I always mention this when it comes up: in Asia, cinnamon/cassia is exclusively a savory spice. In the West, it's almost exclusively (except for Indian/Pakistani food) a sweet spice. It's always amazing to see the reactions of people not used to the other way.

Mr Tahir, coffee is always served without sugar. The customer adds sugar to his own tastes. If you ask for sugar, they will give you some in packets. When you are at home, get some sugar and add some cinnamon to it, mix it well, then you can sprinkle it on buttered roti, fold it over and enjoy it with some tea.

What I don't think people understand is that most of what he says about different foods or ingredients and their health benefits is not all jibber jabber that he's pulling out of thin air. He's learned it from his parents, who learned it from theirs and so on. There weren't any doctors in the kinds of remote village that he grew up in and still aren't today. Tahir's ancestors (just like every culture at one point in it's history) had to experiment and learn about the different plants, seeds, nuts and grains, etc. that have medicinal benefits for humans and even for the livestock that they raised for their own tables or to sell in the village markets. We aren't taught about natural or homeopathic medicine these days, in much of the Western world, because certain multi-billion dollar corporations, wouldn't have paying customers for life... but that's a whole 'nother rant for a different place and time. 😏

Cinnamon is one of my most favorite spices! I always add more than the recipe calls for. There are different kinds too...each tasting just a tad different! They should all have been able to enjoy that delectable treat! But, hoping it helps dr tahirs healing!! And, by the way, i like to eat mine by hand...i unroll it to get to the best part...the middle!
Get them all to the mall of America, they could shoot videos everyday for a year and not try all the foods from around the world. I've lived near the mall all my life and still not tried it all. Plus hotels are affordable near by. The crazy amount of amazing foods in the twin cities area is second to none... not new York or la, chicago, it doesn't matter. I use Cinnabon coffee cream, it's amazing, tastes just like the rolls, and if you add heavy whipped cream, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract then freeze it you have ice cream.
I'm an American, and I don't particularly like Cinnabon. Their one trick is using baking soda as a flavor and once you identify that, it really takes the shine off the product, so to speak. I still love cinnamon rolls though.
Many multi-national food chains change their recipes to adapt to local tastes. if you want to taste an American Cinnabon, go to an American Cinnabon location. I'm happy everyone liked them.

There is a secret item they don't have on the menu, Cinnabon Cake, basically a giant birthday cake sized Cinnabon Roll. They only make them if you order 24 hours in advance and will deliver it to your doorstep. My Aunt Diane orders them for all kinds of occasions along with those ice cream cakes from Dairy Queen, they go great together.
It's weird to see as an Usa-ian that in presumably Pakistan the food places there right the items in only english and not one of the local languages as well. This is a common enough occurrence to note.

Jaggery comes from Portuguese terms jágara, borrowed from Malayalam ശർക്കര (śarkara), which is borrowed from Sanskrit शर्करा (śarkarā). It's a type of sugar! A bit like Sugar in the Raw, actually, the kind that comes in the brown sugar packets?
