas a party with a lousy navigator may die only once. Am I interpreting this system correctly?

    Wow, very cool. How long does the adventure take roughly? 3 hours?

    • @HouseDM
      @HouseDM  2 роки тому +2

      You could do it in 3 hours. Depends on how quick your group is at making decisions in the swamp, how lucky or unlucky they are, and combat with the Foglet. Best of luck!
